Accents of rust and ochre sit pretty in a sea of textural ivory and creams, punctuated by hits of black to provide the visual palette cleanser between sumptuous mouthfuls of regional artworks. Soaring ceilings, white walls & quiet limestone flooring provide the perfect canvas to showcase the colorful textural art.
Statement furniture channeling 70s vibes is used with restraint to ensure the outcome of each room is a union of complements over competition. The dining table was something of a feat of engineering with its notoriously fragile material - white wood marble. The tabletop slab of marble had to be replaced twice during the making of it, shattering once in workshop and the second time during installation. The end result, however, by fabricator Cherwell Interiors, is a testament to the tenacity of fine craftsmanship.
Sometimes quirky solutions to design problems become the design feature. For example, no one would guess that the fastener for the leather straps that hold the cushions on the bed headboard are actually brass cufflinks (by Buster + Punch). The Clients’ request for adjustable shelving in the majlis lead to the design of the TV unit; using brass rods threaded with custom fittings that allow the shelves to be repositioned. One of our core studio values is 'bespoke sustainability' and wherever possible to support local; with the exception of a few decorative pieces, 80% of the project was custom designed with construction and fabrication by UAE contractors, local workshops and craftsmen. The remaining 20% was sourced through local suppliers. Indoor plants were carefully chosen to improve air quality and provide a fantasy of nature.
In a world sometimes marred by uncertainty, a sanctuary of peace, joy and balance was achieved for our Client. Highly functional design features such as smart custom storage were combined with objects of meaning and character to reflect the Clients personal aesthetic.
