The lands of Wabanaki (WAH-BAH-NAH-KEE) people are recognized in a series of Peace and Friendship Treaties to establish an ongoing relationship of peace, friendship and mutual respect between equal nations. The river that runs by our university is known as Wolastoq (WOOL-LUSS-TOOK), along which live Wolastoqiyik (WOOL-US-TOO-GWEEG) - the people of the beautiful and bountiful river. Wolastoq (WOOL-LUSS-TOOK) is also called the St. John River.

June 25 - 26 | Showcasing current graduate student research in education in the Atlantic region and beyond, the AEGSC is collaborating with The Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). This year's conference will take place online in a dual synchronous and asynchronous format.
With the guidance and support of elders from different Indigenous Nations in Canada and abroad, a University of New Brunswick researcher is working to improve collaboration and transdisciplinary research between Indigenous and non-Indigenous researchers and communities.
Alicia Noreiga-Mundaroy (BEd’11, MEd’16) came to New Brunswick from Trinidad and Tobago in 2018 to pursue her PhD in education at UNB. Two years later, she says that she could see herself making the province her new home. “It’s so quiet and peaceful here.”
Two faculty members and a UNB Fredericton graduate have received development funding from Telefilm Canada for their next two feature films.
UNB education students have the opportunity to carry on the legacy of the faculty’s late dean Dr. Ann Sherman, thanks to a generous commitment of $400,000 from the John and Judy Bragg Family Foundation in support of early childhood education.
