Chapter 1: Arrival

Chapter Text

Tina's pov:

I sat on the boat heading towards a pretty gloomy-looking island. I was sent here by a lady who knew a woman who lived here that would help with my "Peculiarity." I didn't know what that meant but I just went along with it. Then the thought came to me that this woman might be a murderer...But it's ok if I get killed I get killed. I opened my phone to go on Tiktok before our stupid president mister captain Cheeto bans it. I screamed when I found out there was no signal here. Everyone on the boat looked at me and I huffed and put my phone away.

Once we arrived on the island I looked on my piece of paper to where I would find the home. The island didn't seem like a place for children to live since it got bombed in 1943. I gave up after 4 minutes because I'm lazy. I took out my phone and opened the camera to take some photos that maybe I could post on Instagram once I got a signal. Honestly, I didn't expect much from the island since I'm a pretty basic person. I wonder if a dark-haired sassy man will kidnap me here I mean it would be the perfect place. No shut it Tina you know that won't happen, that only happens in books.

My whole life I knew I was an outcast but I honestly didn't care since all the people around me are toxic. We don't stan toxic people in this household. I had these abilities ever since I was five and now I'm 16 so really people have been jealous of me all my life. I'm just kidding I literally look like a rat...a smexy rat. This is why you have no friends Tina. I went back to the beach and took a blanket from my bag out. I sat down and took out the book thief because why not. I read for maybe about 3 hours when I noticed that I finished the book. I looked at my watch and hurried to get all my stuff in my bag. I ran back up the island and followed the map that the women had given me. I was about 4 hours late which was of course an awful introduction but the woman was going to have to suck it up.

I arrived in a little cave that took me a very long time to get to so this home better be good. This better is like some Hogwarts stuff or something. I went through the cave with high hopes that Massimo was on the other side. I walked into what looked like the island but a lot happier. I kept walking until I finally found a person who directed me to the children's home. Since I am an avid reader I already knew that I probably time traveled, a reason to why there was a huge grin on my face. I walked up to a big house that had only one light on which I suspected was the kitchen or something. Instead of knocking on the door like a normal person I walked to the window with the light and stood on my suitcase and stared in the window like an idiot. I saw a very beautiful woman wiping down the table and taking a sip of water every few seconds. She finally picked up a letter that had my name on it.

I fell down from my suitcase which scared me and triggered my peculiarity. I could manipulate weather which was really helpful at times. Since the fall scared me it started raining with a strong wind. I got up and looked up to see the woman staring at me from the window. I don't know what came over me but the rain stopped and I just started running towards the door. I don't know why I did this since I can't even ask for ketchup at McDonald's. I stood at the front door and knocked hoping to make a better introduction to the woman I probably already disappointed. The woman opened the door and smiled at me as she rushed me in since I was soaked by the rain I had caused.

"Miss Peregrine delighted to meet you," she said sticking a hand out

"Um Ti-Tina Pippins um I guess same to I- I mean delighted to meet you"

She smiled and led me upstairs to which I'm guessing is my room. So far the women seemed nice and the house didn't seem like a torture house. I decided to make my move and apologize for being late.

"Um sorry for being late by the way. I just got caught up in reading that I didn't notice the time." I said hoping she will accept it. She smiled at me and thankfully accepted my apology. She opened the door to a plain room that would soon be decorated with my dark academia decorations. I smiled and walked inside putting my two suitcases and backpack on the floor next to my bed. I turned around and asked a pretty stupid question that I already knew but just wanted more explanation.

"Why am I here exactly Miss Peregrine?"

She walked towards me and gave me a towel that she somehow found. "Well, Tina your something called a peculiar which is someone who has special abilities. We live in places like these to keep us safe from the outside world." She said smiling as I tried myself with the towel. Then out of nowhere, I asked another stupid question that left me internally screaming.

"How old are you?" I said which made me put my head in my hands and left me trying to change the subject. "I mean- uh you don't have to answer I was just- um you know since haha 1943- um I'll just be quiet now," I said turning around and opening up my suitcase to find my pj's.

I turned back around to find her looking at me oddly and I just apologized as fast as I could hoping I didn't offend her.

"Its alright Miss Pippins" she said smiling "That's just not usually one of the first questions most people ask when they arrive. If your so curious though I'm 35." She said smiling, yeah the smile soon faded once she saw the look I was giving her which was a look saying "I don't believe you." I apologized again saying that I just can't control my emotions at times.

"I guess it's time for sleep," I said playing with my pj's

She smiled and told me that tomorrow I could meet the others which I expected were the children. She finally left and I changed into my pj's which was just a plain polka dotted one from Victoria's Secret. I looked around the room and looked out the window at the village. I put on my headphone and put on my playlist that thankfully didn't need a signal. The first song to come on was Heather by Conan Gray which was one of my favorite songs. I thought about the fairy lights and mini library I would have in the room. Also, my record player and plants that I would have around the room. The paintings I would hang up and my art area that would be in one corner and also the statues that would go on my shelves. I took out my sketchbook and sat on the bed drawing out what I would want the room to look like.

After a few minutes of drawing, I heard a knock at the door. I opened it to find a blond boy around 12-13 with a monocle and dark circles around his eyes. This kid probably hasn't slept in weeks I thought to myself.

"I just heard some noises up here and I decided to check it out. You must be the weather manipulator Tina, right?" he said sticking out his hand

I shook his hand and replied "Yes, um yeah that's me" I said looking behind him

He walked in and looked at my sketchbook that was on the bed. "Looks like you have a lot of plans for this room- Wait is that a sewing machine?" I had drawn an are with fabric and a sewing machine.

"Yea I usually make most of my clothes out of things I can find. Kind of like Micarah Tewers if you think about- wait never mind you don't know her" I said cutting myself off remembering this was 1943.

"That's great!" He said pretty excitedly "I'm a big follower of fashion but right now you can't really since I'm in my nightwear." he said looking at the drawing "My apologies! he said putting it down and looking at me "Horace Somnusson, I have Prophetic dreams. Which does keep me awake at night." He said the last sentence very quietly. "I guess I should let you get some sleep now but I hope to see you tomorrow," He said looking back at me as he went down the hall.

I smiled and wished him goodnight. I started wondering how these people looked so young even though they were most likely in their 80's. I shook the thought out of my and just went to bed even though I knew it would take a while to go to sleep. I mean this is what Netflix does to you at night.

