Chapter Text
"Morning, Love."
Huntsman hummed, still half asleep. He nuzzled farther into his blue boyfriend's chest. Sandy chuckled and rubbed his back.
"C'mon, you gotta get up. The gang'll be here soon and they can't see you."
Huntsman begrudgingly pushed himself up.
"You know we wouldn't have to worry about them finding out if you let me kidnap you…"
"I know, but the team needs me."
They get out of bed and start to get dressed. Sandy, not having much to put on, starts some tea. Light morning conversations and tea were something they were used to now. Sneaking the spider out before MK's car pulled up was, unfortunately, also common. Pulling up his boots and waving goodbye, Huntsman jumps onto the dock to start his way back to the sewers.

"Where've you been"? Syntax sneered.
"Out."
"Of course. You were probably fucking that river demon again. Would explain the limp."
"Shut it." He says, sharply turning to the other.
"Really you're lucky I don't tell our queen about your little rendezvous. I'm sure she'd be pleased to know you're laying with the enemy. She might actually have that one killed. You said yourself he doesn't fight bac-"
He was cut off as Huntsman lunged at him. They tumbled to the ground and Huntsman rolled on top of him, pointing a finger in his face.
"You won't tell her shit . You hear me? If you do it's your funeral."
"Get off. Your breath smells."
He slowly removed himself from the other, never leaving eye contact. They brushed themselves off and continued down the hall. The queen wanted to talk to all her helpers.
'Wait where's my compass?'

"SANDY! WE'RE HEEERE!"
Sandy looked over the side of his boat and waved.
"Hey, gang. I just finished a fresh brew of chamomile! You want some?"
As they got on the boat everyone, aside from Pigsy, was all smiles as per usual. Apparently, MK had been attacked last night and gotten some good punches into some 'spider bastard', as Pigsy called them. Sandy cringed a bit at the name but continued to pour tea and listen to their stories. He sat on a bean bag next to the couch and closed his eyes. He wondered what Huntsman was doing. He wondered how he was feeling. He seemed more tired than usual when he left. Sandy was so lost in thought that he almost didn't notice Mei pick up something near the edge of the table.
"Hey Sandy, this yours?"
He looks over to see Mei holding a compass. It looked different from his. It was darker and had lots of nice greys and purples. Sandy's eyes widened. He quickly got up and took the compass from her.
"Y-yeah. This is mine. I don't know why it's out here though. I'll go put it back."
Sandy rushed out of the room with his friends looking confused.
"Well, he was certainly in a rush."
He rushed to his bedroom and put the compass safely in a drawer on the bedside table. He took a breath and looked down. One of his cats, Ryan, mewed at him. He sighed and sat on his bed. Ryan rubbed his head against Sandy's leg and purred. Sandy chuckled and picked him up.
"Hey, Rye. Did you come to calm down daddy?"
All he got in response was another mew.
"I wonder how they would react if they knew I was dating… they certainly wouldn't like him."
Ryan just purred again and layed in Sandy's lap. Realizing he was stuck here until the cat got up (as is the rule of the cat owner) he pet him. He would explain his sudden exit to his friends later. Now it was time for ear scratches.
Sandy didn’t notice Ryan's ears perk up. He didn’t hear the small gasp from behind the door.

“About time you got here.”
Spider Queen stood near that weird girl she was always talking with.
“We apologize, my queen. We had a small tussle on the way.”
“I don’t care about your excuses.” she said, “But we have exciting news~ Tell em’ girlie!”
The girl made a grimace of sorts at the nickname but continued as normal.
“We have nearly all the pieces for the weapon. If we can find the last few artifacts then we can take over the city in a matter of days.”
Syntax took his turn to speak. “That is amazing, my queen. But what of the Monkie Kids team”?
He looked over at the Huntsman, smirking.
“Well, if all goes well they’ll be dead when I soon,” she responded.
Huntsman tensed. He didn’t need to look at Syntax to tell he was smirking at him. He bared his teeth just barely so that only Syntax could see.
“Thank you, my queen,” he asked, “Is that all?”
“I suppose,” she said. “Get out of here. I’ll call for you when you’re needed.”
Huntsman took his leave, marching out. He understood the danger of what he was going to do, but if anything he was going to protect his boyfriend.
