Hiding the tears in my eyes ('Cause boys don't cry)

Summary:

Finney Blake and Robin Arellano were a duo. When you saw Robin, you knew Finney was close behind, when you saw Finney, you knew Robin was only a few paces in front of him. They had been inseparable since they found out they were soulmates when they accidentally bumped into each other when they were five years old. Women cooed whenever they were spotted together, with Finney's hand firmly clasped with Robin's or Robin pressing sweet kisses to Finney's forehead (curse him for being so tall) with a mutter of "Estrella bonita." It was a shock when one day Robin was without Finney, tears threatening to break free from the prison of his eyes as he searches all over town with a piece of paper clutched in his hand. 'Missing Child.'

Or, Finney is kidnapped first, years before the other boys meet Robin.

Chapter 1: longing

Chapter Text

Robin knew he was going to be in a load of trouble when his mother got here, but he didn't care. The kid deserved it. He deserved it a lot. He knows violence isn't always the answer, Finney had said it often enough for it be tattooed on the underside of his eyelids, in the pretty, neat handwriting of his Estrella bonita. But, Finney wasn't here right now, and, with how things are going, it looks like Finney's not going to be here for a while. But Robin wouldn't give up hope. He knew his Estrella bonita wasn't dead, like everyone in this stupid town thought, he could still feel his emotions. The deep fear settling itself in their tightly woven bond like rust settling on an old bench. He also could feel hints of want and nausea. It killed him to think about whatever his Finney was going through, all alone and scared, and he was here, forced to go to school instead of looking for his soulmate with all the other adults. Gwen, Finney's little sister, was cracking as well. She was so young, only six when her older brother disappeared, she was now seven and Robin was now nine, Finney would be turning nine, too, in a few months.

It had been weeks since anyone had ever seen Finney Blake, so he was ruled dead and his loved ones were told to mourn and move on. Robin never did. Neither did Gwen.

~

It had been years since Finney went missing and was never found. Robin knew he still wasn't dead. That was the only thing keeping him going. Finney had learnt to kind of communicate with Robin through their bond, it kept it alive and pulsing with their feelings. Finney's fear and exhaustion and Robin's anger and restlessness were all they felt. Sometimes Robin would feel phantom touches on his hands and shoulders and neck, soft presses that felt soothingly like Finney's lips. But Finney couldn't tell Robin where he was, or who has him, or how to get to him, and it drives the Mexican insane not having the curly blond with him. God damn it had already been four years, Robin was honestly shocked he hadn't lost his mind already, and Gwen was concerned if he was going to end up dying or not. He hoped not. Not until he had held Finney in his arms again and had kissed him everywhere he was allowed, no matter if he was dirty or not.

It was at the beginning of the fifth year of not having Finney, that four boys decided to befriend him. Bruce Yamada, Denver's resident golden boy with a penchant for sarcasm and faux smiles to whoever dared to cross him when all he had done was be kind. He reminded Robin of Finney, kind of, they both shared a love of baseball and they were both kind and happy souls. Griffin Stagg, who seemed innocent but could rip your throat out within a second with words and attitude only. Billy Showalter, a boy who looked uncaring but probably cared the most out of their little friend group of misfits and outcasts. And Vance Hopper, a boy with a meaner violent streak than Robin's who showed that he cared through harsh yells and firm grips on their arms or clothing. Robin could practically smell their connection to Finney. He knew Finney would have more than one soulmate, he just didn't expect to meet them instead of Finney meeting them.

It's when he finally drags himself home and drops himself in his bed, one of Finney's left over hair ties tying his hair into a single plait, that he allows himself to relax somewhat and sleep. But when sleep does come, so does a pleasant surprise.

~

When Robin opens his eyes he's not in his bedroom. He's not even in a house. The place is familiar, though. The park where he and Finney had first met, where they shared their first kiss. Finney was standing in front of him, eyes drooping like he's exhausted beyond belief, blond hair falling down to his shoulders limply in a pale imitation of the normally bouncy curls with all the grease in it. Finney's eyes light up when he sees Robin and Robin registers that he, himself, is crying. "It worked!" Finney exclaimed, stumbling over to him and running dainty fingers over Robin's cheeks. "What worked, Estrella bonita?" Robin hears himself ask, hands coming to rest just under Finney's ribs, careful not to spook him. He doesn't, he never has. "You know how my family's special?" Finney sighs, leaning into Robin's hand as he runs his hand through his curls. Surprisingly, as he touches them, the grease dissipates. He nods, tugging slightly to get Finney to face him. Finney sighs again, pressing closer to him. "I can kind of influence dreams if I try enough and if I focus on my favourite memory with that person." Finney explains, pulling himself closer to Robin. Robin lets him, Finney stuffs his face in Robin's neck and collapses, letting the other boy carry his weight happily.

Finney's still in the clothes he was kidnapped in, the pink shirt he was forced into tight on his body, uncomfortably so. The white skirt he was also forced into that day squeezed his waist harshly and did nothing to hide the face that whoever took him had taken his underwear and had not given him anything to replace it with. Robin was bursting with anger. Even though there was no one there in their little dream world, Robin still wrapped his arm around the place where Finney's skirt stopped to hide the exposed skin and bent down so it was more comfortable. Finney hummed and cradled Robin's head to his shoulder, nuzzling into his hair. Robin's anger simmers a little, but not enough to let go of Finney to get a proper look at him. After a few minutes, his knees start to ache so he sits on the grass and pulls Finney down by his thighs, slotting him over Robin's thighs. Finney squeezed his thighs with his when Robin shifts, hiding in his neck. "How long have you gone without underwear, Finney?" Robin seethes, kissing his cheek despite the scowl taking over his lips. "A few minutes, I think. However long we've been asleep for." Finney answers, scooting closer so their chest to chest. Finney blushes a bright red. "Sorry, my chest's gotten bigger. The man said he would get me some new clothes but he said he wanted to keep the skirt." Finney whispers, body trembling. He's never felt so exposed before.