Chapter 2: Meeting The Peculiars

Chapter Text

Tina's pov:

I woke up that morning with the same I don't actually want to get out of bed. I looked at my phone which was charging in my portable charger. I took it out and turned it on hoping for a signal but then again one didn't come. I looked through my camera roll at all the pictures and laughed when I found a video of a frog screaming. The quarantine for Covid-19 really messed up my humor so I was probably laughing at this video for about a good 15 minutes. I finally got up and opened my suitcase to find my morning skincare and an outfit for the day. I picked out a black turtleneck with a grey skirt and black flats. I opened the door to find an empty hallway which I was happy about, I then started panicking because that could mean that I'm already late for breakfast. I ran to the bathroom and took a bath and after did my skincare routine the Hiram would be very proud of, I put on my clothes and brushed my hair and I was off to breakfast.

I looked at my watch which I had earlier fixed to match the times in the UK. It was 8:10 and I still didn't know the schedule but I still went downstairs. I could smell food coming from what probably was the kitchen, once I got there I found Miss Peregrine with food and a girl around 6 years old helping her.

"Good Morning Miss Pippins," Miss Peregrine said turning around

"Um good- good morning," I said looking at my feet and not her face.

"This here is Miss Bruntley" she said looking at the girl next to her

"You can just call me Bronwyn," the girl said holding out her hand. She had short hair that was up to her jaw and she wore a white and red collared dress.

I shook her hand and nodded so she knew that I understood. I just watched as the two started with the table when I finally snapped back to reality.

"I can help if you want?" I asked trying to be nice

Miss Peregrine smiled "that's very kind of you Miss Pippins but if you really want to you can start by putting the food on the table." I did as told and started putting the pancakes in the middle of the table.

"What's your name since I know it's not Miss" Bronwyn giggled. I looked up to see the little girl staring at me and I turned pink remembering I hadn't said my name.

"Tina's my name," I said smiling. For a lazy person like me, I was surprisingly really good with children.

"That's a really nice name! Tina, Tina Tina" she said in a sing-songy kind of voice.

I went back into the kitchen to finish putting the food out and once I was done I remembered that I forgot to brush my teeth, I'm a literal idiot. I went upstairs and grabbed my toothbrush and toothpaste and I headed to the bathroom because where else am I supposed to brush my teeth. After I was done and head back downstairs to find the breakfast table full which made me go right back out because I didn't have the social capabilities to talk to so many people. Miss Peregrine saw me though and thankfully introduced me so I didn't have to do one of those stupid icebreaker things.

"Everyone this is Tina Pippins," she said bringing me back in "she is going to be staying with us until further notice." I smiled and waved as I could feel my face heat up and my cheeks go pink again. Miss Peregrine sat back down at the head of the table which left one seat left next to Bronwyn and Horace. I took the seat since I had already met both of them and just awkwardly smiled at everyone else. I was immediately bombarded with questions about the modern world and myself which scared me a bit.

"Children! We do not bombard our guests with such questions. Now if everyone could please introduce themselves and their peculiarity." She said raising her voice a bit which got everyone's attention.

Everyone went in a circle starting with Horace at then ending with Bronwyn. Horace of course had dreams of the future, Hugh was a boy with bee's in his stomach, Fiona was a girl who could make plants grow, Miss Peregrine is a ymbryne which can manipulate time and turn into a bird, Emma was a girl who could control air, Olive was a girl who could light fire with her hands, The twins were just as mysterious as they looked since they didn't talk, Millard was a boy who was completely invisible, and Claire was a cute girl with a mouth in the back of her head. I of course wasn't going to remember it all since I have an awful memory and a brain that is just filled with daydreams. There was one boy who just rolled his eyes and walked out once it was his turn and to everyone else, it seemed normal. I just went along with it because if he didn't like me that was okay, most people don't seem to like me anyway.

After Breakfast

I was immediately rushed out into the backyard by Emma who took me by the shoulders and started explaining everything. I wasn't really listening though since it was all boring.

"What's your peculiarity?" Was the question that put me back into reality

"Um uh, Manipu- Weather manipulation," I said putting a hand behind my neck hoping she didn't know I wasn't listening.

"That's amazing!" She said wide-eyed and excited. I was a little scared of her excitement but I just went along with it. She was called by Olive to do something so I was left alone in the garden.

I noticed that under a tree the boy who had walked out was doing something with clay. I thought he was making statues which I loved to do so I decided to head over and catch his name.

"Hi," I said with an awkward wave "I didn't catch your name earlier so I just came over to you know get to know the people I'm going to live with," I said with a chuckle. "Just to make sure you guys aren't murderers, am I right?" I said laughing awkwardly. He didn't do anything so I just guessed that he probably didn't like new people much. I didn't want to start beef so I just clapped my hands together and stood there

"Okay then! Well goodbye, I'm going to be in my room if you want to say hi- actually don't come in my room." I said putting a finger on my chin "maybe at dinner you can say hi or actually-" I didn't even say bye I just walked back to my room talking to myself. I started thinking about what decorations I was going to put in my room which honestly made me forget about that grumpy boy under the tree.

Enoch's pov:

I watched Tina as she walked away mumbling to herself. She was pretty weird and awkward, I mean that was easy to tell. She was also nothing like the rest of us since she seemed so modern. At breakfast, she seemed very distant as if she wasn't paying attention to anyone's names. She didn't seem bothered by anyone either as if she had done this a million times before. I could still her mumbling from where I was but it was hard to understand. I wasn't planning on saying hi to her anytime soon so I just returned to my homunculus.

I kept building until I finally finished my creation. I found a mouse heart in my pocket and I put it in the clay figure. It started heading in the direction that Tina had gone it and I immediately grabbed it and put it back in its place, it kept going in that direction though and I didn't understand why. I was focused on keeping the clay figure in place, well that was until I was interrupted by a voice with nobody.

"Got a crush Enoch?" chuckled a voice

"Oh piss off Millard"

Chapter 3: I Like To Be Alone

Summary:

a short chapter where Tina and Enoch get to know each other more

Chapter Text

Tina's pov:

The children and Miss Peregrine had just left for their walk. I decided to stay since I started getting headaches again. The only other person in the house with me was a grouchy boy, he was in the basement though.

