Chapter Text
‘Perrie’s over there?.’ Jade asked Leighanne as they tried and search for the missing member of their band.
‘I saw her. I swear.’ Leigh started to worry.
The girls have been invited by the BBC to perform at their big weekend festival, which was going to happen in under an hour. They needed to start preparing and doing last minute make up. Perrie told the girls she was heading to the loo but it was nearly two hours since she left so they were very concerned about where she went. The closest loos were about 2 minutes away from their caravan not two hours. They started to think she got distracted looking at the dogs and food stalls but it’s been way too long.
‘I’m going to phone her again.’ Leigh mumbled.
‘She won’t-’ Jade started to say.
‘Perrie? Hi!’ Leigh said on the phone.
Jade looked at her with a worried look and checked her phone for any messages.
‘Oh. Ok. It’s alright. I understand. Perrie, we are on the way now.’ Leigh started to pick up her pace and grabbed Jade’s wrist on the way up the path. Jade could not keep in her tears. She was petrified.
‘Jade come on. We can look at the hats later.’ Leigh started to shout. Leigh has always been the mother of the group, making sure everyone is ok all the time.
‘Where is she, Leigh? Leigh?’ Jade pulled Leighanne’s arm.
‘Up here. Near the pizza van’
‘Ok.’ Jade started to run, still holding onto Leigh’s hand. They both sprinted up the hill. They needed to get onto the stage on time or the mixers will leave.
When they finally got up the massive hill, they couldn’t spot Perrie at all.
‘Pez, where are you?’ Leigh asked, she then pointed towards the gap between the pizza van and the bar. They squeezed through trying not to damage their outfits as they have no backup clothes.
Perrie was curled up in a ball, shaking and struggling to catch her breath. She looked run down. Worse even.
‘Perrie? What happened?’ Jade asked as she and Leigh sat on either side of her.
‘I... I...I can’t sorry girls.’ Perrie cried.
‘Talk to us, love.’ Leigh wiped her tears away.
‘I went to the loo. I was on my way back. Then Harry came out of the nearest teepee with Niall.’ Perrie explained.
‘Yes, Harry and Niall are the boys you like.’ Jade responded, handing over a tissue.
‘No, but Zayn came round the corner. With Liam and Louis.’ Perrie started to break into pieces. It’s been hard ever since she and Zayn broke up not just because he cheated on her but because the media has tried to blame her. She sometimes regrets going onto X-factor as she wouldn’t need to experience the massive interactions with fans and trolls.
‘You knew they were performing here tonight as well. They obviously didn’t come here to see you and make you upset, hun.’ Jade hugged her.
‘Yea, we know it’s hard for you pez. But please call us when you are upset or scared.’ Leigh leaned her head on Perrie’s shoulder.
‘I know.’ Perrie smiled, she seemed to be slowly getting into her usual self.
They carried on sitting there for a short while, the evening sun shining in their faces.
‘Right girlies shall we go back to the stage and get ready?’ Leigh asked, looking and Perrie.
‘Yes but only if you are ok, Pez?’ Jade smiled at her.
‘I think I will be fine.’ Perrie got up and grabbed Jade and Leigh’s hands.
They skipped all the way back to the main stage, avoiding any people who look like mixers. They were in the area that was only for artists performing but there are a few VIP members walking around. In their caravan, Jade grabbed her mascara and fixed Perrie’s make up. Her eyes were red and damp. Leigh made Perrie a bottle of lemonade with mashed ice, Perrie’s fav stage refreshment. They then got their performing trainers on and headed to the stage.
Their manager, Sam, was sitting on a bench waiting for them, looking kind of angry but worried at the same time.
‘Girls where you have been?’ She asked as they all plonked onto the cold metal bench.
‘Umm... Perrie had an incident.’ Jade looked at Perrie again.
‘Oh hun, you ok?’ Sam asked.
‘Yea I am now I think,’ Perrie responded,’ I had a mental breakdown at the pizza van again.’
‘Again?’ Leigh looked up.
‘Yea, I had one in 2012 when we were here. But no one knows except Sam and Jesy knew. Sorry for not saying, it wasn’t to do with him though.’ Perrie whispered.
‘That’s fine, as long as your ok now.’ Jade smiled.
They were sitting on the bench for quite a long time. They were sure Anne-Marie was going over her time given. They played eye-spied and had some vocal warm-ups.
‘Sorry. Just have many fans that love me.’ Annemarie apologised as she walked, more like stumbled off the steps. She was wearing a black skater dress with chunky trainers.
‘We have more mixers though.’ Leigh mocked.
‘As if.’ Annemarie responded, taking a sip of her warm water.
‘Was it fun?’ Perrie asked, still sounding a bit sniffly.
‘Hell yea. God that crowd is wild. Be careful of the dude near the left platform with the cowboy hat. I will let you see what he’s like. Nothing dangerous though.’
‘I’m sure he loves us more.’ Leigh responded.
‘Yea because we are amazing.’ Jade laughed.
‘Right..’ Annemarie giggled. She then had to go back to her caravan but she said she will see them after.
The girls were now standing on the edge of the stage, waiting for the last minute changes. The crowd was screaming ‘LITTLE MIX, LITTLE MIX’ over and over again.
‘We got this.’ They all said in a group hug. Perrie was most definitely feeling better.
‘I hope Zayn isn’t there. In the audience.’ Perrie mumbled.
‘Nah, they have a meet and greet happening right now.’ Leigh looked at the poster on the fence.
‘Mixers won’t go there.’ Jade said.
*Audio music for shout out to my ex started playing*
The girls then ran into the stage, holding hands, and went into singing shout out to my ex. The audience loved it so much. There were fans with braids like Perrie, fans with homemade banners and fans wearing iconic merch. Everyone was there, having the time of their life.
‘Who’s ready to party???’ Jade screamed to the crowd.
*screams and cheers*
They then went on to sing power and Wings. The girls had a dance break between wings and salute. Perrie tried her best to seem happy and she was but there were moments she let out a tear. She knew what to do, she waited till Leigh did her speech on winning the Brit award the other week. Then went to sit on a little box on the side of the stage, still in sight of the crowd but a little bit away from the speakers and guitarists. She drank her lemonade and watched Jade and Leigh have conversations with fans in the ‘moshpit’.
‘Perriewinkle? Shall we sing your fav, Touch?’ Jade asked walking over to her and guiding her back towards the center of the stage. Perrie requested the girls to act normal if she ever needed to take a minute so that’s what Leigh and Jade did. They distracted the crowd and improvised some talks and little harmonies.
‘Let’s do it.’ Perrie smiled at the crowd. The crowd must’ve been bigger than the audience in the X-factor final. They loved it, but also felt a little nervous.
After about another half an hour of their act, they waved the crowd goodbye and jumped off the backstage steps.
‘Wow, that was amazing!’ Leigh span around in a circle.
‘Yea!’ Jade jumped. They all had a little shake and jump around to let out their post-excitement. The sun was basically gone and it was now post-golden hour. It was then time for the BBQ in the artist's area. But before they headed there they got dressed in their warmer and less coordinating outfits.