Robin tightens his arms around Finney's waist, smoothing one hand down to tuck the tiny skirt underneath him. The blond shuffles, "I'm so scared, Rob. He's so... Creepy." Finney shudders, "He just watches me, but sometimes, when I wake up, there's bruises on my legs and arms, sometimes on my waist too." Robin's vision goes red at that. How dare someone touch what isn't theirs to touch! Finney pulls away from his shoulder and puts his hands on Robin's cheeks. "You can't get too angry, you'll wake up." Robin growled, not paying that much attention and coming up with ways to kill the disgusting man. Finney kisses Robin harder than he meant to but it was accepted happily, Robin pressing angrily into Finney while Finney steers it so it's not so harsh, meeting Robin's rough with soft.

Robin gets the memo and ropes his anger in, now just leisurely kissing him. Finney breaks away, panting. "You can't get too mad, you'll wake yourself up." Finney chides, smiling softly. Robin grins at him until he remembers why he's angry. "Do you know who this guy is? Or where you are?" He asks, tugging at Finney's skirt again so it covers his ass. "He said I could call him 'Al', and I don't know where I am, he came up behind me and sprayed something into my eyes. I don't remember anything after that other than waking up in his basement." Finney mutters, looking into Robin's eyes. God, he missed him so much. Finney's vision starts to blur and go black and he knew he was waking up. "Robin, I'm waking up now." "I promise you, I'll find you. And when I do, I'm going to kill that old man and then introduce you to your other soulmates." Robin promises, watching Finney fade out of his lap.

When he wakes up, there's a small bruise on his neck in the place Finney had hidden his face.

Chapter Text

When Finney's eyes open, 'Al' is sat in the corner again, head tilted and eyes adoring. A shudder of disgust slams its way through Finney and he desperately hopes Robin feels it. "Hi." The man says, voice chipper, like what he's doing is perfectly alright and not something he'd be going to jail for if someone found out. "I've got your new clothes! Although you're going to have to keep the skirt." The man's voice makes Finney nauseous, his stomach churns and bile threatens to make its way up his throat but he bites it back in case 'Al' gets offended by it and ends up unbuckling his belt. The clothes consist of a white sports bra, matching white panties, a black short sleeved shirt, an oversized white sweater and black knee high socks. Finney is disgusted to see that his old pair of underwear is hanging out of the man's pants pocket. The blond gets up, shuffling slowly to 'Al' to get his clothes. He holds the clothes out of reach and taps his cheek, evidently wanting a kiss. Finney fights back tears and bile and leans forward, pressing a small peck to the offered cheek before darting back as quickly as he thought he was allowed. "Thank you." Finney mumbles and the man looks absolutely delighted. "Your welcome! You've been such a good boy, I might get you a gift!" He passes the clothes to Finney, and the blond feels his bond with Robin creak and groan, pulled tight because of the years they've spent apart.

Finney waits until the man leaves to go around the corner to change. The little bathroom has slowly become Finney's safe space, 'Al' hasn't went in there since Finney got his first period and before that it was only to stock up his toilet paper. Now he just hands the toilet roll and sanitary pads to him for Finney to arrange however he likes. 'Al' understands his situation, even though Finney didn't tell him anything about it. He calls him 'good boy' and uses 'he' and 'him' for Finney, and doesn't use his deadname even though it was plastered all throughout the papers when he went missing and 'Finney' was listed as a nickname that he used more often than his real name, although he keeps him in that tiny skirt he was forced into for his mother's birthday outing. The clothes fit him perfectly, and he keeps his hands hidden by the sweater paws from the long sleeves. Cold from the floor seeps into his feet through the thin socks and he's thankful for the fluffy blanket 'Al' had given him. He curls up on the filthy mattress under the blanket and falls asleep, not seeing Robin again.

~

When Finney wakes up again, 'Al' is just opening the door. He's carrying something as he uses his back to push open the heavy door. He's not holding something, he's holding someone! A boy around Finney's age with light brown hair that Finney is sure would look golden if the Sun's rays caught it just right. His eyes are closed and he's limp in 'Al's' hands. "I said I'd bring you a gift for being a good boy, didn't I?" He giggles, laying the boy down so his head is on Finney's lap. "I noticed that he hung around that boy you used to hang around and thought maybe you'd like to be friends with him also." The man says as he leaves, locking the door with multiple clicks. Finney knew why Robin let this boy hang around him as soon as his head of brown hair hit his thighs. The same delightful sparks that he felt every time Robin so much as touched him shot through his entire being. This boy was his soulmate as well and Finney could feel his soul reaching out for the other's. The blond sat there for hours, combing through brunette hair and humming softly. Soon, the boy stirs, groaning as his eyes open, no doubt blurry like Finney's had been.

Finney waits for him to register that he's laying in his lap before letting him up. He shoots up as soon as Finney's hands leave his hair and looks frantically around the room before his unfocused eyes land on Finney's figure before him. The blond scoots back so he doesn't look threatening, even though he doubts he does in the first place. "Who are you? Where am I?" The brunette asks, rubbing his eyes with the heels of his palms. "My name's Finney Blake and I still have no idea where we are." Finney answers simply, shrugging his shoulders. The phone rings distantly and Finney ignores it this time instead of getting up to answer it like he usually does. He doesn't want to spook his soulmate with him talking to ghosts through a disconnected phone. "Finney Blake? The same girl that went missing five years ago?" Finney cringes when he hears that he's been missing for years and the dreaded 'g' word. "I'm actually a boy. And I've been missing for five years?" The boy looks at him with the brightest green eyes Finney's ever seen.

"Yeah, give or take. Sorry about calling you a girl." He says, and Finney suspects that he caught onto his situation. "It's fine. How's Robin been?" Finney asks, scooting closer somewhat and he's glad the blanket covers his exposed thighs. This skirt really did nothing to hide anything. If he moved in the wrong way it would bunch up around his hips like a belt so he usually stayed under the blanket. "He's as good as any person who's been separated from his soulmate for five years. I'm Griffin Stagg by the way." Finney frowns, trying to remember where he's heard of his name before. "Oh! I know you, kind of. You used to sit behind me in English!" Griffin looks genuinely shocked that Finney knew him and the look on his face makes Finney's heart twist painfully. "How haven't you gone insane, locked in here for five years?" Griffin asks, standing up to pop his back. "Sometimes he lets me upstairs. He blindfolds me until he shuts all the windows, blinds, curtains and anything that I can use to determine where I am and then lets me roam the house with him following so I don't try to escape. That's usually when I get to shower, too. I can also still feel my bond with Robin." Finney explains, eyes roaming over Griffin.

