Editorial Reviews
Review
"This is certainly the collection of choice for any devotee of Qumran studies, and will quickly become the standard text for use in seminaries and graduate programs."
Biblical Archaeology Review
"A monumental work—the most extensive piece of original research undertaken by any scrolls scholar in the last decade."
Currents in Theology and Mission
"This will certainly be the standard for English translations of these documents for the foreseeable future. It is complete, accurate, and accessible. Anyone interested in early Judaism and the origins of Christianity should secure this text. It would also be a good addition to any parish library."
Journal for the Study of the Old Testament
"The most useful of the available collections not merely for its completeness but for its complete list of Qumran MSS serving also as an index to the context. Absolutely invaluable!"
The Bible Today
"The best and most comprehensive collection to date. A crisp introduction detailing the history of Qumran and assessing the nature of this Jewish sect plus an extensive bibliography make this an excellent resource for libraries and serious students of Qumran and the New Testament."

- Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2024A must add to your Bible research collection
- Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2014A most remarkable work. A little difficult to navigate at first, understandably. But, a real treasure trove of insight. This really confirms the Jews love for Jesus Christ as their Messiah. No wonder Israel kept this discovery under wraps for so many years. The community of Christian Jews in Qumran establish clear language of their beliefs that Christian converts are deified by pointing to Old Test. figures like Moses and others. They discuss the deification of The Priesthood, an angelic priesthood and their deification. The Bible does record these ideas in John 10, Psalm. 82 and so many other places. The fears of deification being a threat to monotheism is unfounded with the proper understanding of the entire Bible. And The DSS add to that understanding. These beliefs of human deification move from The Old Test. into The New Testament through Christ's resurrection. Additionally, The Dead Sea Scrolls substantiate The Apostle Paul's writings in a significant way. Actually, The DSS undergird everything within The New Test. text. and establishes evidence that the false teachings outside of real orthodox Judeo Christian beliefs are bogus. Martinez in his own right did a tremendous work with the team of translators delivering to us a solid foundation and to those who might doubt The Bible as a genuine God breathed divine text. Who would have known?
- Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2022This is a book for research not reading. I’ve always wanted to know what’s in the Dead Sea scrolls.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2016Some titles seem questionable but otherwise excellent!!! Wiles of a wicked woman seems to be inverse to description of wisdom in proverbs, so is probably more a description of the trait of folly than an individual woman
- Reviewed in the United States on April 26, 2016Never realized "the Qumran" was recovered so incompletely! Author did a great job of filling in some of the blanks! Thanx!
