Work Text:
Yelena didn't know how this happened, she didn't need to get married, that was complete bullshit and her family did not need the money, Natalia had taken care of that for them.
She found herself in the middle of a party Alexei put together for her potential suitors, Yelena had been approached by several men throughout the evening, all hoping to court her.
She had gracefully let them down, none of them seemed worthy enough to share a bed with her, and Natalia had luckily thought the same as she had forcefully removed a few insistent men.
The blonde had instead entertained herself with teasing James, Natalias' husband and Natalia herself. The two of them had been great friends for years before they were arranged to get married, despite the two having their own partners, hidden from the world.
Maria Hill could be seen talking to a few officers, her father had really invited the whole town for this event, and Maria, unable to actually work for the law, had married the chief, Steve Rogers, even if she was far more skilled in the field, there was nothing she could do.
Yelena watched as both Steve and Maria threw glances their way, and she couldn't help but laugh, two married couples that were head over heels for eachother, they honestly couldn't make it more obvious.
Yelena scanned the ballroom, hoping to find any of her friends, which she didn't, her eyes instead finding a pale dark haired woman standing off to the side, Yelena didn't recognize her but there was something about her that immediately drew her in, she needed to know who she was.
"Hey, do you know who that is?" She gestured to the woman with her glass, turning her head to her sister and James who both turned in the direction she pointed.
"Who?" Natalia eyed her warily before turning to look again, only to find no one.
"That woman, dark hair, beautiful, she's got a grey dress" Yelena couldn't be clearer, the woman was there, clear as day.
"Yelena, there's no one there" The blonde frowned, what were they talking about? She's right there, she's staring at her, oh.
"I, I, uhm, I'm going to take a breath." Natalia nodded and watched with slight apprehension as her sister walked to the door across the room, Yelena stopped and looked to the empty space right next to the door.
"Who are you?" The woman jumped, eyes wide as she looked at Yelena, clearly not expecting anyone to talk to her, she nervously licked her lips and fidgeted with her dress.
"You can see me..?" Yelena frowned, why wouldn't she?
"Yes?" The woman then broke into a huge relieved grin, before looking around carefully, apprehensive.
"Can we go out?" The Russian nodded with a small smile and moved to walk out of the door, holding it open for the unnamed woman, who followed after her with a smile of her own.
Yelena propped herself down on one of the many benches decorating the family garden, watching as the other woman nervously stood in front her, fingers wringing in on themselves.
"So, who are you?" The socialite eyed her curiously, it was a small town and her family knew everyone, yet it seemed that no one knew who this woman was.
"Oh, Wanda" Yelena hummed, trying to wrack her brain for the name only to come up with nothing.
"Did you just move here? I haven't seen you around before" Wanda seemed to freeze up at that, her smile dropping as she hesitated.
"I, no, how are you able to see me?" Yelenas' mouth opened and closed a few times in a loss of words, confused as she stared at the brunette.
"What?" Wanda actually giggled at that, eyes shining in newfound appreciation, even if some of the weariness was still there.
"I'm dead, silly." The blondes' jaw dropped at that, did that mean that this woman was a ghost? Was she imagining things? What was happening?
"H-how?" Wandas' eyebrow raised at that, seemingly amused by her question, even if insensitive.
"I killed myself, my soul got stuck here and now I am too." Yelena winced at her own careless question, suddenly wishing for the ground to swallow her whole.
Then she thought about the times she would see a shadow move in the corner of her eye or belongings being displaced, things she could blame her brain on now seemed to have a real explanation.
"I'm so sorry! I-" she chuckled nervously, wetting her lips as she broke eye contact. "I don't know why I asked that, I'm sorry"
Wanda did not seem to mind as a smile broke out on her face despite the somber topic.
"You're sweet, I like you" Yelena could already feel her cheeks grow warmer, an undeniable blush on her cheeks as she tried to find the right words to say.
"I've been stuck here for some while now, and it is so lively now, makes it less lonely when all I can do is watch." The brunette had a melancholic smile as she talked, it was clear that she missed human interaction.