He's a little bit taller than Finney, around five foot three. He's wearing an oversized jacket over his striped black and white shirt and jeans with scuffed black converse. He's pale, too. The locks on the door click and Griffin quickly throws himself on the mattress next to Finney. 'Al' walks in, a tray in his hands. He sees how close the two boys are and giggles. It makes Finney bite back bile and Griffin struggle to keep his lunch down. "I knew you would become fast friends." He says, laying the tray on the floor just at the end of the mattress. He steps around it towards Finney and Griffin, hand reached out to stroke Finney's hair. He keeps his hands away from Griffin. "If you continue to be a good boy, Finney, I'll be sure to get you more gifts." He says happily, cupping his cheek softly. Finney pretends to lean into it, making sure to force a soft smile. 'Al' walks away and out of the room and Finney immediately gags.

"Jesus Christ, he's creepy." Griffin shudders, arms wrapping around his waist, wrist ghosting over Finney's arm. The sparks shoot again and Griffin's head shoots towards Finney to see him already looking at him. "You're my-" "Soulmate? Yeah. I knew when he laid you down on my lap when he first brought you in." Griffin smiles. His soulmate knew who he was before he introduced himself, granted he had to remind him, but still! And he's so pretty! Curly blond hair and soft hazel eyes that look at him with his full attention. He remembers Robin muttering something like "Finney would love them." under his breath once and didn't know why but now he knew. The other boys were Finney's, as well. Finney's boys. That made Griffin feel all types of sappy and warm and lovely inside and he wasn't sure he hated it. "The other boys. Mine and Robin's other friends. They're probably your soulmates too." Griffin says, subconsciously scooting closer. Finney lets him, shuffling to face him instead of sitting next to him.

The phone rings harshly and Finney's head tosses toward it with a glare. "What?" Griffin asks, looking at the phone as well. "The phone rings sometimes. For some reason, only me and that creep can hear it." Finney answers, getting up to answer it, forgetting about his skirt. Griffin turns away, face flushed red. He picks the phone up and waits for a voice to cut through the static. "Finney?" A woman's voice cuts through. It sounds motherly, soft and sweet. "Yeah, who are you?" Griffin's head whips towards him and Finney feels the pang of sadness when he realises that he has to tell him that only ghosts can talk to him through the phone. "Did you really forget your own mother?" Dread drips into Finney's spine. Only ghosts can talk to me through here. "Mum?" Griffin looks worried. He had heard about the tragedy that was Freya Blake's death. She had supposedly gone insane and slit her own wrists, but of course Finney wouldn't of known that. He's been down here for five years. "Your dead?" His mother hums sadly, and he recognises the lilt of her accent. Her thick Welsh accent was one of things he had gotten from her. She taught him how to speak her mother language all throughout his childhood and now he was absolutely fluent in it.

"Ro'n i'n dy golli di, Mam." Finney whispers and he could hear his mother sob quietly. "Fy machgen bach melys." He gasps softly. "How did you..." Finney couldn't bear to say the words. What if it was his father? What would he do if his father killed his mother? "Die? I did it myself. Your disappearance and your father drove me to it. But it was not your fault. Do you hear me? It was not your fault you got kidnapped. It wasn't your fault I took my own life." She huffs, her accent wavering in the way it always did when she was angry. She always sounded more American when she was angry. She had said it was because the only people she saw get angry enough for her to copy their mannerisms was her father and her husband, who were both American. "I know, Mum. It wasn't yours either." His mother lets out a sob, thick with despair and regret. "It was. I took my own life. I didn't keep up hope, but Gwen did. So did Robin. They're still looking for you. Use your influence on dreams to try and get a hold of Gwen's mind. I'm so proud of you." The line cuts off and Finney puts the phone down. Griffin looks at him but respectfully keeps his eyes away from his bottom half.

"How did you figure out she was dead?" Griffin dares to ask, getting up and taking his jacket off, tying it around Finney's waist. "Only ghosts can talk to me through the phone. The lines disconnected." Griffin's face falls. They're really stuck here aren't they? Griffin didn't know why that didn't appear to him before. Finney's been stuck here for five years, he would've tried everything to get out. "I have a sort of influence over dreams if I try hard enough, along with seeing and speaking to ghosts. She told me to try and get a hold of my little sister." Finney spins around on his heels and sits down on the mattress, covering his lap with the blanket. Griffin sits next to him. He closes his eyes and focuses on the memories he has with Gwen, trying to reach out to her. He doesn't know if it works but he spends at least two hours focusing on memories with Gwen, forcing his mind to cooperate. He doesn't mind when Griffin lays down with his head on his lap. It captures his attention for a second before he goes back to trying harder. He recognises the pull he felt when he did this with Robin and smiles knowingly. Gwen's mind was too guarded for him to have an influence over her dreams and mind, but her mind recognises his, and it would give her a dream about him, hopefully with clues as to where he was.

Ro'n i'n dy golli di, Mam. : I missed you, Mum.

Chapter Text

Gwen gasps awake at 4:57am and before she can register that she's awake she's sobbing and dry heaving. Nothing comes up but she gags and gasps for breath. Her heart is beating so hard in her ears and her sobbing is so loud that she doesn't hear when her father barrels into the room. He sits on the edge of her bed until she calms enough that she's not gagging and dry heaving and awkwardly rubs her back. When she looks at him, she notices he's sober and not hungover for the first time in her life so she must have spooked him when he was drinking his morning coffee before work. "What's wrong?" He asks gruffly, hand leaving her back. "I had a dream," Gwen grasps his reaction to that particular statement, he doesn't react other than flinching subtly, "about Finney." She finishes when she's sure he's not going to unbuckle his belt and beat her black and blue for it. He sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose. "What type of dream." He demands more than asks, obviously deciding it's better to go along with what his daughter is saying instead of 'punishing' her for it. "A bad one. The type Mum had. He was in a basement, dirty and scared with that Griffin Stagg kid that's recently been announced missing. He was wearing different clothes than the last time we saw him but the skirt was the same. He was talking to Mum."

