Chapter 1: Why Bloodborne?
Chapter Text
“I don’t understand what I’m supposed to be doing?” Daisuke grumbles, fiddling with the buttons on the PS4 controller. He’s squinting at the TV screen and biting his lip in concentration. Haru hums from his place by the kitchen sink before approaching his boyfriend.
“You’ve never played video games before? Like ever?” Haru takes the controller from Daisuke’s tense hands and takes control of the character.
“No I haven’t. It wasn’t a priority.” Daisuke looks between Haru’s finger movements and the TV. “You make it look easy. Give it here.” He doesn’t try to grab the controller but he puts his hand out waiting. Haru looks away from the screen and at Daisuke’s waiting hand.
“Are you sure? Just because you hate not knowing something, doesn’t mean you’ll automatically know it.” Haru hands him the controller and watches Daisuke fiddle around with the character again.
“Maybe I chose a difficult game for your first time.” He says and laughs when Daisuke’s character gets hit for all his health. The loading screen comes on and Daisuke huffs before tossing the controller onto Haru’s lap.
“Be careful with my baby, Kambe.” Haru hisses and rubs the controller as if to ease its pain. The level loads back up and Haru navigates the area with ease before coming up to a lantern. “I’ll save and find an easier game for you, okay? Maybe Bloodborne was a bad first choice.”
“I’m no longer interested.” Daisuke says and folds his arms. He leans back against the wall with a pout and refuses to look in Haru’s direction. Haru chuckles at Daisuke’s behaviour and after coming off the game, he slides over to him.
Daisuke acknowledges Haru’s approach with a slight head tilt, but otherwise stays facing away from him. “Come on, don’t be like that. It’s just a game, don’t let it upset you.” He reaches out and strokes Daisuke’s arm. The millionaire doesn’t shake him off so he takes that as a good sign to continue. “You don’t have to be good at everything babe.” Daisuke looks over annoyed at Haru’s last comment and then shakes him off.
“Being good at a ridiculous game is the least of my problems.” Haru nods in understanding and puts his hands on Daisuke’s thighs. He turns him so that he’s now facing him completely before taking both his hands in his.
“Then why are you over here sulking?”
“I’m not sulking. Your eyes must be broken.”
“I’m pretty sure they’re fine.”
“I don’t think so.” Daisuke mutters and tries to move away from his boyfriend. Haru laughs and pulls Daisuke into him and pets his silky hair. To his surprise, Daisuke doesn’t move away and allows the contact. “Let’s forget about the game, okay? Now, what should I make us for dinner?” Daisuke shifts to look up at Haru while still in his arms and he’s still pouting when he says, “Make whatever you want. I’ll eat anything you make.”
Since Haru and Daisuke started dating, Daisuke made visits to Haru’s apartment a regular thing. Daisuke had offered to buy the entire building and have it remodelled to allow Haru ownership of the entire thing but Haru had vehemently refused. He had argued that the other tenants would have to find a new place to live and that would be incredibly unfair to them. Daisuke hadn’t brought the matter up again after that.
“Then I know exactly what to make tonight; something simple but tasty.” Haru says and leans down to peck Daisuke’s lips. The millionaire chases after him when he tries to move away and Haru indulges him in a proper kiss.
After they’re finished eating, Haru goes back to the console and takes up his controller. “Ready to get back into it?” He asks and wiggles the controller in his hand. Daisuke, who had been wiping his hands after washing the dishes, shoots him a withering glare before walking off into Haru’s bedroom. He closes the bedroom door with a slam causing Haru to flinch. “Guess that’s a no.” He sighs and shuts off the console before approaching his bedroom to cheer up his sulking boyfriend.

Chapter Text
“What number is that?” Daisuke stops on his way back to Haru’s couch. The cup of coffee raised to his lips now paused. Haru’s reading a detective novel, one he’s read numerous times now. He doesn’t look up at Daisuke, only keeps reading but the millionaire can tell he’s waiting for a reply.
“I don’t follow.” Daisuke says as he joins his boyfriend on the couch. Daisuke had convinced Haru to move out of his old apartment and get a bigger one. Daisuke spending the weekends had become a norm and Haru’s old apartment was a little on the small side for them both.