Yelena watched her, still trying to make sense of these new revelations as Wanda talked about her lonely days in the mansion, there had been a Maximoff family that had lived there before them, but the family had moved away after a series of tragic events.
"You are Wanda Maximoff." She didn't know the family personally, her father had met the parents, who had been wracked with sadness when they sold the house, both of their kids had died in two separate incidents which made them flee the town.
"That I am." It all made sense, the brother dies during an outing and the sister kills herself in the house, trapping her soul in the same place she died.
"You..I'm so sorry" Wanda scoffed, her eyes rolling as she shut Yelena up.
"You apologize too much" The blonde shrugged, silently apologizing while Wanda started pacing, her nerves not allowing her to stay still.
"Yelena, you should go back inside." Yelena frowned and stood up, gingerly approaching the ghost as Wandas' pacing finally slowed.
"Will I see you again?" The brunette smiled softly, fingers flexing in front of her, as if she was trying to hold herself back from reaching forward and touching Yelena.
"Say my name and I will be with you" Yelenas' eyes widened in surprise and a relieved smile broke up on her face, she wasn't sure she wanted to say goodbye just yet.
"Thank you, Wanda" The brunettes' smile widened, eyes shining with a joy she hasn't felt since her childhood. Oh, how she longed to feel another persons' touch again.
Yelena gave one last smile and wave before walking through the door and into the life of the party.
Wandas' smile dropped as soon as Yelena was out of her sight, the young woman had somehow filled the empty hole that once was her heart, and watching her walk away had ripped it all open again.
Yelena could not stop thinking about the ghost wandering her house, she had been distracted throughout the rest of the party, her mind on Wandas' smile, her anxious tics, how open she was when talking about her death.
She still had a hard time wrapping her head around the fact that there was a real life ghost living under the same roof as her, a kind, beautiful ghost that made her heart race and cheeks warm.
As Yelena made her way up to her room, she could feel her skin buzzing with excitement at the chance of seeing Wanda again, dressed in nothing but her nightgown, her breath faltering as she whispered a quiet; "Wanda?"
A gust of wind made her shiver and seek out the warmth of her bed, only to find Wanda sitting on top of it, perched like a cat as she watched Yelena with a knowing smile.
"Oh, Wanda! You came" The blonde did a good job at hiding her jump, she guessed that she would have to become used to Wandas' ghostly manners.
"I did, you called for me" Wanda chuckled and patted the space next to her, that same smile still playing on her lips as Yelena carefully crept under the covers.
The warmth that would emit from any regular person was replaced by a cold that made Yelena draw her covers tighter around herself.
Wanda watched her with a calculating gaze, mindful of how cold her aura was, even if being this close to the Russian made her feel a warmth she hadn't felt since her adolescent years.

"I'm sorry, I really wish I could do something about how cold it is, but uh" a nervous chuckle, "I haven't really figured this out yet" Yelenas' eyes widened, ready to reassure the other woman.
"It's fine, I don't mind, I promise!" She smiled in a way that she hoped was reassuring, wishing for nothing more than to reach forward and touch Wanda.
The brunette eyed her for a moment before moving even closer, making Yelena nervously shift back, eyes flickering between Wandas'.
"Are you sure?" The ghost had a teasing smirk on her lips as she moved even closer, what felt like a breath ghosted across Yelenas' cheek, making the younger woman swallow nervously, an unfamiliar heat forming in her lower stomach as her heart raced.
"I-, yes.."
"I'm going to tell you something you don't know about ghosts, okay?" Yelena nodded, excited to learn more about the woman in front of her.
"It's not common knowledge, obviously" Wanda let out a chuckle at her own comment. "but, ghosts have a heightened sense, we can't touch but our smell and hearing is otherworldly, and that is why I can smell how excited you are." The brunette raised an amused eyebrow as Yelena blushed and spluttered, clearly embarassed.
"...What?" Yelena could not believe this, how could she get wrapped up in this situation? God, she has never been more embarrassed in her life.
