Chapter Text

Izuku was led into what he was told would be his new foster home.

He didn’t expect it to last. If no other home he’s lived in worked, why should he have faith that this one will?

There were two foster fathers and they had two adopted children. Hizashi Yamada and Shota Aizawa and their children Hitoshi Shinso, fourteen and Eri Yamazawa, six. They also had a cat, Cloudy. He’d only met Mr Yamada and Mr Aizawa so far, he didn’t understand them. Kids didn’t like him and he didn’t like kids, so he sees himself being moved back to the orphanage within the month, the longest he expects to say? Three months.

He should’ve been at school, but no. This pointless shit, again.

Izuku followed the two men into their home. It was a house with a brick wall around it with a shiny black gate. There was a garden with roses from red to pink to yellow. The walls of the house itself weren’t brick but stone, different shapes, sizes and shades of grey. The front door was painted black and the handle was a shiny black that matched the gate.

It was one of the fanciest looking houses Izuku has found himself being led into, it made him want to squirm.

The inside was much more friendly in appearance. The walls were smooth and painted a blue that was almost white. There was carpet, it was black and squishy. There were trinkets and photos on shelves on the walls. There was a dark blue, maybe navy couch, a shiny black coffee table in front of it, matching navy lazy boys on either side of the couch.

Then he was shown the dining room and the dining table matched the coffee table. The kitchen was full of shiny black and royal blue tiles on the walls and a smooth black counter to match the floor.

He was shown the bathroom downstairs, there were tiles that matched the ones in the kitchen on the walls and the floor was the same smooth black. There were shelves with towels stacked on them and bottles or boxes of different things. There was a bathtub/shower that had anti slip bath stickers on the bottom of it.

Upstairs on the second floor, he was shown where the master bedroom was. He was told he was welcome in, so long as he knocked. He doubted he’d ever enter. Across from the master bedroom was apparently Yamazawa’s room, he was told to always knock before entering.

Further down the hall was another bathroom that matched the one downstairs except with different bath stickers. Across from the second floor bathroom was a laundry room, it had the same smooth flooring as the kitchen and bathrooms, there were white cabinets and shelves stacked with bottles. There were a few white laundry baskets, a light blue washing machine and a matching dryer.

He was led to the third floor, which was apparently the last one, bar the attic. He was shown where Shinso’s room was, told to knock before entering and told that the last three rooms were all unused.

“So kid, you pick a room and get yourself settled. We will be downstairs if you need anything.” Aizawa told him before walking away with a smiling Yamada following him.

That left Izuku standing in the middle of the hall.

Looking away from the staircase, facing all four doors, Izuku decided to choose the one furthest from Shinso’s. Shinso’s was the first door to the right of the staircase, so Izuku went to the last door to the left of the staircase.

Walking inside, Izuku found a spacious room, there was a window in the wall opposite the door that looked over the one and two story houses nearby until the buildings got taller and Izuku could only imagine how nice it looked at night. The curtains were navy, almost black and open.

There was a bunk bed against the wall to the right of the door, the top bunk was a single, the bottom bunk a double. The bottom bunk was set up less like a bed and more like a couch with black and white cushions and black and blue blankets.

The top bunk was made like a bed, light grey sheets, two pillows stacked and a blue comforter. There was a black night table beside the bottom bunk and a shelf on the wall above it for the top bunk, the ladder was at the end of the beds.

To the left of the door in the corner that meets the wall with the window, there’s a white wardrobe and beside it was a black desk with a blue desk chair. There was a five tier ladder shelf in the space next to the desk.

Izuku wandered in, quietly closing the door behind him, relieved at the sight of the lock. He had noticed a keyhole in the handle and hadn’t been sure if it was one of those locks that only locked and unlocked from the outside, but the lock was actually one of the locks with a rotating piece on the inside on the handle. He didn’t like the idea of getting locked in again. It always sucked, unless the window was good to climb out of.

Izuku crept over to the window and looked around. The window’s glass was thick and he could only assume that was because of Mr Yamada’s quirk, Voice. Izuku’s pretty sure the man doesn’t know Izuku knows he’s Present Mic, just as he’s sure Mr Aizawa doesn’t know Izuku knows he’s Eraserhead.

The window is the slide up kind, there’s a ledge Izuku could climb out onto to make his way down and he was sure he could find the safest way to get out and up.

Izuku closed the curtains, sending the room into darkness. It was pleasing and Izuku crouched down, sliding his phone out of his pocket and turning on his flashlight. Izuku bent down and flashed it under the bed, finding the space empty. Izuku stood up and opened the wardrobe, finding a few box shaped baskets with fabric lining at the bottom of it, a dressing mirror on one of the doors and hangers on the rails, but otherwise it was empty.

Izuku closed the wardrobe and scanned the room again, from the ceiling to the carpet before sliding his backpack off of his shoulders and stashing it so it was slightly hidden behind the pillows on the top bunk. First he pulled out his headphones though. He stashed his duffle bag under the desk.

Izuku slumped back onto the bottom bunk, slipped his headphones on and plugged them in before pressing play on his messy playlist.

He closed his eyes and breathed. Just another home.
