Vendace \Ven"dace\, n. (Zool.)
   A European lake whitefish ({Coregonus Willughbii}, or
   {Coregonus Vandesius}) native of certain lakes in Scotland
   and England. It is regarded as a delicate food fish. Called
   also {vendis}.