Wanda laughed, her tone carrying a much darker tone as she placed her hand right above her thigh, never touching but enough to make a shiver run through the younger woman.
"Has anyone fucked you before?" Yelena shook her head, sure there had been some women who had gotten her attention but nothing had ever happened. Hell, she had barely even touched herself.
"No.." Wandas' smile widened at that, seemingly satisfied with her inexperience, and her innocence.
"I want you to touch yourself, you'll do that for me, right?" The blondes' blush only seemed to deepen but she nodded nonetheless, her hands trailing up her thighs to bunch her nightgown by her hips.
"Good girl" The ghosts' gaze moved to the space between her thighs, eyes lighting up at the sight of slick covered thighs.
"Rub your clit for me" Yelena obeyed without a second thought, jumping at the initial contact before settling on a rhythm. The blonde locked her eyes on the ghost before her, her breath catching in her throat at the dark look in Wandas' eyes.
"Fuck yourself" Yelena took a deep breath, hand moving down to push against her entrance before slipping a finger in, then another. The stretch filling her up in a way she hadn't felt before. God, she hasn't felt this good in...ever, really.
She couldn't stop her needy whine when she set a pace, fast enough to make her come undone within minutes if it wasn't for Wandas' low growl.
"Slower.." Yelena whimpered but did as told, her pace slowing until she heard Wandas' satisfied hum. The younger woman knew that she couldn't come like this but the fear of disobeying was far worse than the way she was fucking herself.
"Wanda, please.." The ghost groaned and shifted on the bed, her eyes shifting between the space of Yelenas' thighs and her eyes, her own eyes darkening further as she fully took her in.
"You look so pretty like this, my pretty girl." The loud moan that she got in return told her more than enough, her smirk back on her face as Yelenas' eyes closed, head falling back on the pillow.
"Look at me." The blonde nodded, eyes squeezing shut before opening again, green met green as Wanda grinned at her, more than satisfied with Yelenas' obedience.
"Such a good girl, I want you to make yourself cum" Yelena nodded eagerly, the slow pace she was fucking herself at finally growing to something more satisfying.
As the younger woman's moans grew louder, so did Wandas' breathing, seeing Yelena like that had turned her on more than she'd like to admit.
When the tidal waves of the younger womans' orgasm hit her full force, eyes squeezing shut as her thighs shook with the force of it, breath hitching when she felt Wandas' presence come even closer, her ghost touch hovering over her hand.
"That's it, you did so good for me" Yelena hummed happily, eyes opening to watch Wanda lean back, her calculating gaze locked onto the other woman as she recovered from the force of her orgasm.
"Will you stay?" Wanda hummed, a small smile playing on her lips as her eyes traveled down Yelenas' body one last time.
"Of course." The ghost laughed at Yelenas' wide smile as she moved to lay on her side, eyes shining in the moonlight, radiating with happiness as she leaned even closer to Wanda.
"I want to draw you" The brunettes' eyes widened in surprise but nodded anyway, smiling broadly as Yelena moved to get her sketchbook and a pen.
"So is this your thing? Drawing every pretty girl you find?" Yelena giggled and shook her head, she really was more of a scenery person but Wanda was not someone you could not not draw given the chance.
"Hah, I don't do that." Wanda hummed, a teasing smile on her face as the younger woman started sketching, her gaze shifting between her sketchbook and the ghost in front of her.
"Now, I need you to stay still." The brunette hummed her affirmative, carefully watching as Yelena worked, that same smile still on her face.
It didn't take more than 15 minutes until Yelena jumped happily, a bright smile on her face as she showed Wanda her sketch, whose own smile widened as she studied the drawing shown to her.
"Do you like it?" The older woman laughed, her eyes shining with happiness, never has anyone wanted to even draw her, never has anyone cared enough to even try. When she thought about her life and everything she couldn't experience, there had always been a sadness, but now, with all but her body left and the ray of sunshine that is Yelena, she couldn't help but look at her life and afterlife in a much brighter light.
"I love it, thank you".
