She turns back around and picks up Abby’s hands to try and rub warmth back into them. She very pointedly does not acknowledge the pang in her chest, and how much it feels like when she found her, starved and tied to a post. Then, Joel’s lessons on survival ring in her brain.
Warm the body first. Losing a finger or two ain’t nothing compared to dying. Okay? Dry heat until they are no longer in danger, and then move ‘em to a warm bath if ya have one on hand.
Abby isn’t going to get warm enough like this. Lying stiff on the ground, her eyes close as she loses consciousness again. Ellie presses her fingers to her pulse. It’s too slow. She’s still too cold.
There was, another bit of advice that Joel gave.
Now Ellie, sometimes you’re not gonna have enough blankets to get ‘em warm. Or maybe they don’t have much time. If that’s the case, body heat works well.
Ellie closes her eyes and swallows.
If she was going to go to all of this trouble to save Abby in the first place, she can’t just stop at the finish line.

That's when he hears her ragged breathing, and he sees her, clothes torn and skin bloody, lying on his bedroom floor.
All pretense dropped, he runs to her, kneeling next to her prone form. Her hair is falling out of her usual three buns, it’s dirty, and a little matted. He doesn't even attempt to stop himself from pushing it out of her face.
"Where are you?" he whispers.
Her head lolls a bit as her eyes open. She smiles up at him.
"I knew you'd come." Her face goes sad again. "But you're not real." Tears come now. She's delirious. "I didn't want to die alone."

wolf season and pocket knife are two groups that are very quickly coming up on the indie rock scene. so, of course it makes the most sense for their labels to send them on tour together... especially after they catch wind of potential history that went down between the two lead vocalists.

He smiles at her, and she smiles back, biting back the question that's been on the tip of her tongue for months:
Yes, but who are you, really?It had taken a lot of sweat, some tears, and a little more blood than she'd expected, but Osha Aniseya has survived the agonizing process of reinvention. She'd set ablaze the carefully planned, meticulously organized life that had been plotted out for her and built something new from the ashes: a new apartment, new major, and a new boyfriend.
For a few weeks, in that magical warm haze of late summer, everything is perfect. He’s not supposed to be here. He doesn’t work for them anymore.
Qimir just smiles at her, warm and easy, his hand still on her back as if they were old friends, as if they were lovers.
“I need you to listen to me very carefully,” he says, so close his lips brush against her ear. “Stay calm, and act natural, for as long as you can. Do exactly what I tell you, when I tell you to do it, and everything will be okay.” He pulls back, still smiling, and adds, “You look beautiful, by the way.”
She’s so disoriented by his words that it takes her a few seconds to notice the gun in his hand.
