Work Text:

Jeno watched the sun fade into the horizon on a peaceful Saturday evening and blinked sheepishly after a tiny nap he had just taken. While the sunset was as calming as a cool drink after a hot day, it couldn't distract him from his day at work. Not his best days for sure.

He tried his best to stop himself from taking another nap, now thinking about what he should be having for dinner. On days like these when he came home early, he loved to sit by his window, watching the sunset. This was probably the best part — just watching the sunset alone while being preoccupied with his thoughts, calling it a day and also imagining a peaceful night where he and his lover would chill around and do nothing. He was glad that he moved in with his boyfriend.

He waited for another few minutes, with tired eyes longing for his lover to come home to wrap him into a warm hug.

And then he heard — a faint knock on the door, disturbing the silence like crickets at night.

A smile grew on his face involuntarily and he dragged his legs towards the door and pressed his head against it.

“Password,” he tiredly muttered with closed eyes but with a wide smile.

“I am Groot,” he heard from the other side. The familiar voice made him feel at home again. Happy again and glad that he finally found his home after a long bad day. “Oh wait, I know what's the password!” the voice said.

Jeno hummed in response. “And that is?”

“Pink hair Jeno looks sexy.”

Jeno broke into a breathy laugh. “You got 3 more chances, Mister.”

“Oh, that's terrible,” he replied, sarcastically. “Let's see then…” he added. “Hmm… Jeno is so in love with Jaemin that he can't function without him.”

“In your dreams,” Jeno retorted with another laugh. “If you don't say it correctly, then I'm going to assume you're someone pretending to be my boyfriend and you'll be locked out forever.”

“You're taking this very seriously, baby.”

Jeno's cheeks flushed. “You started this whole password thing. Now say it!”

“Jeno is the love of my life.”

Jeno let out a loud fake sigh. “Alright. Goodbye, forever wannabe Jaemin.”

“No, wait. I still got another chance. Let me prove it to you, my love,” Jaemin dramatically said.

“Hmm…” Jeno pretended to think for a second before saying, “Fine. Last one.”

“So… the password…”

“Hmm?”

“Why should I tell you the password?”

“There you go,” Jeno opened the door and looked at Jaemin who stood at the door with his one hand placed beside the door frame looking down trying not to laugh.

“Whose idea was this again?”

“Yours!” Jeno laughed.

“Ah… mine,” Jaemin mumbled, embarrassed. “Let's change the password. This is lame,” he said as he walked into the bedroom and then to the bathroom, taking his towel.

“To what?” Jeno asked, curiously, sitting on the bed.

“Guess,” Jaemin winked, closing the door.

While Jeno tried to think about what Jaemin would want as a password, the sounds of running water filled the room.

“Hmm…” Jeno began. “That song?” he screamed.

The water stopped running immediately and Jaemin yelled back, “What?”

“That song, Jaem,” Jeno repeated, with a teasing smile on his face.

And after a few minutes of silence, Jaemin screamed, “What song?” and then splashed the water onto himself.

“Jaemin… that one. Your favourite,” Jeno teased, hearing Jaemin stop to move on to shampoo and soap.

“Oh no, oh no no no,” he yelled again.

“Niga neomu joha. ottoke ottoke~” Jeno sang, ignoring Jaemin's cries.

“That's not funny, Jen.”

“Then what is it?” he whined.

“You know that. It's very personal. A feeling of home and intimate thing to both of us,” he explained.

“Huh?”

“Yeah,” Jaemin replied, now going back to splashing water onto him.

“I love you?”

“Nope.”

“Our anniversary?”

“Nah.”

“First kiss?”

Minutes of silence later Jaemin opened the door, hair dripping wet and a white robe hanging onto his body.

“Close,” he said, smiling while he took the towel to wipe his hands, face and legs dry.

“Huh?” Jeno was now utterly confused. “I don't remember the date though…” he slowly said, with wide doe eyes that stared at Jaemin as though they were telling him that he was sorry for not remembering.

Jaemin laughed, pulling his face towards him, leaving a peck on his lips. “No silly. Not the date of our first kiss.”

“Then what?”

“Guess guess guess,” he said and walked out of the room.

Jeno pouted and fell onto the bed with a groan. Jaemin walked into the room again wearing a loose white shirt and shorts. Jeno signalled him to sit on the bed, took the towel and threw that on him to wipe his hair dry.

“Did you get it?” Jaemin asked, from under the towel, his muffled cute voice, making Jeno smile. Minutes after, he took the towel and threw it in the laundry basket that sat beside the bathroom and adjusted his bangs.

“See, I told you this shampoo smells good.”