Gwen waits for the storm to happen. She waits for the anger, the fists and the sound of her 'father' unbuckling his belt. She's waiting for the crater-like punches to be implanted into her skin, like she's seen him do to Finney and her mum too many times. This is the first time she's told him about the dreams she and her mother share, she didn't want to be hurt like Finney was when he woke him up sobbing and crying because he had 'seen a ghost'. Finney hadn't been able to walk properly and hobbled around with a limp for the entirety of two weeks. She didn't want to end up like her mum, slowly being driven insane by the man who was supposed to be her soulmate and finally cracking and splintering, slitting her wrists so deep her father had seen bone in the bathtub, a suicide note splotched with tears and bloody fingerprints that Gwen wasn't allowed to read. "Was he now?" Terrence doesn't sound like he believes her, but what else is new? She's better off telling Robin, he'd do something about it other than condescend her and ignore her warnings. Gwen nods, sniffling like she was five years old again, watching Finney take the punishment that was supposed to be hers. She hates feeling helpless, so she steels her face and her 'father' nods happily. "My strong little girl." He sniffs, getting up and walking out of her bedroom, wiping his nose with his sleeve.

At 6:00am, the front door opens and slams shut and she decides to get up and get dressed. She goes quickly, putting bread in the toaster while she does her hair, the toast popping up as soon as she's finished tying the sage green ribbon in her hair. Both of them are Finney's old ones before he told their parents he would rather be a boy than a girl. He gave all of his girly stuff to Gwen and she was just happy to wear the things her older brother had looked so pretty in at the time. Now she's happy to have pieces of him with her. She's wearing one of his old dresses too, it's a white overall dress with a pastel green long sleeved turtleneck underneath it. Her white socks are her own and so are her black, buckled shoes. She eats the toast and makes it out of the house for 7:20am. On the way to school, she desperately looks around for Robin, or Vance who was the tallest in their little friend group. She doesn't find him by the time the bell rings for form and she promises to find him at break or lunch. She finds him at break and tells him she needs to talk to him and to meet her by the tree on the field at lunch. He agrees easily, handing her two dollars when she looks longingly at the snacks provided at break. She takes it gratefully and promises to make it up to him before skipping off, now in a considerably better mood than this morning.

~

When Finney wakes up, it's not to 'Al', like normal, no he wakes up to Griffin pressing his body weight on top of Finney, arms wrapped snugly around his waist and head resting on his chest. Finney smiles, running his hand through the brunette hair and gently pulling out all the tangles as best as he can with his fingers. They're both under the blanket and he doesn't really want to know how it happened when the last thing he remembers is trying to get to Gwen through dreams and Griffin tucking his head into his thighs and pressing soft kisses to the accidentally exposed skin of his stomach. He likes the cuddling position though, it reminds him of when Gwen had a nightmare, when her dreams really were just dreams, and she felt she couldn't tell their parents and sought comfort from him instead, nuzzling close to his neck and sighing happily as he played with and detangled her hair. Obviously with Gwen it had been platonic, but with Griffin it was romantic, and that did funny things to his heart. Finney's head shot up when 'Al' walked in, carrying two blindfolds. His thighs tensed around Griffin's hips when he realised what that meant.

Finney shook Griffin awake gently while 'Al' closed and locked the door. The boy blinks his eyes open, smiling when he sees Finney. He frowns, however, when 'Al' starts talking. "Up you both get, Finney needs to bathe and you both get a treat! You get to watch a bit of television, reminder that it's a privilege I can easily take away, Finney only earned it after a year of being here." Griffin doesn't move from where he's hiding Finney's body with his own but twists his neck to face the man. Finney can tell he's about to make a snarky remark, somehow, so he quickly intervenes. "Could we have maybe another hour? I promise we'll be good, I just want to get to know my new friend a bit more!" He makes sure his voice is soft and sweet, tucking Griffin's head back into his chest to which he follows easily. 'Al' thinks about it for a few minutes, before speaking. "Oh, fine, only because you're such a good boy for me. Only an hour, boys." With that, the man leaves and Griffin's gag is muffled by Finney's sweater. The blond laughs breathlessly, tightening his legs around the brunette's hips to pull him closer. Griffin sighs happily and so does Finney, shuffling to get comfortable.

The hour passes by and all Finney and Griffin do is cuddle and leach body heat off of each other. Finney desperately wishes his other boys were here but he smothers Griffin in love and affection to quell the anger at not being able to hug and kiss Robin and the other boys he's waiting for Griffin to tell him about. He's heard about Bruce from being on a baseball team, Vance used to scare him a bit when he went to the grab'n'go with Robin and everyone and their grandmothers know who Billy Showalter is. He remembers Griffin being wickedly good at English, maybe history too if his memory serves him right. He finds he's right about the English but not the history part, geography tickles Griffin's fancy more. Finney likes math and history and he's brilliant at geography despite hating the subject with every inch of his body. He was a straight A+ student in everything before he got kidnapped, which he was quite proud of, if he did say so himself. 'Al' comes back downstairs and blindfolds both of them, tying Griffin's wrists and ankles together after they get upstairs while he leads Finney to the bathroom. Finney hates what comes next.

~

Robin feels numb. He feels so numb and lost without Finney and now Griffin that he spends most of his classes with his head down, eyes closed and fists clenched. The boys chattering worriedly around him doesn't do much other than give him a headache so he taps twice on the table he's sat at, waiting for Gwen to tell him what she wanted to at break, and they all stop talking and they get up, leaving. They've developed codes for if any one of them feels like they can't speak, tap twice is 'I want to be alone', tap once is 'I need quiet' and tap three times is 'I don't want to be alone'. He doesn't need to wait for Gwen for a long time, she arrives, out of breath, a few minutes after the boys leave him. He forces a smile for her but by the look on her face he can tell it ended up being a grimace so he drops it, laying his head in his arms. "I had a dream about Finney." Robin shoots up at that, looking at the girl next to him. She looks nothing like Finney, but he can definitely see the familiarity. Where Finney is all regal-looking, sharp cheek bones and a fae-like vibe to his overall look, Gwen is soft. Her hair brown not blonde and her eyes are green not hazel. Both of the Blake siblings have that look of absolute knowing in their eyes, like with just one look they would know everything about you and your family. "He was talking to Mum, in a dirty basement with Griffin. He knew she was dead, and I tried to look out the window there to see anything that could help us find them but it was just blank white." Robin's entire being shrinks. There was no way they were going to find Finney if Gwen couldn't see it in her dreams.

