Your name is KidK, and your pronouns are she/her. You are a millennial and an attorney, but more importantly you are a fan of many things you think are cool. What will you do? (Probably make a pun or quote Terry Pratchett. Or both.) Header image by @cassiesart.

I’m a lil’ tipsy and we’re playing TotK for the third time and I just wanna say I KNOW there’s plenty of criticism to be had for this game and some of it’s valid but THE MUSIC??? Goes hard. We just did Fire Temple and after fourth lock the way the music blends Yunobo’s and Daruk’s themes? Gorgeous and inspiring!

And then we flew over to get the sword geoglyph memory… And the part where the Master Sword is just appearing to and apparently speaking to Zelda and it PLAYS FI’S THEME????

I CRY!!!!!!!

Like you don’t have to have played Skyward Sword to understand the sword’s communicating with Zelda somehow. If you’ve played BotW you know there’s “a voice” in there that’s reached out to Zelda before. But. If you HAVE experienced Skyward Sword… and you KNOW FI…

GOD DAMN IT!!!!!

Having headcanons is so fun because sometimes you’ll be like “I believe Blorbo suffered childhood trauma, specifically abandonment and ostracism from their community, and this is the reason they took X action in canon. I base this off these brief but telling conversations they had with others in five different episodes, plus their reaction when Skrimblo disappeared for two days.”

But then also sometimes you’ll say “I think Glup Shitto is lactose intolerant.”

I love reading through the notes of this post of mine because there are some really funny out-of-nowhere headcanons in there such as characters having the soap cilantro gene or reading Warrior Cats. I've never even heard of some of the characters but you know? In my opinion all these headcanons are true and correct.

So because you have entertained me, as a gift to you all I would like to finally admit almost two years later that while I didn't have any particular character in mind when giving that Blorbo example, the Glup Shitto example was in fact one of my many unnecessary yet sincerely held headcanons about Master Fucking Kohga from the Legends of the Zeldas Age of Clammy.

Since it's Father's Day where I am, today I want to share with you some facts and stories about my Master Kohga's father! Who as I'm sure you all know by now was also titled Master Kohga after his ascension to the chiefdom, which always makes it a little awkward to write about him... I like calling him Daddy Kohga and just plain Dad so that's what I'll do this time too! But first of all for reference this is him, drawn by @purpledemonart , for your viewing pleasure.

  • Daddy Kohga was a big, strong goofball of a man, a very larger-than-life personality. Even when he was a kid, he was the one suggesting shenanigans among his friend group.
  • His parents, Nana Kohga and her tough Right Hand Blademaster husband, trained him extensively in both arcane and weapons techniques, but he was always trying to put his own spin on things. He ended up much better at the Blademaster stuff than at the magic stuff (which is why Nana was her grandson's first teacher on those things) and mostly used sword-based magic techniques. But damn that guy was powerful. Like. Cut a Lynel in Half powerful.
  • Also quite a looker, so I'm told. I mean I don't know what he reaaaally looked like but according to Kohga he was. His usual disguised face had a strong jawline and very nice eyebrows, and he had his son's same black curlycoily hair, just not as long. Koh says he picked his own disguise as a mix of his parents' but heavy on the Dad part, and given how handsome he is, I can believe the face Dad showed around was too.
  • Hobbies included: sparring with friends, acting, dancing, fishing (when out on missions) and, like his mother and wife, strategy board games. While Nana and Hotaru preferred shi-ku (the Yiga equivalent of go), Dad liked Master vs. King (abbreviated as Masking), a game a bit like Shogun where players place warriors on a board and attempt to overwhelm the other side. He was pretty good at playing both sides (Yiga and Hylian, basically), but of course preferred the Master strategy.

Y'know how in the Wilds Era games there's three "safflina" varieties--cool, warm, and electric--that give you resistances? Personally I headcanon that there's a regular old just safflina plant that doesn't have those effects, and that the elemental ones are varietals that evolved from that original type. You do see plants scattered around in the games with the same basic flower shape as the elemental safflinas, but with a plainer color (that you can't pick up of course).

And I also headcanon that safflina is used in Hyrule as a pain medication. Aaaaand also that parts of it can be used as a mild to moderate narcotic, depending on the dose. Yeah. It's Hyrule Weed.

