I fly internationally several times a year on Alaska. I have uploaded my passport to Airside and it works great when flying Alaska internationally.

Recently I was having trouble uploading my new passport to the Airside app. I emailed customer support and they promptly got back to me to try and resolve the issue. It turned out to be with an update that was made to the app. As soon as the issue was resolved they emailed me back that it was resolved and to try it. Sure enough it worked the first time. Great customer service.

I repeatedly entered my vaccination info. Every time, it changed the dates that I'd entered to one day before the date I entered. I repeatedly erased them and re-entered the correct dates. Sure, I could and did enter one day ahead, but when i told the devs, they just said to enter one day ahead instead of fixing this inexcusable glitch. There's a button for entering boosters. But, of course, it's grayed out and doesn't work, forcing you to back out several screens. The vaccination card you already photographed? You have to take another picture of it every time you document a booster. Does the develop team bother to test? Obviously not. Scanning for the chip in the passport is a disaster too. Count on 5-10 minutes. Not that you could just enter your details manually according to their supposed app update. No, that would be way too easy. I didn't see where to enter passport info manually. I wasted enough time with the vaccine nonsense and finally getting the passport chip to scan. If they can't be bothered to make an interface that doesn't require end users to drill down to find where to manually enter passport info, I’m not going to waste more time trying to find it. After 5 selfies of me wearing the same shirt in my passport photo, it rejected the selfie and timed me out for 24 hours. I updated devices. Did it retain anything from my login profile? Of course not. You have to start from zero all over again.

As a temporary fix for the vaccination service, set the date to one day after the correct date so it will reflect the accurate vaccination date. After entering your first shot, tap Confirm and Continue, then Confirm, then tap Add a Shot --no need to go backwards! The additional photograph required for subsequent boosters accommodates those who have multiple vaccination cards.

The manual entry option included with version 3.18.2 is offered during the MRZ scan, which occurs right before the NFC chip read. At the bottom of the "Scan your passport" screen where it says "Enter Manually," you can tap that to enter your information.

I had a awful time in scanning my passport. I’ve never seen a program where you have to sit the cell phone on the passport and scan it. Why don’t you just make the system scan the actual barcode in the passport and upload The information. !!! And the drivers license same issue if you shake too much like me not really bad but it still did not download my drivers license same thing why can’t we just scan the barcode on the drivers license and let the information pop taking a selfie. This is true, structured or strict in taking your picture. Why can’t you use the picture of the driver or let us download a photo from our cell phone fix these issues it’ll get a five star from me

We appreciate your feedback and regret to hear you had an issue using the Airside app. The steps to enroll a document and have it verified adhere to the security measures we take to confirm there’s no fraudulent activity with your identity, including requiring a “live” selfie to match against the document photo.
For passports, the MRZ scan unlocks the NFC chip, which contains the biometric information from a passport’s photo page and is necessary for passport verification. For driver’s licenses, the information present on the front and back is required to verify data from the license issuing agency. We are aware of an issue enrolling licenses at this time and are working on a solution.
