$250 to remove brand removal?? Is this true?

Before I buy XF, I saw that on top of the $140 licensing fee, it's an additional $250 to remove the copyright brand:

" Branding Removal - $250*
This allows you to remove the visible XenForo copyright notice from all pages."

It seems a bit high, since I'm already dropping $140 upfront

Do you guys remove the this brand/copy logo?
Are there other ways to remove the brand after spending $140? via CSS coding for example?

This will invalidate your licence if you remove the copyright without paying. You will be banned from support and licence revoked.

Nah you're not.
Calm your farm please mate.
You don't have to get that now with the initial license payment.
Now can you please stop complaining all the time about things you detest about this software?
Do this before @Paul B loses his cool at you mate.
"complaining all the time " where am i complaining all the time about things i detest about this software? Is one not Allowed to complain here in a thread that was started to talk about the fee? Did i miss some rule?

I don't think the fee is ridiculous. I actually thought $250 was too low, which is why I purchased it for two of my five licenses. The other three will have it, too, if/when those sites start to pick up enough activity to cover that cost. Otherwise, I'll just keep plugging away with the copyright on those sites. It really makes no difference to me. I only do it because I just think the footer looks a little cleaner/more professional without it. I don't see a bit of difference, otherwise, between the sites that have the copyright and the ones that don't.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. I'd like to suggest that it would be a bit more userfriendly to make it switchable in the ACP to give the owner the choice. Again, I don't actually want to remove the branding even if it was free to do so, hence this doesn't actually make any difference to me, just giving my tuppence worth.

I mean, I could always just add it back in the additional copyright phrase but I assume most folks who pay for the removal probably want it removed. Anyone who didn't pay for it shouldn't have an option.

^ That.

Not sure what purpose an optional switch would serve.
User friendly for whom?

Those who pay for it presumably want it gone permanently and would not restore it so it would be redundant.

I'm very happy to be able to show my visitors/members that I'm using the best software out there, it gives credence to how much you think of them by giving assurances that they are in safe hands. For Corporates or any other type of business who decide to pay to have the copyright notice removed, that's an option for them to decide upon - as it is for anyone else who wants to have it removed.

XF, as with other similar, use that notice to promote their wares and that helps to keep the costs down. Perhaps if they removed it for everyone and made the cost of the software $500+ with an annual renewal of $100+ I reckon there would be more complaining lol.