“This is what? Your forth cup already?” Haru closes the novel now and stares at Daisuke with an annoyed expression.
“Third, but what’s your point?”
“Don’t you think that’s a little…excessive?” Haru places his closed book on the coffee table and turns to face Daisuke on the couch. He tucks his legs under each other and folds his arms. Daisuke honestly feels like a child getting scolded by their mother.
“No I don’t. I can see you think so. I didn’t know you had a problem with me drinking coffee.”
Haru shakes his head and shifts closer to his boyfriend. “I don’t have a problem with you drinking coffee.”
“Then what’s this unnecessary dialogue about then?” Daisuke would much rather get back to what he was doing before. Also, his coffee is getting cold.
“I have a problem with the amount of coffee you drink.” Haru says, frustration evident in his tone. He doesn’t have a problem with Daisuke drinking coffee at all, he just thinks he drinks it too much in a short period of time.
“This is normal for me though.” Daisuke says. He raises the cup to his mouth and takes a gulp. At the corner of his eye, he catches Haru’s stare and holds back a laugh at the look his boyfriend is sending him.
“Normal you say? It’s not even 12pm yet, and it’s your forth cup.”
“Third. And you can verify with Suzue, this is normal for me.”
“Maybe I should have a chat with her. You shouldn’t be allowed to drink so much of that stuff. It can’t be healthy.”
“Haru, it’s not a big deal. I drink coffee because I like the way it tastes.”
“A little too much.” Haru quips and Daisuke shoots him a look of annoyance.
“If it really bothers you, I can cut down the amount I consume when I’m here.”
“That’s not fair. You’re only here on the weekends.”
“I’m still making a compromise. Besides, we’re usually busy with work on weekdays, so I don’t often have time to drink it.”
“Okay fine,” Haru sighs. “You have a point. I agree to you lessening the amount you consume while you’re over here.”
“I can live with that.” Daisuke agrees easily. “I don’t want you getting upset over it every time I come over.”
The conversation drops then and Haru reaches over to retrieve his book again. Daisuke does the same with his laptop and a comfortable silence settles over them. Daisuke is busy clicking away at his laptop when he feels the need to ask.
“Do you dislike coffee? Is that why you want me to ease up on it?”
Haru looks up from his book with raised eyebrows. He tucks a finger in as a page holder before addressing the question.
“I’ve tasted it once, it’s not for me. Thing is, I just think you drink it too much. When you do, you barely eat.”
Daisuke hums in thought before looking over at his boyfriend. “I never really pay attention to my eating habits. Suzue always makes sure I eat on time.” He types in something very quickly on his laptop before shutting it off. “Coffee is amazing. I take it you’re a tea person?”
“Indeed I am. Earl Grey is one of my favourites.”
“I see.” Daisuke says thoughtfully. He finishes the rest of his coffee; having gone lukewarm after their conversation. “Maybe you should give coffee another try?”
“I don’t think so. I’ll stick with tea.” Haru says with a laugh and turns back to his book. He doesn’t notice Daisuke inching closer until he pulls the book away and tosses it onto the table. Haru is about to protest that he’s lost his spot when Daisuke leans in and kisses him. The kiss is short but the millionaire had swiftly stuck his tongue inside Haru’s mouth and swirled it around.
Daisuke pulls away, satisfied at the flustered look on Haru’s face and asks. “How was that?”
“Bitter. But not bad.” Haru replies, his tongue peeking out to swipe at his lips. Daisuke follows the movement, entrance for a moment before clearing his throat.
“Changed your mind then?”
“I don’t know.” Haru says and leans forward to crowd Daisuke against the armrest. “Maybe I need another taste.”
Daisuke smirks and wraps his arms around Haru’s neck before pulling his closer. “Gladly.” He whispers against his boyfriend’s lips before kissing him again.
Notes:
Daisuke's love for coffee is inspired my me, I'm obsessed with brewed coffee and often enough my friend tells me I drink it too much. I also halfway through remembered that Daisuke's VA loves drinking coffee as well.
P.S. If anyone has prompts, please send them my way. I'd love some since my brain can't think of any.