I went downstairs to get myself some food, don't judge me I eat a lot. I opened the kitchen door to find the grouchy boy sitting at the table drinking some water with his dolls. I tried to walk past him but it didn't work for him.

"What are you doin?"

"Oh um just getting some water" I didn't want to tell him that I was getting food since we were having lunch in a few minutes. He shook his head and I got my water and I started leaving before I was stopped.

"Where you goin?"

"Well to my room obvi, I like to be alone." I giggled after saying that which made me look like an idiot.

"And why do you like to be alone?" He said in a sarcastic tone. I got confused for a second and then remembered it was a question. I sat down and smiled, I finally got a question I actually know the answer to.

"It's a simple answer really. Alone keeps me safe and it protects me, protects me from things Miss Saika never let me see. I like to be alone because I understand myself." I laughed after saying that.

"Well, sometimes I understand myself. It may make me seem like a loner or an outcast but I'm fine with it. If people don't like me they don't like me, it's really that simple. I mean here you guys are really old and don't really understand my slang or things I like so I just talk to myself. It may seem sad but it's really not, it helps me understand myself more and get to know myself better. I also get to deep dive into my imagination, oh how I love my brain it's so messed up! Overall being alone is good for you at times, so yea that's kinda why I like to lock myself in my room and crush over Draco Malfoy"

When I looked back up at him he had his mouth a bit open which made me feel like a fool. I never shared my feelings with others since no one ever asked me. I could tell this kid didn't like me since he closed his mouth and put a cold expression on his face. I didn't mind though, I got up and started walking away before I thought of a question.

"Why do you like to be alone?"

He sat there quietly for a second and just looked at his water. He seemed to have no answer to the question. I heard him mumble something but I couldn't hear it.

"What did you say?"

He rolled his eyes and replied "same reason as you"

"Oh, ok then. Chile anyways grouchy boy um I have to go. What's your name anyway?"

He looked up with cold eyes and something else I couldn't understand.

"Enoch, Enoch O'Conner"

Chapter 4: Modern People Are Weird

Chapter Text

That night

Enoch's pov:

I lay spread out on my bed staring at the ceiling. I felt nothing at moment. Except for one little thing, curiosity. My mind kept reverting to Tina and the way she acted. She was different from the rest of us but at the same time, she was the same. Well the only thing she had in common with us was that she was peculiar. She had only been here two or three days, I don't remember and she already isolates herself. I mean I now know why since we had a pretty deep conversation earlier. I felt connected with her in the way that we both like to be alone. She's just a silly girl though who doesn't even know how to use her peculiarity.

She's always talking about modern things even though Miss Peregrine asks her not to bring them up. She also doesn't mind when I'm rude to her or when I'm sarcastic. She seems to enjoy it. She's always off in her head as well, reminds me of Alice in Wonderland. She always talks to herself as if there was no one else to talk to. She doesn't really like talking about boys with Emma and Olive. She also doesn't really like playing sports. She loves to read but I can tell she gets bored with Millard. She seems bored of the loop already, bored of all of us.

During dinner, she doesn't talk much and she eats very little. Miss peregrine asked her if she didn't like it, she said she didn't like the carrots because they were bland and that the chicken needed more spices. We were shocked at how straightforward she was since everyone liked Miss Peregrines' cooking. She looked back down and kept eating and picking at the food whilst everyone stared at her. She didn't even seem to notice. Miss peregrine nodded her head and continued eating, I could tell she felt bad that her food "wasn't enough" for our guest. Tina finally noticed and reassured Miss peregrine that her cooking is great and that a little negative feedback shouldn't stop her. She seemed pretty clueless yet wise at the same time.

She always talks about a musical called "Hamilton." It's about one of America's founding fathers. Apparently, someone who played in the show named Daveed Diggs is her dream man. When I overheard her say this I could feel a jab in my heart, I didn't let it get the best of me though. I started wondering why I was thinking of her so much I mean modern people are weird-

I sat up to a quiet knock on my door. I didn't answer to pretend I was sleeping. The knocks just kept getting louder until I heard a familiar quiet voice.

"Tree Boy?" I sighed at the voice I didn't want to hear. It was Tina's.

"What do you want Tina?" I said with a groggy voice.

"I-I have um a bit of a problem with um my be-bedroom." I forgot to mention that this girl had a bit of a stutter. I turned red at the thought of her bedroom. I erased the thoughts and replied in a sarcastic tone.

"Why don't you got get Emma or somethin like that"

"They were sleeping"

"So was I"

"Oh- I'm sorry then I'll just get going. Goodbye tree boy- wait I'm sorry um goodnight E-Enoch" I could hear her whispering to herself as he left my door. I immediately got up for no reason and opened the door to head upstairs. I don't know why I wanted to follow her, I just did. It got colder the more I went upstairs and I know we didn't have the windows open. That when I saw it, that when I saw her. She looked up crying and standing in front of her room which had snow and wind coming out of it.

"I accidentally started a snowstorm in my room and I don't know how to stop it." She silently chuckled out.

I stood there in shock as the snow kept building up in her room. I walked closer to her and then I was finally in front of her room. It looked practically like winter in there. Snow everywhere, cold wind, frosty feelings. But I could feel something else, a warmth and that when I looked at her. She was standing close to me with her palms glowing like Olives when she heats things up.

"I tried melting it but it was too much. I believe it might be in my head"

"What's in your head?" I practically screamed whispered

"The snowstorm of course!"

"Then stop it-"

"Oh, bird! What happened here!"

Chapter 5: What A Clueless Girl

Chapter Text

Miss Peregrine's POV:

I stood in the middle of the hallway seeing Enoch and Tina in front of her room. I felt a chill while reading and I decided to go check it out. Making sure I didn't leave any windows open. When I opened the door I could see a faint light from Tina's room, that's when I saw the snow.

"Tina what happened!" I said now standing in front of her room

"Uh-I kind of um"

"She set off an accidental snowstorm in her room," Enoch said in reply.

"Oh my!" I responded.  "Can you stop it, Tina?" I asked softly. She paused and looked down at her feet

"No...." she said as if she was ashamed of herself.

"That alright," I said I got closer. She seemed scared as if I were going to punish her for this mistake. I looked up at Enoch who was staring at her with eyes of sympathy. I told him he could go but he refused. I nodded my head and bent down to Tina's level looking her in the eye.

