Peanut Butter Dog Treats are the perfect, wholesome homemade treat for your dog! Made with only four ingredients, these dog cookies are simple to make and loved by canines of all shapes and sizes.
My entire family has a soft spot for our Boston Terrier, Bailey.
From extra long snuggles to daily walks, to a cushy dog bed, to homemade dog treats--this is one puppy that lives a good life.
Our dog has always had a bit of a sensitive stomach, as many dogs (and humans) do. She is on a gluten-free, corn-free, dairy-free diet--which may sound horrible, but trust me, Bailey does not seem to be suffering.
Especially given that we make Homemade Dog Treats, or as my kids call them Dog Cookies, on a regular basis.
Ingredients for Homemade Dog Treats
These simple dog treats are made with just oats, banana, peanut butter, and egg--which are ingredients that are known to not only be safe for dogs to consume but actually good for them as well.
Plus these staple ingredients are ones we always have on hand and these peanut butter dog treats come together in minutes. So no excuse NOT to spoil our dog with homemade treats.
How to Make Homemade Dog Treats
- Mash the banana with the egg and peanut butter.
- Mix in the oats.
- Scoop 1 tablespoon batter out onto baking sheet, lined with silmat or parchment paper.
- Flatten slightly with a fork, like traditional peanut butter cookies.
- Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.
- Let cookies cool completely on a wire rack.
- Store dog cookies in an airtight container for 5 days, or in the fridge for 7 days.
I would love to hear how you spoil your dog with these Peanut Butter Oatmeal Dog Cookies! And I won't judge if you sneak one for yourself!

All 4 of my dogs love this I've got two little Chihuahuas and two big dogs and they gobbled them up

Love hearing this! Thank you for sharing.
Amelia
This recipe is so easy to make, and my pup loves them. I had to add a little flour to mine because my banana was a little soft which make it very liquidy.
Lori
Thanks for this recipe. My elderly dachshund hasnโt bee enthusiast about eating this week, but he really perked up for these. Chicken is about all I could get him to eat. I was trying to figure out how to get him to eat a spoonful of oatmeal. Peanut butter and banana seemed like an obvious answer!
Kristen Chidsey
Oh I love hearing your dog enjoyed these. It is so hard when our fur babies don't want to eat!
Eli
This recipe works great, made 16 cookies with it and Iโm honestly surprised there arenโt more reviews on this! This is by far the best dog cookie recipe Iโve found that doesnโt include pumpkin and I will definitely be making these again, the dogs love them!
Kristen Chidsey
Thanks, Eli! I just made a batch for my Boston Terrier earlier today.

Can I leave out the banana.
I have oats and peanut butter and egg..but no banana.
Thanks
Kristen Chidsey
Hi Renee! I am sure your dog won't complain about there being no bananas, but you likely will need additional peanut butter or applesauce to hold the treats together.
Amy Lewis
Can these be frozen?
Kristen Chidsey
Absolutely! Allow the treats to cool, place them in an airtight freezer-safe container and store them in the freezer for up to 3 months. Pull a treat or two out at a time and let fully defrost at room temperature or in the refrigerator before allowing your dog to enjoy.

We ran out of training treats for our puppy and the weather has kept us from really going anywhere for the past few days so I made these. He loves them, I made them super small, he actually likes them more than the meat treats I get at the pet supply store.

I love hearing your sweet puppy enjoys these! Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and warm!

My dogs love them! Thanks for the recipe!!

My Jack Russell, Kirby, turns 16 today!!
I wondered if these bake to a softer cookie? Or is there a soft batch version as he has minimal teeth?
Thanks!
Kristen Chidsey
Hi Shelly! These are on the softer side. I would recommend cooking for a 1-2 minutes less for him to enjoy a softer treat. Happy Birthday to your pup!
Patricia Jarvis
Can you use sweet potato in these biscuits, how fattening are they
Kristen Chidsey
Hi Patricia! Feel free to use mashed sweet potato in place of the banana or half of each. As for nutrition, it is provided in the recipe card.