Jaemin nodded and smiled, pulling Jeno a little closer, burying his head in his neck and began talking about the day, ranting about things he disliked forgetting about the conversation they were just having. Jeno patiently listened to him, spoke when he needed to, comforted him when he was frustrated and kissed his forehead to make him feel better and loved.

Jeno found himself doing the same after Jaemin was done, talking about the things he had been thinking about telling him since the beginning of the week. He was so glad that weekends existed.

“God, I missed you so much…” Jaemin said and fell onto the bed.

“Me too,” Jeno replied and lay on top of him. “Hey, I give up. What's the password?”

Jaemin snorted. “It'll blow your mind, Jeno. I thought about it all day and when this popped up, I laughed for minutes.”

“Oh no… This is gonna be wild,” Jeno mumbled, turning to the other side while Jaemin hugged him from behind.

“The best moment is the moment I step inside the house.”

Jeno turned to look at Jaemin who had a wide smile on his lips and beautiful eyes which looked at him with anticipation. “Wow, that's… super sweet, Jaemin. I like-”

“Because then I can be inside you-”

“Uh Uh. Nope. I take my words back,” Jeno said, cutting Jaemin off, and placing his hand on his lips.

“What do you mean?” Jaemin retorted after Jeno pulled his hand away. “It's the best one.”

“Jaemin, I'm not saying ‘The best moment is the moment I step inside the house because then I can be inside you’ first of all, it's too big. Second of all, it's nasty-”

“Nasty?! We do that all the time. And it fits both of us,” he winked.

“Third of all, it's embarrassing. And also, how does this even fit the description you said like… minutes ago?” Jeno complained.

“It does?”

Jeno looked at him with dead eyes waiting for the latter to explain.

“It's very personal. A feeling of home and intimate thing to both of us.”

“I got it, okay. Anyway, I don't like this. We're not doing this. If we're doing this, then you should be eating a strawberry every time I'm saying this password.”

“Fine,” Jaemin said, angrily and pulled himself away from Jeno, turning to the other side. “We're not doing it.”

Jeno laughed and moved to back hug him. “Aren't you hungry? I'm hungry.”

“Cook for yourself.”

“Common, babe,” Jeno said, pulling him out of the bed to which Jaemin couldn't help but follow Jeno.

“When did this password thing start again?” Jeno asked, after dinner while they washed the dishes.

Or — while Jeno washed the dishes and Jaemin just hugged him from behind giving him moral support because the latter lost rock paper scissors.

Jaemin kept quiet and Jeno placed the last plate on the stand and turned back to look at Jaemin. When their eyes met, they laughed together, as though they remembered the incident at the same time.

“What did you say exactly?” Jeno asked, looking at Jaemin's embarrassed face.

“Lee Jeno, you look so cool,” Jaemin replied, hiding his face in his hands.

“Ay, no. Tell me exactly!”

Jaemin sighed with a smile. “I don't remember when exactly but you said you were coming back at 6 that day. And I thought we could watch a movie together so I ordered a pizza, which I completely forgot about. And at around 6 someone knocked and I was so sure it was gonna be you. And when I opened it, I didn't even take a look at who it was and I was like, “Can you believe I love your ass more than I love you?” and then I looked at the guy, who had a pizza box on his hand and shock on his face. Trust me, I was so embarrassed.”

Jeno threw himself on Jaemin, hugging him while laughing loudly at the same time admiring how cute Jaemin was. “You're so…” he laughed again, kissing his cheek. “Ah, I love you. Even if you are embarrassing.”

Jaemin sniffed. “Thanks,” he said. “I love you too.”

“Also,” Jeno whispered against his ear, composing himself after laughing. “Give me a kiss and I'll give you something better to eat,” he said.

Jaemin frowned, pulling himself from the hug to look at Jeno's flushed face.

“Do you like that as a password?” he added.

“Ah,” Jaemin laughed. “Something better to eat, huh?”

“Pizza, dumbass. Pizza,” Jeno flicked his forehead softly.

Jaemin raised his eyebrow making Jeno blush again. “Really? Do you think I'm gonna buy that lie?”

Jeno shrugged, walking away. “I'm pure. I don't make such jokes.”

“Such jokes? I never said anything about such jokes,” Jaemin teased. Jeno bit his lip and didn't look at Jaemin. “Also, you're what? Pure? Look me in the eye and say that.”

“No, I won't.”

“Then admit it.”

“No–”

Jaemin walked up to him and kissed him on his cheek. “I gave you a kiss.”

“Order a pizza. We're watching a movie,” Jeno smiled.

Jaemin locked him in his arms and whined. “Oh, common, admit that you made an adult joke for once!”

“I won't. Cry about it,” he replied, pulling himself away. “Pizza. Now.”

Jaemin laughed and nodded. He would never get enough of this. Work will always suck but at the end of the day, moments like these will always make him feel better.