I helped Tina gain control of her peculiarity again and we finally cleaned up all the snow that we could. Most of Tina's room was soaked and she definitely wouldn't be able to sleep in it. Through the entire cleanup though I could see Enoch eyeing Tina and watching the way she worked. I was shocked when he didn't leave because most of the time Enoch refused to do chores, for some reason he stayed.

Tina on the other hand didn't seem to notice that Enoch was staring at her. She seemed to be in her own world as she cleaned up everything. She hummed an unfamiliar tune that most likely was modern world music. Once we were done she just stared at me as if she was looking at my soul.

"Is everything alright Tina?" I asked, she giggled and then  replied "you have snow on you, Miss Peregrine." I touched my hair to feel it wet with a few snowflakes on it from the ceiling.

"Here let me get it for you." She grabbed a stool and stood on it as she picked at my hair. She didn't wait for an answer from me, she just did it. I watched as she individually took the snow that she could take off, off my head. She then flattened my hair with both hands to dissolve the rest I would suppose. That when I could feel a warmth on my head, she was drying my hair. Once she was done she got off the stool and put it back. I could see Enoch from the corner of my eye and he did not look happy. He seemed mad as if I was taking something away from him.

He was jealous.

But wasn't he always jealous of something?

No, he was jealous of me, he stared at me with rage.

Tina didn't notice

Why didn't she?

Wait...

Enoch might

Oh my

Tina definitely has something coming for her

Don't I know it

Chapter 6: I'm An Ugly Fish

Chapter Text

The next day

Tina's POV:

I sat in the living room with Horace and Millard. They were both reading while I was listening to Hamilton on my AirPods. I found a way through my peculiarity on how to charge them. I lay on the floor while Millard was online couch reading Homer and Horace was on the other reading Austen and drinking tea. Emma and Olive walked in giggling when they almost stepped on me.

"AH" screamed Olive

"Ah yes, my daily routine of scaring the crap out of people" I smiled as I said that thinking of the time I barked at someone who catcalled me.

Emma laughed and so did Olive as they walked around me and sat next to Horace

"Birds! You almost made me drop my tea!"

"You almost made me drop my croissant!" I mocked, they all paused and the room was as quiet as if it were empty.

"I said tea, not croissant" he replied while rolling his eyes.

"Oh, I know! It's something called a meme, you wouldn't understand it"

They all sat there looking at me weirdly but I just went back to listening to Hamilton. That's when Enoch finally came in and tripped over me.

"UGH," he said as he fell over

"Wh-why are you sitting there like that? You are sittin like an ugly fish!"

The girls gasped at his comment, Horace along with them. Millard put his bookmark in and closed the book a bit too harshly. I didn't understand why everyone looked so offended, he was telling the truth. Enoch shook his head and mumbled what I think was a sorry under his breath, the others didn't notice though. Once he left they all looked back at me as if I were a lost child who needed help.

"What he's telling the truth?"

"TINA," they all said in unison

Chapter 7: I Ship It

Chapter Text

Tina's pov:

I've been observing these people so far and I practically know all of their secrets. I'm just kidding! I have no idea about these people's lives! Well, I do know one person's secret, Olives. She fancies Enoch...Ha! I knew it! I remember finding out and I 100% ship it.

One night ago

Emma, Olive, and I sat in my room playing spill or drink. We played with the juice of course even though we could have taken miss peregrines wine. I hadn't drunk anything since the questions they asked were pretty stupid and boring. I decided to go with a basic question for Olive.

"Who do you fancy?" We both stared at Olive as she put down her drink. We got excited since she was going to tell us.

"I guess it's time to tell you guys...." we waited patiently for her to continue "Enoch."

"WHAT!" Screamed Emma

"YAY," I said, a completely different reaction from Emma's

Emma looked at me with a confused look when I said yay, so did Olive. I ended up going on a rant on how good they would look together. Olive smiled and got up to start cleaning up while Emma pulled me aside.

"Are you crazy?" Emma said as her grip tightened around my wrist

"What? Are you jealous?" I replied with sass

"What- no! I mean don't you see? They don't belong together!" I gasped at such a statement

"Ummmmm why would you say that Emma, that's incredibly rude. Is it because of Abe?" I said crossing my arms. Her eyes widened and she looked mad

"NO! Don't- just don't bring up Abe. I mean don't you see Tina... Enoch doesn't like her" she said with a quiet yet gloomy voice. It was clear she didn't want Olive to get hurt

I stood there in quiet as I thought about Olive and Enoch's interactions. I couldn't really remember but to be honest, Enoch acted the same with everyone. Maybe, I thought to myself, we could make Enoch like Olive. I smiled at the idea.

"Why are you smiling like that?" Emma asked with a worried look on her face.

"We can make them like each other!" I jumped in the air and started clapping. Emma rested her face, she started looking angrier every second.

"No Tina you aren't understanding, Enoch likes someone else." I stopped smiling as I could feel my heart fall from its place to my feet.

"Who?" I asked looking back at Olive who was folding the blankets. She looked at me as if I was stupid.

"Are you serious right now?" She asked

"Yes.... you know what I don't need your opinion. I'm going to play Cupid myself" I huffed

"Tina no you don't-"

"Nope I'm going to make this work," I said

Chapter 8: Lemon Boy

Chapter Text

One year later

Tina's POV:

"LEMON BOY" he wasn't answering

"LEMON BOY" I yelled once again

He finally turned around and looked at me with an annoyed face. I walked over and sat next to him putting my head on his shoulder. Olive sat on the other side and watched us intently, I smiled to make sure she knew I wasn't "claiming" anything.

Olive and Enoch had been dating for a year already (thanks to me!). When they first got together I was gleaming with joy. Emma on the other hand didn't seem too happy but I just shrugged it off.

We sat as Enoch continued playing with his dolls. Olive sat and watched as they moved and fought each other. It felt like hours watching him until Miss Peregrine had called Olive to make the tea. We sat for a while in silence until I finally spoke

"Wanna play Star Wars?"

"Star what?" Enoch asked confused obviously

"Star Wars! We take branches and pretend they are lightsabers. Then we try and kill each other!" I explained to the old man in a teenage body

"I guess that sounds fun-" I hit him with a branch before he could finish his sentence.

He looked around grabbed one and chased me with. We kept running and we ran into the forest near the village. Any chance we were close to each other we would watch each other. I laughed as I hit him on the back (we hit each other softly).

