Welcome to the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences (CSAHS), which traces its origins and traditions to the establishment of the Macdonald Institute, one of the University of Guelph's three founding colleges.
The college provides programming in a range of social and applied science disciplines, preparing our students for fulfilling careers improving life. Our mission is to address complex issues facing families, communities, societies and our world by working within, across and beyond our academic disciplines. We accomplish this through learner-centred teaching, rigorous research, and responsible and reciprocal engagement with the people and communities we work with.

Meet the Dean
Uwa Idemudia became Dean of the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences in January 2023. Dr. Idemudia is an expert in the political economy/ecology of natural resources extraction, the cultural politics of development, Black geographies, and other interdisciplinary topics.
Our Programs
The College of Social and Applied Human Sciences offers a wide range of degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate level. Students can take advantage of our interdisciplinary approach by tailoring their degree to their interests through minors, areas of emphasis, and more.
