Request
[wysig bron]Good morning, dear Aliwal2012 , I am pleased to greet you and ask you to please give me your reasons why I have been blocked in this project for a week and, if possible, to lift your block. Your block request mentions “repeated vandalism”. Could you please tell me which pages I have vandalized?
I am a file renamer coming from commons and you can check my contributions, where the same script shows in the edit summary what changes I am making on this wiki. Also, I belong to the global rollback group (See), so I am constantly looking out for minor changes on smaller wikis, reversing vandalism and requesting the removal of pages that are created by vandals. Also, I have been on all Wiki projects for over 11 years (courtesy link) so I consider myself familiar with Wikipedia's policies.
My last action in this wiki (before you blocked me), corresponds to the request for removal of a user page that corresponded to spam, because as you can see, he uses the same as self-promotion, mentioning his marketing pages, on more than one occasion.
I would be delighted if you could respond to my request and my concerns. Best regards --Mazbel (kontak) 14:27, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- Good evening Mazbel, I am looking into your concerns you raised at present.
- Please take note that on the Afrikaanse Wikipedia, we do rollbacks and "Requesting deletion" only after community involvement and agreement, not in isolation as you did.
- I will come back to you soon regarding your blocking by me. Regards, Aliwal2012 16:45, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- Dear Aliwal2012, I thank you for your prompt response to some of my concerns, and I will be pleased if you can explain the reason for the blocking. In the meantime, I would like to comment on a few extra points:
- When you mention the topic “we do rollbacks and "Requesting deletion" only after community involvement and agreement”.
- 1. Rollback . On Wikipedia, there is no page that talks about the reversion process and I can understand that, given that there is no local permission. Still, I tried to look for some policy that talks about “how to revert” locally and the only close thing I found, corresponds to the same policy page that mentions that most of the local policies come from the English Wikipedia. Thus, since there is no local policy, it must be governed according to the global policy. In this one, there is no mention that a reversion must be made after community participation and agreement, which in itself would not make sense.
- 2. Requestiog deletion. I checked Wikipedia:Bladsyverwydering, Wikipedia:Spoedige verwyderings The first one mentions a vote regarding deleting pages from Wikipedia and here it would make all the sense in the world in what you tell me about community participation and agreement. Even so, it mentions that there are cases of immediate deletion as corresponds to spam. The second page mentions the criteria for quick deletion, when it is not necessary a consensus by the community to delete an entry, which is also applicable to a spam page. With this and allow me to place two more pages. The one I consider most important, one of the same policies. Wikipedia:Wat Wikipedia nie is nie.
- Point 1.6 clearly mentions about: not using pages as a web repository, so, using common sense, it makes sense to have placed a deletion template to a user page that was evidently self-promotion. Along the same lines, here is a page dedicated to the topic of what should be placed on a user page Wikipedia:Gebruikersblad and also, quoting from the previous page, mentions about the link repository.
- Finally, I also searched for a page that talked about blocking and I didn't find any more than a guide - link to the Wikipedia policies in English, all this, with the intention of understanding the blocking without some warning/warning. I also tried to read the local page on what is considered “vandalizing” and as explained in it, I fail to evidence “what are my actions that are about vandalism in this space” and as also suggested on the previous page, there is also no prior notice prior to administrative action. Again, I thank you for your time in responding to my concerns, which I believe are valid in the face of a blockage without prior warning/message. Best regards --Mazbel (kontak) 20:06, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- Good afternoon Mazbel, I have reviewed your concerns, and wish to apologize, your rollbacks were not blatant vandalizm as I first believed.
- I am lifting your blockage immediately, and wish you much more happy editing on the Afrikaanse Wikipedia!
