We got three dishes of kottu at the Magnolia farmers market: veggie, lamb, and chicken. They look like they are covered with a bright minty chutney, but no such luck. All three were salty, greasy and mushy. Flavors were OK. "Very Spicy" was hardly spicy. The lunch portion was easily enough for two people- the food is just really dense. We were disappointed. Leftovers are improved by copious amounts of hot sauce.
Unfortunately as we walked around the market it looked like none of the other customers of this stand were finishing their lunch either.
I hope they are able to improve their recipe because it looks and smells delicious and the people are nice!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 9, 2024
AMAZING addition to the Columbia City Saturday market food truck scene - we tried both the butter chicken and the garlic lamb and they were both a delightful flavor bomb in the absolute best way. Truly delicious, with layers of complex flavor.
We shared 2 entrees and it was a way generous portion even for 3 people (we have leftovers).Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Jul 15, 2024
Tried this at Ballard seafoodfest. I ordered the mango chicken curry with habenero sauce. The owner was really friendly and I chatted with him while waiting for my order.
Kottu was an absolute flavor explosion, it was the perfect amount of spice and crunch!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 4, 2024
Tried this place in the Fremont Sunday market. It was my first time having Sri Lankan food. I enjoyed the mango chicken curry, all the toppings gave it a good crunch too! It tasted very fresh and was pretty healthy with all the different vegetables served with it.

Saw there's a Yelp site for Kottu. My only experience with Chef/owner Syd Suntha's mobile spot was back on 7/3/22 when he was adjacent to Chuck's Hop Shop in Greenwood.
Never had Sri Lankan cuisine, but what I had was an explosion of flavor and textures. Watching him cook on the spot was also very mesmerizing. Amazing when at the time it was just him. Innovative chef and part of a culinary podcast. His Wu Tang Clan extravaganza last year with other chefs was also a huge success, as I recall.
He's all over the greater Seattle area, so it's best to follow him via Instagram or his website.Helpful 6Thanks 1Love this 9Oh no 1 - May 6, 2023
Food was really good! Also veggie options (spinach paneer) that can be made vegan upon request. Super speedy and friendly service as well. Really reasonable prices for a large portion. It's a food truck so you get to watch it cooked in front of you, so ambiance-wise that's cool. They also had some helpful info, utensils, and dog treats off on the side table. Would definitely recommend!

What a cool concept to make a food truck business out of. It's hard to find vegan kottu, let alone kottu in general, so I excitedly hunted this place down on my visit to Seattle. Luckily, I was staying near the Fremont Sunday Market, where you can often find the truck.
They rotate the different kinds of kottu they have on offer, but they always have a vegan version. So I ordered their spinach kottu ($17 plus tax) with mild spice -- as of now, their jalapeno (medium) and habanero (spicy) versions are non-vegan, but the guy running the truck intends to change that soon. Fortunately, the kottu is so good that it showcases well with mild spice. I got a nice big container of kottu (the photo doesn't do it justice), with a wonderful consistency of the shredded roti, spinach, other veggies (cabbage, leeks, carrots, onions), garnished with puffed and crispy rice, and raw red onion. Oh man what a flavour explosion. I haven't had too many vegan kottus before, but my benchmark is the wonderful Mirisata in PDX and this was nearly as impressive. My only slight complaint is the price tag, which seems quite steep for a food truck meal, though I do get that prices have increased recently in general.
All in all, a wonderful experience, super friendly service, and absolutely delectable food. I hope this food truck lasts, and I will definitely be hunting them down on future trips to Seattle. Highly recommend.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Dylan L.Kentfield, CAJun 9, 2024