I ran to the edge of a tiny cliff when I saw Olive and someone else in the village. I was confused since Olive was supposed to be at home making the tea. I saw as she walked with a boy and then they disappeared. I shrugged it off (it could be a friend) but once as I turned around I was hit with a branch and me and Enoch went tumbling.

"Well, I guess you won lemon boy!"

Chapter 9: I Don't Get It

Chapter Text

A week later

Tina's pov:

I sat in the library alone reading a book. Most of the time I would read here with Horace and Millard, I don't currently know where they are. It got pretty boring since it was just all the same books. I spent most of my time outside or in the library working on projects. Miss Peregrine said I reminded her of someone, I don't know who though.

The door burst open and before I could see who it was I was pushed into another room. I finally looked up and saw Emma who looked enraged. She paced around the room with her hands on her head. I didn't understand why she looked so angry.

She finally looked at me and saw my confusion, her face softened. She grabbed my hands and told me something that pained me deeply

"Draco Malfoy is not real, you need to stop obsessing over him"

I backed up and put a hand over my mouth, I was shocked. I pointed my finger and told her that she wasn't real. She crossed her arms and proved her point. We went back and forth until she finally got to what she wanted to say.

"Why don't you see it?" She said

"See what?"

"That Enoch fancies you!" I gasped and looked down since it was wrong for him to like me, he was with Olive. I could never break her little heart.

"Oh don't look like that! You set them up, you got them together, even if he didn't have interest in her. Take this chance at love Tina! And please stop obsessing over a stupid wizard boy."

"He's not stupid!" I yelled, I was angry at her for trying to break them up. They were so cute and I loved them together. I would forever imagine being married to Draco Malfoy though.

"I may not be good with romance Tina but it's so painfully easy to see"

"Well if it's so painfully easy to see, why haven't I seen it?" I said crossing my arms

"BECAUSE YOUR BLOODY CLUELESS" She yelled at the top of her lungs.

Miss Peregrine barged into the room with a serious face. She had her pipe at the edge of her mouth and she leaned at the door.

"Is everything alright in here?" She said with her raspy voice

"Everything's fine Miss P...Emma's just being a dingbat, she's just jealous she lost Abe. She just thinks-she just." All I could do was throw a flower on her nightstand on the floor and barge out while almost knocking over Miss Peregrine. I was near the end of the stairs when I yelled "go catch a stupid squirrel, Emma!"

I turned around and opened the door to the bathroom. There I found Enoch against the sink crying.

Chapter 10: Village Boy

Chapter Text

Tina's pov:

I was wrong the entire time. You know I thought that they were perfect for each other. I even had a ship name for them, Enolive. I guess I just didn't understand. Why would she do this? Was I really this clueless?

I couldn't even look at her, nor could Enoch. He didn't deserve this, my little lemon boy deserves the world.

What went wrong? Was she lying to us? Was too afraid to tell us?

She chose such an awful way to tell us. Messing with someone's heart like that is awful. This was no mistake, I just couldn't believe it. Olive was kind, lovable, and caring. She would never do such a thing...but she did.

Now that I think of it, was Emma right? No, no don't think that Tina. You have to let Enoch get over this. Wait- no, no Tina you don't have feelings for Enoch. All you have to do is just comfort the little lemon boy.

And wish the best for Olive and her new village boy.

Chapter 11: Confronting Lemon Boy

Chapter Text

Third Person pov:

Tina stood next to the crying boy giving him a hug from behind. She did not understand what he was going through since she had never been through it. Nor did she understand why it had happened to him, Enoch had already been through so much. Enoch pushed her away and Tina jumped in shock. He looked back and shook his head, he continued to wash his face.

"I'm so sorry lemon boy, you don't deserve this" Tina said trying to make him feel better

The boy shook his head and walked out of the bathroom leaving Tina all alone. Before Tina went after him she looked to see if Emma and Miss Peregrine were gone, they had left. She rushed after him and slid through his door before he closed it.

"Talk to me lemon boy," Tina said in a serious voice, the boy did not reply. She kept trying but he just sat on his bed and stared at the window.

She wanted to help him but he wasn't contributing. She walked around and examined all the dolls that Enoch had. She stopped at one that looked like an exact replica of her. She smiled and played with the doll. The doll made its way over (with Tina's help) to Enoch bed and tapped him ever so slightly

"Oh lemon boy," Tina said in a child's voice. "Wake up and talk to meeee"

Enoch finally turned around, his face puffy and red. The doll wiped the tears and sat next to him, Tina soon followed after. She patted him on the arm and started talking

"You know lemon boy your one of my closest friends and what Olive did is cruel" the boy cringed at olives name.

"BUT we can't sit in our room all day and hide. I guess we were just wrong about if you two were fit for each other" Tina smiled at how well she was doing.

"Maybe we could play some branch wars! Yes, we can play branch wars to get your mind off her" Tina said as she hopped up and walked towards the door. She turned around and smiled

"Race ya to the forest"

The boy looked up and shook his head with a sly smile.

"Enoch and Tina stop running!" Yelled the headmistress as the two raced themselves out the door.

Chapter 12: Confrontation

Chapter Text

5 months later

Third-person pov:

Enoch walked the halls of the house, dragging his hands along the walls. He had been thinking about his life for the past few months. He thought about his relationship with Olive and his friendship with Tina.

From the first time he met her, he knew he needed her, he knew he needed to feel her soft hair brush against his chest, he needed to see her shy smile more often. He wanted it all. It was just the way he was. He wanted to have control over Tina but she wouldn't budge. You could mistake her for the pixie trope at first glance, but on the inside, she was just a log on the water floating down the river of life. She want so free though, she had strict schedules just like Miss peregrine, she didn't let people take her for advantage. It made Enoch cringe that he had ever thought of taking her in, caressing her, loving her.

His thoughts drowned him and wouldn't let him sleep at night. He would think of how he even got with Olive in the first place. I guess he felt pity for the girl and ended up falling in love. He shook his head, he was in the wrong too. His hand finally stopped as he reached his room. It contained his bed, all his tools, and all his hearts. His face went still and his dark eyes, a bit of sadness formed. His room was no place for hangouts or for date nights, but Tina didn't mind.

Once he opened the door he saw a girl with shiny brown hair with a collared shirt and black pants sitting on his bed, playing with what seemed to be..clay? Enoch immediately yelled at her to get out of the room until she turned around. Tina looked at him with her shy smile and showed him what she was making.

