Summary:

"O Thou whose name the four winds bear,

Whose spirit roams free in the air,

My faith in Thee I do declare;

To Thine ears I offer my prayer."

A collection of prayers to the Anemo God, and a testament to the devotion the people of Mondstadt have towards their Archon.

Notes:

- Almost every citizen of Mondstadt said some variations of "may the wind guide you".
- The city has a cathedral, in which a church operates.
- The people's understanding of their Archon's philosophy is clear and consistent.
- I was riding and the drag blew my raincoat hood off.

...and thus i had an idea.

I base the prayers of this work on how a few groups of people offer their prayers, removing elements which do not pertain to the Anemo Archon, and replacing certain objects of interest with the approximate in-lore equivalent.

I had to read some lore, but it turns out there's not a lot of in-depth lore regarding the things i really want to know about in regards to the Church of Favonius. Thus if there are things that are not mentioned in lore, treat it as my personal interpretation.

I planned four chapters, each to one of the four winds. But the parallels are too far-fetched, so i scrapped that idea. Expect to see 5+ chapters depending on mood and lore findings.

English is not my mother tongue. If (and when) i make any oopsies, feel free to correct me.

Chapter 1: Für den Löwenzahn

Summary:

"...O Lord Barbatos, permit me show a moment of weakness;
though far be it from me to shirk my given duty, Your servant stands before You worn and wearied..."

Chapter Text

O Blessed Lord Barbatos,

Carried be thy name

By the four winds that protect us

I prithee, O Archon, hear my cries thus:

It has been nigh on a year since The Grandmaster left this city on my hands; I pray for his safe return.

In his absence I’ve worked ceaselessly to protect and serve the good people of Mondstadt - such is my duty as the Dandelion Knight.

O Lord Barbatos, permit me show a moment of weakness;

though far be it from me to shirk my given duty, Your servant stands before You worn and wearied.

I try to defend this city and keep its peace, but alas, I am but one in the face of many…

Mondstadt is bare, O Lord, and the most vulnerable she has ever been.

Adversaries creep outside her walls and foes stalk from within;

in every corner danger looms upon Your people.

But that’s why You chose me, is it not? That is why You ordained me to keep vigil watch over Your domain.

I am a Gunnhildr. like my mother before me, and her ancestors before her;

I am oathsworn to guard this city with my life… there is no greater delight.

So grant me strength, Lord Barbatos, so I may yet stand in the face of our opponents;

let Your winds soothe my wounds and lift my spirit;

let it guide my sword to protect this city, this people, and all that is Yours;

'til my dying breath may I continue to serve – such is my vow as the Dandelion Knight;

For I am the fang of the lion that watches over Your domain.

For Mondstadt, as always.

O Thou whose name the four winds bear,

Whose spirit roams free in the air,

My faith in Thee I do declare;

To Thine ears I offer my prayer.

Notes:

From her voice lines, lineage as a Gunnhildr, and general response to things, I'd like to think that Jean's one of those servant leaders. And this is how i picture her offering her prayers : a short trip to the tree at Windrise, one knee bent, sword planted into the ground. A quick renewal of faith and fervor. A quick bite, then back to work.

I can't help but realize that i was trying to set the same tone as a certain bald man praying to his god before exterminating some vermins.
