Work Text:
Dream groans as he opens his eye, immediately blinded by the sun. The air he breathed was clean and fresh. He gets up quickly. regretting it as he became dizzy. "Finally awake." Someone mumbles. Dream silently hisses, rubbing his forehead. "What the... hell?" Once he regained his vision, he looks around, only to see the Warden. "Good morning, prisoner." Sam greeted. "Hello, Warden." Dream shivers, the Warden's gaze scaring him.
"Where are we?" The blonde-haired man asked. "We're outside. Of the prison." Sam simply said. "And... why?" Sam opens his inventory, pulling out a backpack and tossing it to the prisoner. "You've been exiled." Dream stared at the backpack, processing the words. "Exiled... Hm." "Majority of the city wanted you exiled, after seeing the concerning conditions of the prison cell." Dream sighs. "Sometimes people of the SMP are good."
The Warden crossed his arms, "I kinda expected you to lash out..." He mumbled. Dream laughs, "This was bound to happen anyway. I'll be taking my leave now." Sam was... somewhat dumbfounded. He shakes his head, turning in the direction back to the city. "Oh yeah, Sam. One last thing." Sam stood still, "Hm?" "If they decide to have me back in, tell them I refuse to come back. That's my last wish to you as a friend." The creeper hums, continuing on the path back.
Once Dream knew that Sam was gone, he yells with joy and relief. "Finally! Out of that hellhole!" He ran and ran with the sound of tools clinging around in his backpack. The man settles down, catching his breath. He sits on a rock and opens his backpack.
"Let's see..." An iron axe, pickaxe, shovel, and a... stone sword. A note was also at the bottom along with two packs of bread. Eating the warm and fresh bread (not really, it was lukewarm and somewhat hard. after all, he's been eating raw potatoes for his entire prison term), he reads the note,
Dear Dream,
I hope you're doing well. Sad that you're being exiled... But hey! You're out of that place! I put some tools and some bread. Sorry if the bread isn't that fresh. There are some raspberries in it though! And also, they wouldn't let me give you an iron sword. Not sure why. Maybe because, y'know, they're still scared of you. Anyways, they're waiting for me to finish up. Please stay safe!
Best of luck, BadBoyHalo
P.S. If you ever get the chance, you can secretly visit me! The egg is always open for new recruits... It helped me make the bread!
Dream softly smiles. At least he knows that one person cares, with a suspicion that Bad was trying to get Dream into his cult. One person cared and that was all that mattered for a second. He gets up, straight to getting materials and resources for his new fresh start. He'll find new and better friends, friends that can agree, friends that aren't children. He'll make a new personality. A new face.
He'll throw away this damn smiley mask.
Dream had started to build his new house, it was going pretty well without the help of his admin clone. He can do anything without help. He wasn't lonely at all--- No, he was pretty lonely. He honestly missed his best friends. Those two were with him ever since the start of this SMP. He found that land and cared for it. And the mask he was given. Sapnap had given it to him as a gift for his birthday. Speaking over birthdays, when was the last time he celebrated his birthday? It has been years of arguments, wars, broken friendships, and betrayal. When was the last time he took a break from stress? Either way, this was his chance to get the break he needed.
Back to Dream building his house, he had been connecting with nature. Especially animals. (Oh dear DreamXD, Mikhail is back to Disney Princess Dream...) There is this one fox that watches him from afar, it seems that it likes Dream for no particular reason. Maybe it's because he's a human. Dream noticed this put his house building to a stop. He cautiously gets down from the high wall, opening his inventory to grab some sweet berries. "Hey, buddy. You're pretty cute, you know?" The man cooed, crouching as he gets closer to the fox. It also does the same, but it looked like it was going to pounce. The fox lets out a low but soft growl. Not wanting to wait, it scurried over to Dream.
"Aw," awed Dream. The man offers the berries in his hand, the fox gladly eating them up. Dream moves his hand to pet the fox, it lets him. "You know, I'll call you Bean. You look kinda smaller than all the other foxes I've seen. Let see, are ya' a vixen?" Dream asks. Bean bites one of the man's fingers, making him hiss. "Ow- I guess you're a reynald, haha." Bean barks, enjoying the love and attention it was receiving.
For the rest of the day, they hang out together and bonded.
Dream isn't too lonely anymore.
Quackity is a simple man.
Kiss his fiances (bro, when are you gonna finally marry them?) goodbye when he goes to work, talks to people, builds more inappropriate buildings, runs his casino, and most importantly --- Torture the person he hates most in the entire SMP.
(1000 word mark lol)
Never mind, he isn't that much of a simple man. He can't torture the person he hated anymore because that person was exiled. Dream didn't deserve to be exiled, as Quackity thought. Dream was a terrible man and he deserved to rot in prison.
But to keep his face, he didn't go against the people's decision.
It's been a whole month, Quackity groaned in boredom. He was done with his monthly work and was currently sitting on the grass, staring at the ever so busy city. Ever since Dream was exiled, it felt like a heavyweight was finally lifted off of everyone. Dream couldn't hurt anyone anymore. There were new but well-trained guards surveying the city every hour.
