how can you be a goddess and stupid at the same time ?
Easily? I'm not sure where you got the idea that deities had to be particularly intelligent, since most aren't. Unless it's specifically a god of intelligence/science/technology or something.
And you know this because you met them before right ? you ate dinner with some gods ? come on tell me what are you sources here, and if you're gonna come back with "Oh I read it in this book" or "I saw it in this show" then please do yourself a favor and just don't bother lol.
P.S: I just can't stop laughing at how you presented that like "Oh everybody knows this, it's basic godhood 101, haven't you seen a god in real life before ?" .
What a surprise, i did not expect it to be this funny. I don't know if they are going to be able to keep up with the comedy but at least the first episode was more than funny. I really want to watch the next episode so I can see if it's actually something that will be as funny as Devil is a part timer.

Hey Popkorn, how are Loki, Cthulhu and Osiris? Have you met them by close? What food do they eat? What music they listen to?

You don't need to personally know fictional character (like Yahweh from bible) to have knowledge of them. Since they are fictional they are more or less defined in the original work where they first appear, and thus, having knowledge of said work is enough to have knowledge about that character.

Have you ever done any religious studies? All you have to do is look at most mythos to see that the vast majority of deities have little to no common sense or intelligence, and huge gaping human foibles.
Take the Greek pantheon, which almost everyone alive has heard the stories of.... Zeus: not very bright, had some anger issues, and screwed anything that stood still long enough. His wife Hera was a scheming jealous raging female canine. Other than Athena, the goddess of wisdom, NONE of them were that bright, and ALL had some pretty messed up issues. The Romans didn't improve on it much, basically just renamed them.
Don't even get me started on some of the messed up crap in the Vedic mythos.... again, mostly known for LACK of intelligence. Pretty much only the current western religions have an all knowing ( read intelligent ) deity.
P.S. I don't have to prove shit, since YOU are the one making the claims. Where is the supporting evidence that YOU have sat down / met with any intelligent deities?

Seriously. And everything you posted is even about real-life gods, which I wasn't even going to get into despite how utterly they destroy his position.
Particularly intelligent/non-childish gods are not something you see all that often in Anime.
Well ofc, we/humans made Gods - anime ones or otherwise, with us as a model. Stupidity is after all, the defining trait of humanity. Olden Greeks knew their stuff and so did Nords and other people of polytheistic religions. They knew how to make their Gods popular.

Exactly so. Which is precisely why I asked AsDeWqXYZ where he got the notion that gods couldn't be dumb/unintelligent, since neither actual nor animated history support that idea.
In that case I misunderstood your first comment and you misunderstood mine too, of course anime gods can be stupid, especially the ones in comedy shows, they are specifically made to be stupid, that's not the kind of stupidity I was talking about, I was making a joke at how stupid she was for a goddess that she doesn't even know the powers she has, or how her own laws work, to the point that she didn't even know that she can be chosen as a wish of a human, see it's one thing that she's stupid in the real world, but to not even know you're own rules is just a whole other level of stupid.
Just watched the first episode and I can't help but notice that the art in this show is awful. There were a few decently animated eye-candy scenes featuring scenery, but everything else was subpar. Worse of all were character faces...
I'm yet to read the novel, but I'm getting the impression that fanservice was pumped up for no good reason (the goddess does panty shots in the novel, but she couldn't possibly do them in this show).
The best part of the episode was the montage scene. It was genuinely funny and didn't had to rely on dialogue to be so.
If the manga and novel images can be trusted:
prepare for incoming giant frog tongue tentacles...
I think Megumin was supposed to wear an eyepatch, but it looks like they removed it from her character design.

Ok, next week. The deviant Crusader and Steal skill. No points for guessing what will the guy steal from girls, with his high luck stat. This show is some prim and proper bullshit. I like it.