It was a figure of that damn Draco Malfoy kid. If he ever met him he would punch him right across the face. He rolled his eyes and grabbed rat hearts from the bed.

"What is this?" Enoch asked, enraged that she had taken his things. For some reason, he just couldn't get as mad as he would with anyone else.

"I-I was um gonna ask you to bring Draco here to life!" She said excitedly, her eyes gleaming with joy and her pearl white teeth showing her smile. Enoch shook his head and took the clay doll from her hands. He grabbed a heart and began to get to work. Tina watched from behind and Enoch bit his lip as he could feel her breathe on his neck.

She jumped around telling Enoch all the things she wanted the doll to do. He got jealous every second she kept talking about. He dropped his things and took a deep breathe

"Tina...listen to me" Tina turned and looked at him, she listened as told

Enoch sighed and began speaking "Tina I know you're obsessed with this dude but don't you think you should find a REAL boy? I mean I know he's somewhat attractive but come on" Tina looked sad and grabbed the doll from his hand.

"Real boys are a waste of time. Before I settle down with a man though I would like to educate myself and get a job" she said quietly. "Plus men aren't the only option"

Enoch smiled at what she said and grabbed the doll.

"Well...if I asked you out, would you give me a chance?"

Chapter 13: I Guess You're Right

Chapter Text

Third-person pov:

Tina looked at Enoch and started laughing. Enoch looked at her with anger. Tina fell to the floor laughing and Enoch threw his things onto the table. He knew that asking her out was just worthless. She never understood love, she was clueless, she thought fictional men were better than real men. That angered Enoch, how could you be in love with something that wasn't real?

Tina noticed his face and looked at her hands. She stood up and they stood in silence for what seemed like an eternity. She looked at Enoch and then back at her hands. She wrinkled her nose and took a breath.

"You're being serious, aren't you?" She said still looking at her hands. Enoch looked up and nodded his head.

"lemon boy-"

"Don't- don't say anything, Tina!"

"it's been only five months and I'm glad you're over her but I couldn't do that-"

"DO WHAT" Enoch yelled, making Tina flinch and fall to the floor again

"I don't know why you're yelling at me man," Tina said looking away from him, she was sensitive and was nearly in tears. Enoch sighed and began to speak

"I- Tina to be honest before you came...yes, I did have a crush on Olive, but you changed that. She then asked me out and I saw that you were encouraging her. I didn't want to break either of your hearts so I went with Olive to make you and her happy. Yes, I didn't love her at first but then I fell, and she went off. So what I'm saying is that maybe love isn't fit for either of us-"

"I guess your right" Tina said. She walked out of the room in tears leaving Enoch alone just like how she did in the beginning.

Chapter 14: A Secret

Chapter Text

Third-Person pov:

Throughout the following months, Tina and Enoch barely spoke to each other. Enoch had given up on his dream of going with the glamorous girl in front of him. At night he would dream of them spending nights together or hanging out under the tree. Tina on the other hand tried her best to ignore the feelings that had been growing inside her. Tina never spoke or thought of love, she only did with fictional characters. She had even bought a book on shifting just so she could make her dreams come true. It never ended up working though.

It was clear to Emma that something had happened between them and she tried to get Tina to speak up. Tina always avoided the question, even when Emma confronted her about it. Emma tried her luck with Enoch but he just shut the door in her face. Emma began to think that she was never good at love, I mean she did lose Abe to an American. Emma would sneak out at night and take trips out on the ocean. She would stare at the sky and hum a little tune, her favorite was dream a little dream of me. She imagined her and Abe dancing at a diner late at night. The cars were beeping and they were surrounded by other couples while dancing. She would smile until she hit a rock, her point to not go too far, and she would head back knowing that her dream would never happen, that Abe would never come back.

Enoch stared at his wall, he could hear the clicks of his clock on the wall. He had tried to hide his feelings for Tina, he tried to put them away in the beginning. He tried to give up on the dream of being with Tina. They grew too strong and he couldn't take it anymore, he needed her. Enoch hated love ever since he watched Emma get heartbroken. Once she ran off on her boat and Miss Peregrine had to find her in her bird form. He got up and took the doll he had made for Tina. He grabbed his hearts and went upstairs to Tina's room. Only his surprise, she wasn't there.

Tina sat on the cliff with her knees under her head. Next to her sat the last book to the Harry Potter Series and a picnic basket. She watched as the night was silent and the waves were calm. The calm and kind energy made her jealous, jealous that this energy wasn't happening in her life. Her hair flew in the wind and her white nightgown barely touched her feet. Her eyebrows furrowed and she slammed her fist onto the ground, her brown eyes turning a bit blue. The thunder roared in the sky and rain began to fall. Her once dry brown hair was beginning to turn wet and dark by every second.

Enoch heard the thunder and saw the lightning flash in the sky. He knew that Tina was angry and he knew where she was. He ran outside through the back door since he knew Miss Peregrine would be going after Tina in a few minutes. Once he got outside his pj's were soaked and his hair was a mess. He tried to cover the doll and he ran towards the ocean. He watched as the waves crashed into each other and how the moonlight made the water sparkled. He felt the wet rocks at his feet and that's when he saw her. He watched as the girl put a book in a picnic basket and how her white nightgown tightened at her curves. He took a breath and yelled at Tina for causing such chaos. Tina flinched and her eyes went wide once she saw Enoch.

In Tina's mind, everything seemed like a teen rom-com. The two love interests finally noticed their love. Tina felt her heart flutter as she saw what Enoch had in his hands, it was a doll of her. He walked towards her with a straight face and he spoke with a monotone voice. The rain still pouring and the waves still making noise.

"I hope you like it," Enoch said as he inserted a heart into the doll.

He whispered into its ear and it walked down his arm to Tina. It pulled her closer and the two were almost mouth to mouth and Tina shook her head. Enoch's face went dark and the doll kissed Enoch's cheek. Tina began to stutter and her face went red. Enoch didn't smile but there was a light in his eyes

"Even in sad times Miss Pippins, you are still my light," Enoch said as the doll cuddled into his chest. Tina laughed as she punched him on the arm.

"This isn't a cheesy rom-com lemon boy," Tina said as she looked at her bare feet.