Gwen lays her hand on the boy's arm and he sighs. "He'd want us to stay strong for him. I'm going to try and maybe influence a dream again tonight." Robin nods, steeling his face and narrowing his eyes. He swears to the God his grandmother desperately wants him to believe in that he's going to kill this old creep if it's the last thing he does.

Anything for Finney.

~

Finney unties Griffin when he's lead back into the living room after his shower. His clothes are getting washed so the only things he has on is his bra, underwear and Griffin's jacket over his shoulders, the zipper is broken so he can't zip it up. When the brunette's hands and ankles are free, he pulls the blindfold away from his face, turning to look at Finney. He stops short when he realises what the other boy is wearing and suddenly regrets wearing the broken-zippered jacket the day he was kidnapped, it could've helped Finney a bit more. He shakes the thought away, reaching up to press a kiss to Finney's forehead, letting him snuggle into his side, wrapping his arm around the blond's shoulders to keep him in place. A giggle comes from behind them and Griffin's arm falls to cover Finney's ass from the disgusting man's gaze. "Such good boys, you might be getting more gifts soon, Finney!" With that, the man walks away into the kitchen, leaving the boys with just each other.

Finney slowly gets up from the sofa and tiptoes to the window, Griffin following to stand behind him in case the man comes back in. The blond slowly pulls the curtain back, eyes sweeping over the street to find the plaque of the street name. Once he finds it and memorizes it he pulls the curtains back and makes his way back to the sofa. Griffin sits down first and Finney wants to sit in his lap and hug him to his chest to help the weaving of their soul-bond along but decides to just sit next to him and lay one of his legs across the other's. Griffin rests his hand on his leg and pulls the other one across his lap too, letting Finney hide comfortably in his neck. He wants to kill 'Al'. He wants to wring his neck until it snaps. He wants to break the man's fingers and he wants to beat him so hard with his bare fists that he's unrecognisable. The man doesn't deserve to live. He doesn't deserve to be remembered. He's never wanted to kill anyone before, but he'd do it now.

Anything for Finney.

Chapter 4: realisation

Notes:

i made the grabber's street name up because i cannot remember for the life of me if it's mentioned or shown in the movie and i have not read the book and i can't be bothered to look for it

Chapter Text

The boys are back in the basement now and Finney can tell Griffin is mad, he doesn't know why though. The blond is swaddled in the blanket, his clothes being air-dried so they don't shrink in the dryer. It's freezing in the basement and he can tell Griffin is cold too, so he takes off his jacket and hands it back to him, now just in his underwear and the blanket. Griffin looks hesitant but he takes it anyway, shrugging it back on. "Come lay down." Finney beckons, crooking his finger in a 'come-hither' motion and Griffin follows, climbing under the blanket and laying his head on Finney's bare stomach under it. Finney rucks the blanket down he's not suffocating and runs his fingers through his hair, humming softly. Griffin shoves his arms under and around Finney's hips, needing the warmth. Embarrassingly, he  can feel the underside of Finney's chest on the top of his head and he so desperately wants to lay his head on them like this morning but doesn't since there's no shirt and sweater in between his head and the white bra. Finney's humming quickly becomes singing and Griffin finds that Finney singing in Welsh is quickly becoming his favourite thing.

After a while, Finney's singing stops so Griffin looks up at him, noticing that his eyes have glazed over like they did when he was trying to get a hold of his little sister. He's not worried that much because his fingers have never stopped playing with his hair and he doesn't look like he's scared or anything. Still, he watches until the glaze fades away and Finney shakes his head, now looking down at the other boy. Griffin lifts himself up and lays next to the blond instead of on top of him, pulling at Finney until he's the one on top, head on Griffin's chest. Finney sighs and lets himself go boneless, arms positioned on either side of Griffin's chest in a way that makes him look like he's about to push himself up into a plank. They fall asleep like that, warm and happy despite being all alone in a basement of a disgusting man.

The next morning, Gwen wakes up confused. Her dream last night had nothing to do with Finney. He wasn't even present in it. It was of a memory, a memory of when her mother had allowed her to go to her first sleepover after Finney went missing and she was being driven there instead of walking like she'd normally do. They passed the street sign and Gwen had the feeling she needed to remember it. RoseLane Drive. That's the street her friend lived on. The sleepover didn't even last, the girl she had been friends with had said something along the lines of Finney deserving whatever happened to him for being a tra- she never got to finish her sentence because Gwen had slapped her hard enough to knock her new wobbly tooth out and the girl's mother called Gwen's mother to come pick her up after getting the story out of her crying daughter. Gwen never saw that girl again, now that she thinks about it. She looks at the clock on the wall beside her door, it's 6:03am. She gets dressed in one of Finney's old dresses and deems the dream weird enough to tell Robin when she sees him.

Robin also thinks it's weird and proposes taking her to RoseLane Drive after school to see if there was anything they could get from there. She agrees and waits for him after school at the gates. He arrives and waves the other boys off but does a double take when he sees Billy walk home instead of bike home, he asks and finds out his bike has a flat tire after somehow rolling over a thumb tack and has to wait until his dad comes back from work today to get a new tire. There's a bad feeling in Robin's stomach but Billy's already gone around the corner and Gwen is looking at him expectantly so he leaves it and walks both of them to RoseLane Drive. The only suspicious thing they see is that it's the only street in Denver that has windows in the basements of the houses and Gwen points out that in her first dream of Finney there was a window in the basement. They're closer to finding Finney now, and that's all Robin needs to sleep a little bit easier. Again, he doesn't dream of Finney.

~

Griffin wakes up to find Finney not on top of him and Billy at the foot of the filthy mattress. The door opens and Griffin growls under his breath when Finney is there with 'Al' behind him with his hand on his shoulder, Finney's eyes stare into his before landing on Billy and Griffin watches as his eyes light up happily and he can see the way Finney has to hold himself back from rushing over. God, he really wanted to kill this man. "You'll get your clothes back when I get back from work, have fun with your new gift." The man giggles happily, shutting the door and locking it with multiple clicks. Finney rushes over to Griffin and Billy, still in just his underwear, and hugs Griffin. Griffin hugs back and tightens it, pulling the boy closer until they can't tell where Finney starts and Griffin ends. Finney ends up in his lap and he doesn't really care because he's getting the glorious skin on skin contact he's always dreamed of having with his soulmate and he doesn't care that if anyone saw them they'd be labelled indecent because of Finney's lack of clothes.