The elemental varietals also have a bit of that soporific/euphoric effect but it's less noticeable due to their other properties. And the parts of the plant that produce the narcotic effect can easily be left out of preparations to be used for other purposes. Cool safflina, for example, is used in making teeth cleaners and breath fresheners, and warm safflina can be included as a spice or an ingredient in hot candy.

But yeah. Regular old safflina is for smokin' up! (And medicine. It really is like weed that way.)

Gamers who've played Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom but haven't played or watched Age of Calamity are gonna get a Switch 2 and the Zelda Notes app thing and find out all of a sudden that Master Kohga has a sexy speaking voice. I can't wait.

Congratulations to me for playing myself by acting even the slightest bit smug in this post. For I already knew Kohga’s voice is sexy, yet every time we discover another memory I’m fanning myself to keep from combusting. I’m coming on here to tattle on myself though because I may be cringe, but I am free and living deliciously with my phone purring at me across the Depths. <3

The disguised Yiga hanging out practicing his moves in the Aquame Lake Well in TotK says his “brethren have been cut down” and that he’s going to fight Link “FOR MY KIN” but the Yiga Clan are totally personality-less uncaring badnasty evil I guess.

Ah yes my very cool Yiga OCs who I lack the time and skill to draw so you’ll just have to take my word for it, including such hits as:

101-year-old Blademaster, former Right Hand to three generations of Masters

127-year-old apothecary who threatens to poison you if you are even the slightest bit rude to her

144-year-old mostly-blind historian/chronicler with uncanny knowledge of the Clan’s vast archives

54-year-old hairdresser who has all the gossip

55-year-old mom of two Footsoldier whose specialty spy method is fortunetelling

60-something head cook who’s built like a Goron with the refined palate of the fanciest chef

Kohga’s parents (dead) who were 50 and 75

Kohga’s nana (dead) who was in her 90s

6-year-old girl who’s going to end up running the joint if Kohga’s not careful

So currently the Plan is to start a brand new TotK file on our Switch 2 and just play normally. We’ll use the Zelda Notes app’s various features and collect the voice notes naturally (although we might end up going in the Depths sooner than we did on our first two plays, hehe) as we go along.

I’ll try to record and all of Kohga’s and if at all possible I’ll eventually make a compilation audio file to post here. But. I’m a middle-aged lawyer who works way too many hours and has other hobbies and such and I want to enjoy the game again, not rush through, so. That may take a while. So it’s likely someone else will beat me to posting something like that! Like, almost certain!

But still. That’s our Plan (me and Bast). And we’re going to have fun playing the game again!

My friends…I have heard him. Just a couple clips of him. But we’re not going crazy searching them all out or anything. Playing the game as normal and we’ll come down to the Depths when it makes sense to. Still…now we know how many clips there are (a whole three-act play’s worth!!!), and I know this purchase was worth it. Ahhh, I’m happy and content this Saturday night.

Yiga Clan’d up on a Wednesday night in the Switch 2 line and—

BEES????????

Seriously though we had FUN waiting in line and I wasn’t expecting that. We were in the middle of a nice group of guys who were talking about old games and we could easily join in. Then at midnight when things were going slow we were joking about timing each other when we got brought inside and cheering when anybody came out. It felt quite festive, really great vibes from the whole bunch around us.

Shoutout to all those dudes. We were like kids being best friends in the hotel pool until our parents took us away. Except we drove ourselves.

Bast: *driving us home yesterday at like 1:30am after we got our Switch 2* You know you just paid that much money so we can hear Kohga talk to us and it's not even OUR Kohga, it's the other one.

Me: Oh I know it's not oooour best guy but he's A best guy. ...lol it's just like me loving both Spades Slick and Jack Noir. I'm allowed to love two different Kohgas.

Bast: And it's still Eric Braa.

Me: Yes it's still Eric Braa.

Bast: Simp.

Me: Indeed.

Damn “terzor.whitneyb@921219.com,” this looks totally legit! The MVC definitely texts individuals about traffic tickets (which it collects on, not the municipal courts), and their website to pay online really is what you say it is and the “mbr.vip” in there is nothing for anyone to worry about. And New Jersey Administrative Code cites are written like that. That’s a real cite. I would never doubt you Terzor Whitney B.

Just one question though, before I go to your link and give you my credit card and social security numbers.

How did I get a traffic ticket when I don’t own a car and can’t drive?