"I do not know what that is but I bet we are acting such a scene and you are just denying it," Enoch said as he rolled his eyes. The thunder roared once again.

Tina laughed and pulled him in for a kiss. One that both had them been wanting for a while, even though both of them didn't want to admit it. The kiss lasted for eternity and the rain poured down their faces. The waves seemed to finally go silent and everything was calm, everything was right. They pulled away and Enoch kept his straight face, love in his eyes now.

"Enoch-" Tina began, the boy got worried and he grabbed her hand.

"I-I just-" Tina said

"You what?" Enoch said with a defensive tone.

"I- I just wanted to know if we could keep this a secret, well..for now" Tina said with a soft smile as she looked up at him

"Of course," Enoch said in reply and he grabbed her hand, leading her back to the house.

Tina let go for a second and she grabbed her picnic basket. They were holding hands and they ran back to the house. On their way there they bumped into an angry and worried Miss Peregrine. She stopped them both and stared at them with death in her eyes. Her eyebrows furrowed and her hair tied up with curlers, her makeup off and her nightgown reaching her feet.

"Dear bird you too...YOU GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK!" The headmistress yelled

Chapter 15: It Takes Time

Summary:

this is just a fill-in chapter where Enoch and Tina kind of bond and cuddle with each other. It also takes place a few weeks later from the last chapter

Chapter Text

Third-person pov:

The sun shined through the window and her pen fell to the floor, making a small sound when it hit the floor. Tina sighed as she picked up the pen and continued writing in her journal. The room was filled with books with just a few couches and tables. Tina sat on a white couch with tea and biscuits, or that's what they called them. Horace and Olive offered her some and of course, she accepted.

The journal lay open with a title and little stickers around the pictures of a boy. Tina always worked on her bullet journal alone, she always felt that the others wouldn't understand. The boy had a pale complexion and dark hair, the boy didn't smile. Tina began to work on drawing a picture of her and Enoch at the beach. She loved the beach, the way it shined, and how the waves crashed. It was also the place where they fell down the hole, the hole of happiness, curiosity, anger, and sadness.

Tina stared at the boy on the page and flipped back to reminisce on her recent crushes. The first was Draco Malfoy, well if he were ever to come to the loop Tina might have to leave Enoch. The next was Spider-Man. It wasn't a big deal but Tina did think he was attractive. She flipped the pages and cringed at what she had written down for everyone. Her personal favorite was Levi from Attack On Titans. She liked the way she had designed the page, her soft hands rubbing the stickers and pictures on it.

The door slightly opened and Enoch watched as Tina admired and cringed at each page. He walked towards the couch as quietly as he could, his eyes still on her. He sits down and Tina looks up with a smile. Enoch loved her smile, her bright teeth, and the way her eyes closed as she looked up.

He grabbed a biscuit and Tina smiled and she tried to get it back. She tried to grab it but her hand made contact with his cheek instead. Tina stopped and bent down as she knew his anger issues might take over. Enoch spit out the biscuit and yelled at Tina

"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR?" Enoch asked

Tina looked down, her face turned red and she wished she hadn't tried to take away the biscuit. This was another moment of embarrassment for her list. Enoch rubbed his cheek but once he saw the shaking girl his face calmed and his eyes showed worry. Enoch knew he had anger issues but he didn't want to accept the fact.

Enoch rubbed Tina's back and she looked up at the boy, his eyes looking into hers.  She returned to her sitting position and stared at the journal that lay on the cold floor. They sat in silence, Enoch finally put his arm around the girl and kissed her on the cheek. Tina went red and hesitated into giving in to the hug.

The silence in the room was unbearable and he couldn't take it any longer. The boy opened his mouth but only silence came out. Tina continued to stare at the floor until she gave in and rested her head on his shoulder. The blanket that once was tightened around Tina was now around the both of them. Tina finally lays down on his lap and Enoch rubs her head softly, her brown soft hair becoming a mess.

"I hope one day Enoch...I hope one day you can trust me" Tina gulped, her eyes still on the floor. Enoch's eyes widened and he rolled his eyes.

"And what do you mean by that?" He grumbled

"I hope that I can see that light in your eyes that Miss Peregrine always talks about. When you would smile and laugh as if nothing bad could ever happen. Even though you yell and throw things at me when your mad I still- I still love you lemon boy"

Enoch could feel a lump and he stared and the girl on top of him. She finally turned around and smiled with a biscuit in her mouth. Enoch couldn't help but let a small one get to his lips. He shakes his head and looks away

"You're joking, right?" Enoch asked with the same small smile

Tina looked at him with a straight face as she ate the biscuit. She never responded, she just stared and stared. Enoch could feel her eyes and he looked back at the girl, his girl.

Tina finally let go and began to collect her things. Enoch sat flabbergasted at what he had just gone through. He hadn't expected her to get so angry with him, especially over a toilet seat. He watched as she walked toward the door, swaying her hips as she walked. He smiled and followed her out of the room. The door softly closing behind them. The door to Enoch's room opening.

Chapter 16: Exposed

Summary:

gets a bit touchy but no smut lolzies

Chapter Text

Third Person POV:

Enoch closed the door and stared as Tina began admiring the creations that lay around him. Tina's hand was gliding over a heart when Enoch turned around and planted his lips on hers. Tina softened her self and she let herself fall into his arms. To others, Enoch never seemed like a touchy person but in reality, he was. The little kisses and hands around the waist, the soft hands touching yours in sweet little moments.

Tina turned around only to be met by a pair of soft lips on her small ones. A flutter made itself known in Tina's stomach and a smile came upon her face. Enoch lifted his fingers and placed them softly under her chin, lifting her head up. His other hand made its way behind her back, pushing her in closer, Tina willingly letting him do what he wanted.

Tina opened her eyes a few times, taking little peeks at the boy in front of her. His eyes were closed and his dark brown hair was ruffled a bit from the library. She closed her eyes again only to be sat on the bed by Enoch. Their lips parted and their eyes opened, Tina's wider then they usually are. Their warm breath filled the space around them, although the kiss was a shock it was also inviting. The two teens looked at each other with eyes that said little, to them that little meant a lot. Tina took a deep breath and kissed Enoch again, her hand holding his head.

It felt as if Miss Peregrine had stopped time, stopped it just for them. The house went quiet and only their giggles could be heard.