Griffin doesn't move from where his face is pressing into Finney's chest until Finney moves when Billy starts to wake up. The first thing he does when his eyes open is gag at the state of the mattress he's laying face down on, and then he panics. He shoots up, hyperventilating and eyes darting all over until he meets Griffin's eyes where his chin is hooked over Finney's shoulder. "Griffin?" "Hey, Billy." Billy laughs incredulously at his nonchalant response before blushing when he takes notice of the evidently almost-naked Finney in Griffin's lap. "Is that the Finney kid that went missing years ago?" Griffin nods and lets Finney pull away from him. "Finney Blake, nice to meet you." He holds his hand out behind him but keeps his body pressed against Griffin's to hide his chest. Billy takes his hand and shakes it, "Billy Showalt- OH MY GOD YOU'RE MY SOULMATE!" Finney flinches a bit at the shout but smiles and giggles. Griffin sighs and shakes his head, tightening his arms around Finney's waist. "He's the other boys' soulmate as well." Griffin says, reluctantly letting Finney out of his lap and handing him gently over to Billy who blushes when he's met with Finney's bare body.

"I usually have clothes on, don't worry, the man took them to clean them for some reason." Finney reassures, letting Billy hesitantly place his hands on his hips and pull the blond into his lap. Billy takes his hands away and pulls his hoodie off over his head and pulls it down over Finney's, revealing the white sweater he had on underneath. "Dude, what the fuck, why are you wearing a sweater and a hoodie?" Griffin asks, thoroughly disgusted with the other brunette's clothing choices. "It was cold!" Billy defends himself once he's finished helping Finney into his hoodie. "That does not mean you wear a sweater underneath a hoodie!" Griffin snarks back, letting Finney use his shoulder to help him stand up. The blond walks around the corner into the bathroom and Griffin hears a door shut. He continues to argue with Billy over his stupid decisions and pays no attention to the fact Billy has an awkward boner, although, he bets it's because Finney had sat in his lap for a few minutes. He got worked up over anything, once, Bruce had said that just sleeping in the same bed as your soulmate was supposed to be euphoric and Billy had popped one after thinking about it for too long and all the boys had made fun of and teased him for it, even Robin, who never really got involved with them other than hanging out with them.

Griffin tries not to laugh when Finney comes back and settles back down on Billy's lap and the brunette looks like he could die happily in that moment. Griffin can tell by the smug look on Finney's face that he knows the affect he has on Billy and the struggle to not laugh becomes even harder. Billy looks mortified but wraps his arms around Finney's waist anyway and Finney starts explaining where they are and what's happening. The brunette looks rightfully disturbed and pulls the back of his hoodie down over Finney's ass in a subconscious movement of protection. The blond kisses Billy's cheek, trying to sooth him, and it works a little because he blushes bright red and looks away. Finney laughs and Griffin joins in. "I can see that everyone likes making fun of me." Billy makes a show of huffing and flopping onto his back with Finney still in his lap. The blond is still sitting up so Griffin sits himself over Billy's legs and turns his head with a hand on his jaw to press a kiss to Finney's lips.

Billy opens his eyes to see Griffin and Finney practically making out on top of him and groans but doesn't do anything to stop it. The phone starts ringing again and Finney head snaps toward it, noticing the fact he could see shoes that looked oddly like Robin and Gwen's through the window, he could also see 'Al's' black van rolling past them and into the driveway. The phone stops ringing when Finney lifts himself off of Billy and rearranges the blanket to cover his legs. He lets Griffin lay his head in his lap and feels Billy lay his head on his shoulder. A few minutes later the door clicks open and 'Al' walks in, holding Finney's clothes. "You boys are getting along, good." The man seems put off, like he's seen something that might make it harder for him to keep the boys in his basement and Finney immediately knows that it was in fact Robin and Gwen's shoes he had seen when he looked out the window. "Did something happen?" Finney asks sweetly, taking the clothes out his hands. The skirt is new, the same brand and colour as his other one but it's longer and actually covers things. "Such a sweet boy, no, everything's alright. Although, I did see that little friend of yours. He seems to not have given up hope, he and your little sister are skulking around the neighbourhood." Finney pretends to be shocked.

The man walks closer to the boys and places a gentle hand on Finney's cheek, the blond has to forcefully keep Griffin's head planted in his lap and Billy is frozen so he doesn't really have to worry about him. "You don't want to leave me, do you?" He asks, watching as Finney leans into the affection. "No." Finney lies, forcing himself to press a kiss to the man's wrist. 'Al' practically glows, leaning down to press a kiss to Finney's lips before leaving, locking the door. When all of the clicks are done, Finney bursts into tears. Griffin is immediately up and wrapping him up in a hug, "Shh, it's okay. We're going to get out of here, I promise." He shushes softly, laying down with the blond sobbing into his chest. "I've been here for five years, don't you think I've tried everything? I don't even know if Gwen and Robin will figure out my clues in time before he ends up kidnapping the others or killing one of you!" Finney's in hysterics now, sobbing loudly and struggling to breathe. Billy stands up and rushes into the bathroom, coming out with a cup filled with water. He kneels next to the other boys and motions for Griffin to sit them both up and he complies and watches as Billy holds the cup to Finney's lips, urging him to drink the water.

The blond takes a sip and almost immediately calms down. Billy blinks, "I didn't expect it to work that quickly." Griffin shoots him a look, rubbing Finney's back as he continues to take little sips from the water. "Is that better?" Billy asks, gently taking the cup from Finney so he can slump into Griffin. The blond nods, wiping his tears. "How did you know what to do?" Finney asks weakly, accepting the kiss Griffin offers him. "My mum's like that sometimes. If I get her to focus on sipping the water then she usually calms down after a while, but I didn't expect you to calm down that quickly." Finney smiles at him, opening his arms and letting Billy lay on his chest after he puts the water down on the floor. They stay like that until Finney gets up to put his clothes back on and hands the hoodie back to Billy which then gets confiscated by Griffin because he'd be damned if he let his best friend wear the thing over a sweater. Finney climbs in between the brunettes and falls asleep to the soft humming from Billy and Griffin's comfortable weight pressing into his chest.