They had become prepared for anything that would come towards them. But Quackity didn't believe so. Dream could be planning something evil, he could dictate and manipulate the SMP again.
The duck didn't want that to happen.
He jumps up, handling his axe and a few more things. Maybe it's about time he'd pay a visit to his dear old friend.
----------
Dream picked and replanted his flourishing garden farm. He had been working on it ever since he finished building his house. (Homeless Dream is no more,,,) Bean had warmed up to Dream, accompanying the man everywhere. He'd climb up Dream's back or chest and choose to lay on the blonde's hair or shoulders.
Bean was also an enemy alarm, having a good sense of smell was one of Bean's best skills. When Dream would start fighting the mobs, Bean would bark from the sidelines and cheer him on. Dream absolutely loved Bean and was grateful for the little fox. Especially right now. Bean growled as he sniffed the air, Dream immediately slipping his sword out. "Come out! Whoever you are!" yelled Dream.
A chuckle makes Bean jump, he scurried into Dreams hoodie. "Didn't know you still had it in you, Big D!!" Dream froze, familiarized with the voice. "Quackity..." He whispered. "This is a pretty nice house, y'know?" Quackity teased. "Why are you here?" The blonde said, wanting Quackity to get to the point.
"I'm just here to visit my friend! Is it wrong not to?" Quackity taunted, swinging his axe around. Dream hummed, trying to finish up his crops. "You should... you should leave. You have no business in meeting me. Didn't you want me to go away?" He didn't get a response but a "hmph." "Oh well, guess you're right. But I'll be back."
"See ya next time, Dreamie~"
------------
Dream was on edge. 'See ya next time, Dreamie~' repeated multiple times in his head. It's fucking terrifying -- knowing that your own torturer was going to keep on visiting you when you're obviously trying to live your life peacefully.
What was Quackity's problem? Dream shook his head, going back to caring for his flowers. The sun would set soon but Bean was currently outside -- playing with other foxes who Bean claimed as his family. (Bean had a green collar so that Dream could differentiate him from the other foxes.) The colors of red and white and the sound of happy barking filled up the beautiful field. The man smiled and looked back down, finishing up his work.
But then it became all too quiet.
He looked back up. The foxes were scurried around, terrified of the figure that stood in the middle of the field. They held a sword, the other holding... "BEAN!!" Dream screamed. He drops his watering can and grabs his sword, jumping over the fence then sprinting as fast as he could.
"BEAN!!" He screams once more, now taking in the person's face. The golden wings, black hair, the blue beanie, a dress shirt, and overalls... "Please, please let him go, Quackity." Dream gasped and panted.
Quackity raised his sword and put it against Bean's lower body. "Mmm... Give me a reason why I should?" Dream looked at him, what he said was unbelievable. He gets down on his knees and lowered his head. He begged, "I... you... He didn't do anything to you! Just please don't kill him, it's okay if you kill me instead- Please, just leave him be---"
A pain-filled yelp makes Dream look up quickly, the sight of a sword plunging into his only companion and best friend. "Bean. BEAN! No, no- NO!" The kneeling man gets up, only to be kicked back down. Dream cried in pain, a foot digging into his face.
Quackity laughed maniacally, pulling the sword in one quick swing. Blood spilled on Dream's face. Quackity drops Bean's body.
The ravenette pokes at Dream's body, getting no response.
He's dead.
He's dead...
Bean is dead?-
"Look at that face, so damn amazing!" The duck laughs and laughs until Dream's ears ring them out. He reaches out for Bean, blood staining his pale skin. "Bean..." He whispered. He focuses his eyes on his best friend, trying to block out Quackity's bicker and laughter. "Are you okay? Don't you... don't you wanna eat more sweet berries?"
"We can... we can go live somewhere else..."
"Maybe we could go meet Technoblade."
"He's like a brother to me... I think you'll really like him."
"Please wake up."
"Just make a noise."
"Say something."
"Wake up..."
"I'm awake, Dream!"
Dream's eyes stay widened like they were staying like that for the rest of his life.
It looks like Quackity had left.
"Dream, get up! I have an idea." Dream gets up. "Pick me up, please?" Dream picks the fox up. "Go get your bag."
He walked back to the house, ignoring the smell of burnt wood. He finds his bag in the kitchen.
"Ooo! You should finish that raspberry bread!!"
Bean suggested.
Anything for Bean.
Dream finishes the bread.
"Are you feeling better now?"
Despite his scared eyes, he smiles and nods. "Good! Well... I feel like we should go to Mr. Bad's place." Bean said. "How do you know... Bad?" asked Dream. "Bad wants me to protect and help you! So we should go meet him now!" Dream hummed.
He began his walk back to the SMP.
Leaving a trail of Bean's blood on the grass.
Bad squinted, seeing a red hooded man with a bag hanging around his shoulders in the distance from their base. It looks like he was completely taken over, his clothes indicating this. In fact, his shoes and hands were covered in blood.
"Looks like we've got him, Ant!" Bad exclaimed.