Stopping time during a kiss was to cliche for Tina though. It's been used in almost every book she read. Time didn't stop, it still went on and she knew it. Their kiss didn't stop time but it felt like the world had no eyes in them. That's why it seemed as if the world stopped.

Enoch's hands slowly made their way behind her back again and he pulled her closer.  He never had a lover and he never planned to really have one. There were of course a few girls he fancied but he never bothered to take them out to dinner.

Of course, oxygen was still needed so after a while they finally let go. Breathing hard as they tried to catch their breaths. Due to Tina's immaturity, she began to laugh and Enoch smiled as she fell on the bed. They stayed in silence, a comfortable silence. A knock at the door broke the silence and the couple's head turned to the door.

Miss Peregrine stood with her arms crossed and her shoulder against the door frame. A judgmental look was placed upon her face and a teen smoke emerged from her pipe when she removed it from her mouth. She shook her head and stood up straight again. Tina's face was red but Enoch stayed the same. He'd been caught by Miss Peregrine many times, doing things he wasn't supposed to.

"I would like you two to come to help Emma and I prepare dinner" Miss Peregrine stated as she clasped her hands together. She began to walk off but before being out of sight she returned to the door and stared intently at the two teens.

"And please refrain from doing that in the house ever again. I don't know how far you have..gotten" at this sentence Tina could feel herself vomit in her mouth

"That's disgusting Miss Peregrine" Tina replied, Enoch, shook his head in  agreement

"Very well then," Miss Peregrine said. She nodded and headed back upstairs

The two teens laughed as they played their way up to the dining room.

Chapter 17: On The Shore

Chapter Text

Third-Person pov:

"I think dinner was scrumptious" whispered a girl

"Of course you did" whispered back a boy

The night was dark and not a star could be seen in the sky. A grey fog covered the moon and Tina lay her head on Enoch's shoulder. The world didn't seem to slow down like most couples would have thought at this moment, time was normal but with an odd scent in the air.  Tina looked over at Enoch and smiled. She never thought that she would ever have such a romantic moment. Though she felt that this love might not last. There are three different types of love that you experience in life. And here, she was experiencing the first, young love. Young love was chaotic and scary but she liked it, in fact, she loved the feeling of it. Though Enoch was technically a grouchy old man, and his personality didn't differ, she felt that somewhere he might be young at heart just like she was. She could say that about all the peculiar children. This new home that she had been given was in fact not the torture room that she expected but a small home far away from the troubles of the world.

Tina had never had an interesting life. She spent most of her time on TikTok and reading books that made her question life entirely. Such as Six Of Crows, which really just made her gay. And now here she was experiencing a romantic moment that you could only find in those books. It seemed rare that someone could ever experience this in real life, and here she was. Tina had only experienced a few crushes such as a girl in her 7th-grade biology class, a boy in her kindergarten class, and a random boy she found at Starbucks.

Enoch on the other hand had never had an interest in love. Though he did find a few girls attractive here and there. After his mother died all love was lost for Enoch. His father had never treated him kindly and because of his parent's job, he didn't have many friends. Enoch knew he was fairly attractive and he knew that's what most girls loved him for, his personality was rather boring and it didn't attract many acquaintances. He learned to accept the fact that this was the reason he couldn't fall in love. All the girls were prim and proper and it rather annoyed him how they skipped and smiled from afar. Though when he met Tina, she seemed like a creature from outer space. She was from the year 2020 which is practically the same.

It was a painful journey for Enoch to learn that he had feelings for this creature. But soon after he accepted this fact. Now she was his dearest creature. He smiled at the girl on his shoulder and he turned his head back to the children's home. Miss Peregrines' light was on. They were going to get a lecture once they got back.

Tina's soft voice began to sing a song that she had on her playlist. One that made her feel how she felt in the moment with Enoch. "Honey, I belong, with you, only you, baby
Only you, my girl, only you, babe. Only you, darling, only you, babe. Only you, my girl, only you, babe. Only you, darling, only you." Her voice faded away and Enoch's hand picked up his cup and drank the red fruity liquid inside. He began to hum the tune again.

Until then, the couple sat enjoying some juice while on the edge of a cliff with an endless fall to the sea.

Chapter 18: Outcasts

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

"Valentina, this is literally just a self-insert"

"It's not! The character is completely different from me"

"..."

"What?"

"Um, the Hamilton posters? The six of crows duology and shadow and bone posters? The Draco Malfoy fanart that you printed out on the walls? You can't tell me you didn't just self-insert yourself so you could feel happy to be with your comfort characters. That's just kind of... weird."

"It's not! As I said, it's 100% not a self-insert"

"So then what about her name being Tina? That's literally what your mom has been calling you since you were like one"

"I just couldn't think of a name"

"mhmm"

After her friend left, Valentina continued to look back at her computer screen. She had been writing a story about one of her favorite characters from a book series she adored. The girl had recently gone to the book store and discovered the series. She had been looking for a new obsession (although she already had many). While wandering the aisles she discovered the series and decided to buy all the books, luckily for her the series had been complete. She liked that the series had been complete but it still hurt a bit because that meant she would not get much content like other fans might have.

On the internet, there were many ways to get more content so Valentina decided to look on there instead, she discovered many new stories made by fans and art from the books and movie. She adored it and would sometimes be saddened at the realization that the world did actually exist. It saddened her to remember that the character were just an author's imagination written on paper and that what she on screen were just actors playing a part. She was happy that the characters could be brought to life but it still hurt. It hurt that she was sitting in her bed while such an exciting world was just sitting on her shelf

Valentina closed her computer and put it to charge so it could be full the next time she wanted to use it. It was almost time for her dinner so she decided to get a bit of homework done beforehand. Her father was working and her mother barely cam down from her room once she came  back home so Valentina usually prepared her own dinner and ate it in her room. After dinner, her cats Alice and Nyx would join her for the night and sleep in their beds that sat at the foot of Valentina's bed.

Her story was finally finished so she could go to sleep without any ideas for a new chapter

Notes:

I know this is kinda a boring and cliché chapter but I lost my notes that I had for the ending of this story. If you'd like a better ending, I could totally come up with one and keep this one for those who prefer it lol. Also, because I also got the feels, this story is not a self insert of myself 💀 I did use some of my previous/current obsessions for Tina and my stutter to relate to the character but I wrote this because I was interested in this kind of story. So like yea BSHSHS