TW!!!
mentions of castration (removing the penis), describes gory details. If you don't like gore, it's only mentioned but if you wish to skip it, the only mentions of it are in the paragraph starting with "a police officer comes out of the house..." :) there is also rape and sexual assault implied all throughout this chapter.

Chapter Text

Gwen was going to have a stern talking to with Jesus when she gets home. Weeks had passed by without a dream, or a clue, on where Finney was. Her and Robin had looked high and low on RoseLane Drive for Finney and the other missing boys. Vance had been missing for three days already and Bruce and Robin decided it was better for them to stick together so they both walked Gwen to and from school before taking turns sleeping at the other's house. Their parents were happy about this, and Gwen knew the parents of the missing boys were slowly giving up hope, slower than her own parents had with Finney, which endears her to them. None of the missing boys' mothers had killed themselves yet, Gwen's mother had done it after two weeks, and if they had present fathers, the fathers hadn't drank themselves sick like Gwen's had already been doing before Finney got kidnapped. She could see the parents with every single search party there was and nearly cried when she saw Griffin's mother and Vance's mother comforting each other when the search party came up empty for the last time that day. Gwen, no matter how hard she tried not to, was also giving up hope. She got up one morning and didn't feel like she was doing anything by searching RoseLane Drive and had immediately burst into tears when she realised what she had thought. She couldn't give up, not when they were so close to finding her older brother! She just needed prompting from dreams to help her find him and the other boys!

Gwen falls asleep easily and is immediately bombarded with a dream with a different feeling than her other ones. She stands, stuck to where her feet stand on asphalt, and watches as this man in magician clothes kidnaps each and every boy. She watches as he creeps up behind Finney and sprays something into his eyes, catching him before he crumples to the floor. She watches as he wraps a cloth with chloroform on it over Griffin's mouth, not caring to catch him before he bangs his head on the floor. She watches as he hits Billy hard on the back of the head with a can of something. She watches him nearly get his wrist bit off as he wrestles Vance to the floor and hits his head of blond curls into the concrete. She especially watches when he brings all of them into 1275 RoseLane Drive and cheers internally when she realises. This is where the boys are! Gwen tries to wake herself up but comes up blank, watching the disgusting man's looks and touches with Finney, watches when her older brother bursts into tears when the man leads him back into the basement after violating him in ways Gwen didn't want to, and is thankful she didn't, see. Gwen is forced out of the dream and starts sobbing happy tears, rushing out of her bed and throwing some clothes on and not bothering to tell her father that she knows where his son is before sprinting all the way to Robin's house, where she knew he and Bruce were staying that night.

She doesn't care that it's 2:58am and that it's a school night, she just runs, muscle memory leading her to Robin's house in Harper Court, ten minutes away from her own house. She gets there in four minutes with how fast she runs, never stopping and tripping every few slams of her feet. She pounds hard on the door and Robin's uncle answers the door, letting her in when she exclaims that she needs to see Robin and Bruce immediately. He watches confused as she runs up the stairs, not bothering to knock on the boy's door before slamming it open and flicking the light on. Both Robin and Bruce groan but stop short when they see how determined she is. "Hurry up and get up, Arellano! I know where the boys are!" The boys scramble up and pull shoes on when they're downstairs, not caring that they're still in their sleepwear. Robin's uncle and mother ask what they're doing and follow Gwen's instruction to get the police to 1275 RoseLane Drive for suspicion of kidnapping as the girl and two boys sprint out of the house and down the street to the dreaded street.

The police get there before they do, already banging on the door as they slow to a stop, panting. They watch as the door slams open, revealing a dishevelled Griffin Stagg. Gwen's heart soars. She was right! The dream was right! She and Bruce and Robin watch as the boys make their way out of the house, being checked for injuries by the police and paramedics and being hugged by their parents who Gwen guesses were called after Robin's mother called the police. Robin's knees buckle and Bruce holds him up when Finney comes out of the door, blood splattered all over his clothes and his teeth dyed red because of the substance. There's a big grin on his face, showing off the red teeth and he's holding a bloody sledge hammer in his right hand and Gwen can see a trickle of blood pool out of his mouth and drip down his mouth, dropping onto the red splotched sweater he wore. Robin regains his strength and runs, full speed, at Finney, slamming into him with a hug as they both fall to the floor. Gwen and Bruce run over too, catching the last end bit of Finney's reply to Robin. "... I killed him." He says it with a little laugh, his smile softening into something relieved. Gwen sobs happily, falling to her knees and clutching her older brother to her shoulder as she sobs and cries into his hair. Bruce smiles softly, letting the trio have their moment before going to check on his other friends.

A police officer comes out of the house, green in the face and he immediately throws up in the bushes outside the house. When he's finished, he gathers the boys and Finney together, Gwen still clinging to her brother and Bruce and Robin in between Gwen and Vance. He turns his attention, first, to Finney. "You did a number on him, kid, though I don't blame you. How on God's green Earth did you castrate him?" Finney grins at that, sharp and red. "I bit it off." He says and Gwen and the other boys shudder harshly. "And was he doing something to you that meant it was already in or near your mouth?" The officer asks hesitantly. Finney nods minutely, eyes dropping to the floor.  Gwen burns with rage and sees out of the corner of her eye that Robin gags and Bruce fully turns around and throws up. The other boys look furious, but knowing. "Did he do anything to you boys?" The officer asks Griffin, Billy and Vance and they shake their heads, eyes hard as they watch the paramedics wheel the dead man out of his house on a stretcher, covered in a white sheet. Under the street light, Gwen can see the sheet dip down into a hole in the man's forehead. She turns excitedly to Finney, "Did you put a hole in his head?" The officer looks at the body too and holds back a gag. "No, he didn't. He did, however, dent the skull in more than one place, smashed the bones in his right wrist to complete dust and disfigured the man's ribcage and pelvis. His eyes were also found disconnected from the body and a few metres away." Finney gets this proud glint in his eye when he hears the damage he did to the man and Gwen is immensely proud of her older brother, and it looks like his boys are proud of him too.

