Figuring out the feeling

Summary:

A fashion designer longs for a special flower that can only be found at sea, after failing to acquire it, she takes herself for a dive and meets a mysterious boy who draws her attention.

Work Text:

You strolled admiringly through the small shop, though with an abundant amount of clothes— As well as customers.

You glide your hand through the many silk dressed, only made with the finest materials imported throughout Teyvat.

You made quite the name for yourself in Fontaine, a talent for stylish attire as well as accessories. Shoes, hats, pants, shirts, dresses. You made it all, not to mention having the Hydro Archon request a fine amount of outfits designed specially by none other than you.

You made your way to the shop's cash register, greeting the cashier before pulling out a key to unlock the back room.

You closed the door, making sure to lock it. Looking back, there stood many mannequins in unfinished garments, and many sketches hanging on the bare walls with small notes with pointers and tips.

Of course you thought work matters and personal matters should always be away from each other, that’s why you suggested you had an office in your original shop. You had many shops scattered throughout Fontaine, but this, this is where you started.

You walked over to a desk that stood in the middle of it, and looked over the sketchbook, sitting down and grabbing your pencil.

You sat there quietly tapping the pencil, waiting for an idea to pop into mind. You usually had no trouble with this, but it suddenly felt like you were soaked of your creativity.

A sudden realization hit you ‘Materials, materials’ you scream excitedly to yourself. A new material means a new look, no matter the design.

You put in an order for a mysterious flower that was as soft as the wind blew. It could only be found underwater, and the flower itself was quite rare. You had to rearrange all your finances just to put in the order.

You checked your drawer, this is where your assistant put all your incoming mail, since of course, you were tired of fanmail coming to your apartment. You had your assistant organize important mail and send it right over to your office.

You saw the red envelope, almost shining, you carefully opened it, unfolding it quickly to read the contents inside.

‘Hello Madam.

We’re sorry to inform you that this flower is currently unattainable. We give you our deepest apologies. We have refunded in full, please do understand.

  • Thank you, Madam. Sincerely ‘Adventurer’

You ripped the paper out of frustration and turned your chair to the dress you were working on ‘Now huh I’ll have to delay. Ugh.’

You pulled out a small picture of the said flower, it was beautiful.

“I think I’ll go diving today.” You whispered to yourself. while sketching out a cute bathing suit.

“Camille!” You yelled out in the shop.

Suddenly a girl, about twice your age ran up to you, she had styled clothes, a gift from you. Curled shiny blonde hair and glasses.

“Camille I’m going out for a dive,” You stretched your arms. “Please take care of any inquiring customers, the cashier is new so she doesn’t know all too much.”

“Yes, Madam.” She responded, before running back out the store to cater to wealthy couples.

You walked down the beaches of the Beryl Region, squat down to engulf your hand into the cold water, it tickled. You had tried your new bathing suit on, and so far it was comfortable. A success indeed.

‘I should look out for any useful stuff.’ You swam into the middle of the lake before completely submerging yourself in the water.

You paddled both your legs and swam. Usually the animals were hostile towards people, but they got used to your scent, and even led you towards many ores and plants.

You collected several needed ore and plants in your handmade bag. Petting the fishes that led you.

You notice however a crowd of fish circling an area, it usually meant something was troubled, by the amount of fish in your perspective, it was hard to see whatever they were constantly going around.

You swam over, lightly leading the fishes aside, you saw a boy, he was crying. He looked about your age, he rubbed his eyes before noticing you.

You were not sure what to do, you smiled at him and blew bubble rings at him. Feeling a bit bad

You noticed he was around your age, you’ve never really seen him before, that or you weren’t someone who acknowledged him in any way.

You couldn’t hear anything underwater, he stared at you a little before you pointed up, a little hesitant at first, he followed you up, the fishes scattered and the mood lightened a little.

You swam up to shore with him and sat down on the warm sand, he followed right behind and stood as you took out your bag to empty its contents.

“I don’t usually meet people when I’m out diving in this area, it’s quite dangerous.” You spoke, hoping to start a conversation.

“Oh, uh…” He whispered.

You studied him, he refused to make eye contact and would constantly fidget.

You smile at him when he does look at you. “I won’t pry an answer out of you but I couldn’t help but notice you are in a bad mood.”

He turned to face the lake, “A bad day is all.”

Of course you saw him trying to hide his embarrassment and walk away, but you wanted him to stay for some reason.

You noticed an abundant amount of flowers in his bag, the flower you were looking for.

“Wait!” You grabbed his shoulder when he suddenly flinched.

You take your hand away and hide it behind your back.

“Those flowers… Can I pay you for them?” You asked as sweetly as you could.

He looked back at you and looked at the flowers. “I don’t know…”

He was eager to get away from you, but you would never give up an opportunity like this.

You could tell he was quite introverted, you thought maybe if you gained his trust, maybe he’d open up about how on earth he got the rare flowers, a coincidence maybe? No he had to be a professional.

“How about I take you out for lunch?” You took out a slip of paper and pen in the dry section of your bag, writing down a time, and location.

He looked at you still confuzzled, taking the slip of paper out of surprise.

“Tomorrow?” You smile.

“Sure.” He said out of shock.

You wave back at him as you skip back home. He stood there, still in utter surprise ‘Maybe I’ll go’
