The Vives Network of Universities (Xarxa Vives d’Universitats) is a non-profit organisation that represents and coordinates the joint work of 22 universities.

The purpose of  the Vives Network is to strengthen relations between universities in Catalonia, the Valencian Region, the Balearic Islands, Northern Catalonia, Andorra and Sardinia, and also other territories with shared geographical, historical, cultural and linguistic links, in order to create a university space that allows coordination of teaching, research and cultural activities, and to encourage the use and normalisation of the language itself.

To be the leading network for joint action and the platform for development of shared strategies by universities in the area comprising societies with Catalan culture and language, spread throughout the Pyrenees and Mediterranean region.

The Vives Network of Universities promotes the cohesion of the university community and strengthens the reach and impact of universities on society. Vives Network performs its mission:

  • Through a coordinated, shared working system, based on equity between its members, quality and service.
  • By formulating joint proposals by universities and facilitating their inclusion in the social and political agenda of each administrative context.
  • By contributing to further strengthening higher education and research.
  • Linguistic unity among member university communities with shared geographic, historical and cultural links

Cross of Santa Llúcia

Morella City Council awards Xarxa Vives d’Universitats the Cross of Santa Llúcia, the highest distinction awarded by the city of Morella, in recognition of the institution’s 25 years of work and its contribution to the progress of university communities in the Pyrenees-Mediterranean region.

As part of the celebrations for its 200th edition, Gaceta Universitària gave an award to Xarxa Vives for its initiative in creating a shared university space allowing the coordination of teaching, research, cultural activities and promotion of the Catalan language.

Official reception at Castelló City Council
The Plenary Session of Castelló City Council, at the proposal of the Municipal Group of Unitat del País Valencià-Grau Unit decided to hold an official reception in the council chamber to show the council’s satisfaction with Castelló being chosen as the headquarters of Xarxa Vives d’Universitats.

The Regional Council of La Noguera awarded the Universities of the Balearic Islands, Girona, Lleida, Perpignan and Rovira i Virgili the Comte Jaume d’Urgell Prize for their initiative to establish a joint collaboration framework, which formed the embryo of Xarxa Vives d’Universitats.