When they're cleared for injuries, the police drive both Gwen and Finney home. Finney doesn't look too happy at leaving his soulmates so they promise to make their way to Robin's house after they get changed, which all of the parents agree to. Finney still fits into the clothes he had before getting kidnapped so he ruffles through his clothes after a shower, not looking too happy at the fact his father seemed to have thrown all of his jeans and his binder out and only kept the dresses, skirts, t-shirts and shorts. He groans before sliding into a short, white, flowy summer dress that he pairs with a light blue cardigan and knee high white socks with his dirty blue converse with stars and constellations doodled onto the white rims that still somehow fit him after five years. Gwen walks him to Robin's and Robin's uncle drives her back, leaving her with a ten dollar note to get herself something to eat, which she's extremely thankful for.

~

It's 5:29am when Finney and his boys settle down in Robin's bedroom, the boys on the floor and Finney rolling around in Robin's bed, in Robin's clothes, mind foggy and blissfully dizzy with the smell of both Robin and Bruce in the sheets. Robin had Gwen give his binder to him when their dad started throwing out all of Finney's masculine clothes, although he couldn't salvage the actual male clothes, he had managed to save Finney's binder, which the blond had agreed to not wear as he was on the verge of falling asleep. Right now, though, Finney wanted all of his boys on him somewhere and he was determined to get it so he slips off Robin's bed and drapes himself across Billy, Vance and Griffin's laps and Robin understands his body language and rests a hand on his head, scratching idly as he continues his conversation with Bruce, a lot more talkative now that he has his Estrella bonita back. Bruce gets the message as well and strokes Finney's stomach in small, soothing circles and Finney falls asleep like that, all of his boys safe and protected in Robin's house. He, for once, dreams no dreams and has no nightmares that night.

Chapter Text

Finney felt so so so warm. He was snuggled in Robin's bed with him, safe and comfy in the taller male's arms. It's been a few years since he killed The Grabber and he's been slowly getting better with his paranoia and PTSD and wasn't so scared to walk anywhere alone anymore, but still sticks to his boys if he can. The grandfather clock in the hallway downstairs chimes the notification that it's now 12:00am the next day and he grins, twisting his head to look at Robin who's already looking at him. "Happy Birthday, Robin." He whispers and Robin grins fondly, leaning down to press a kiss to Finney's lips and he presses back, clambering over him to sit on the now sixteen year old's hips to kiss him deeper.

Finney jolts when Robin's tongue pokes at his lips but opens up to him easily and muffles his moan with Robin's lips. Robin's hand slips under his t-shirt that Finney stole from him and traces the notches of his spine and Finney shudders, hips bucking pleasantly against Robin's slowly hardening cock. The boy groans and keeps his hips still with the other hand while he moves the one under his shirt to trace Finney's ribs. "Dios mío, Finn, we need some meat on your bones." Robin whispers, dragging his fingers along the underside of the blond's breasts and the boy keens, hands coming to support himself on Robin's abdomen. The blond lets Robin slip his shirt off and pulls the other boy up to drag his shirt off too, hands roving over everything that belongs to him, because Robin is his soulmate which means he belongs to Finney but Finney also belongs to him and his other boys.

Robin groans appreciatively when Finney ruts against his groin and lets Finney pull his shorts and boxers down and wrap his hand around his cock, sitting up with Finney to his side. Robin slots his lips over Finney's as he jerks him off, thumbing at the slit and twisting his wrist. He pulls away to pull Finney's own shorts and boxers down, fingers sliding easily into his folds and circling his clit before slipping two fingers inside the tight heat. Finney's wrist stops moving and he pulls his hand away before leaning down and taking the cock down his throat. Robin moans, quickening his fingers and swiping his thumb over Finney's clit. Finney gags and Robin reaches over into his bedside table to grab a condom, placing it in Finney's hand and hisses as the blond lifts his head and slips the condom over his cock before placing a kiss to the tip, letting spit drool until he's soaked thoroughly.

Robin pulls his hand away from Finney, sucking the slick off his fingers as Finney pushes him to lay down on his back and holds Robin in place. He sinks down and moans at the stretch and Robin groans, hands grabbing the boy above him by the hips. Finney sits down fully and supports himself once again with his hands on Robin's chest, leaning down to kiss Robin squarely on the lips as the other male jerks his hips up. The blond squeals, getting the idea and swivelling his hips as a tease before he starts bouncing, breaking the kiss to sit up and use Robin's chest to push himself up and down. Robin moans and Finney whines, eyes closing and teeth biting his bottom lip as he smiles lewdly. "Fuck, Estrella bonita, you're so pretty, could look at you like this all day." Robin gets out between pants and moans and Finney's just happy he's moaning because he's heard from girls that boys don't usually moan and only grunt and groan.

Robin, it seems, has had enough of the slow pace and flips Finney over and pulls his legs over his hips to push back in and thrust harshly into the blond. Finney squeals loudly and sobs afterwards, arms wrapping around Robin's neck just to hold onto something. The last piece of the bond that's been weaving together for nearly eleven years, now,  finally snaps firmly into place and Robin's groan is drowned out by Finney's gasp as he registers Robin's pleasure as well as his own and whimpers as he pulls Robin down to kiss him harshly, all teeth and tongue. Their orgasms come quickly, Finney pulsing and Robin following quickly afterwards, panting and moaning as they thumb through their new feelings.

Finney can feel Robin's satisfaction and love and it's a shocking thing. He can tell which emotion is his and which is Robin's which he didn't know he'd be able to do and relishes in the weight Robin puts on him, pressing him into the mattress, cock softening inside him. He slips out and pulls the condom off, tying it and putting it in the bin that he keeps next to his bed, flopping back down on top of Finney. "You never did tell me what 'Estrella bonita' means." Finney sighs, hands running through Robin's long hair. "It means 'Pretty Star', Mi Vida." Robin says, pulling the blanket over them and feels Finney shuffling out from under him, laying next to him. He turns over to look at the blond and smiles at the fond look he's being given, shuffling down some to press his face into Finney's breasts. Finney huffs but wraps his arms around his head anyway, pulling his body close. Robin thinks he could stay here for the rest of his life and knows distantly that Finney would let him.
