“I just–” He pressed his lips in a thin line, thinking about his word choices, “I needed to let you know. I wasn’t sure if I’d ever get the chance to.”
Theo will pretend not to know what he means. When given the choice, Theo will always run. It’s who he is. He will take the out if given the chance. They all know.
He nods, trying to force a smile. Nolan gives a real smile in return. He says ‘thank you’ one final time before getting out of the truck and running inside. Nolan’s always been a runner too.
