However, it does have a high price tag and takes a bit of work to load and secure before heading to your destination. Keep reading for our full product review. Spending a day on the shore with a toddler requires a lot of stuff: beach chairs, umbrellas, toys, towels, snacks, the list goes on. So now, not only do I need something to lug everything from our beach house to our spot on the sand, but I also need it to be easy to pack and easy to transport. One of the beach carts that I tested out during a weekend in Montauk was the WheelEEZ Folding Beach Cart. This cart has some serious wheels, so I was excited to give it a test drive. Did it store what my family needed for the beach? Was it easy to transport and pack? Read on to see what I thought. TripSavvy / Michelle Piccolo Setup Process: A few simple steps The cart isn’t totally assembled out of the box, but it only takes a few steps to get it in working order. Simply snip a few ties that hold it together, then open the frame, add the axel that holds the wheels on the cart, and pop on the wheels. You can check out this YouTube assembly video for assistance if needed. When you’re ready to pack away, all you need to do is lower the handle and fold up the base of the cart. TripSavvy / Michelle Piccolo Design: Took some maneuvering to get everything loaded up in the cart The WheelEEZ is a workhorse. This cart features two 11.8-inch, low-pressure balloon wheels, which help it not to sink or plow into sand or other challenging terrains. The adjustable handle is also extremely sturdy, making it easy to grip and pull the cart where you need it. I appreciated that it was telescopic, so it could reach up to 49 inches in height. This cart features two 11.8-inch, low-pressure balloon wheels, which help it not to sink or plow into sand or other challenging terrains. Unlike a traditional beach cart, there isn’t one big basket to store everything. It features an L-shaped steel frame with two cargo straps and one elastic band to help secure everything in place. The cargo straps are tied to the side frame and can hold belongings up against the cart. The WheelEEZ easily folds flat for storage in a closet, garage, or car. At 29 x 15 x 12 inches when folded, it’s easy to fit almost anywhere. It’s also 18 pounds—pretty lightweight for carrying when not in use. TripSavvy / Michelle Piccolo Performance: The wheels made pulling the cart over the sand a breeze While the cart is super sturdy, the one thing that I wasn’t so pleased with was the process of loading and securing all of our beach gear. I felt it was a lot easier to get a regular beach cart packed up than the WheelEEZ cart. The one thing that I wasn’t so pleased with was the process of loading and securing all of our beach gear. Still, after some trial and error, we were able to get our cooler, beach umbrella, diaper bag backpack, towels, and a bucket of beach toys attached to the cart. The elastic band was particularly helpful in keeping our large cooler secure. And once we loaded up the cart, we were able to easily get to our destination without having to struggle to get across the sand. That’s because the polyurethane wheels flatten the sand rather than sink into it. The cart also excelled at going down sidewalks, paths, and around corners. Capacity: More ideal for larger, heavier items In my opinion, the WheelEEZ is more ideal for hauling larger, heavier-duty items that wouldn’t fit as well in a normal beach wagon (think big coolers, tents, and fishing equipment). The wagon’s platform dimensions are 14 x 14.5 inches, and the weight capacity is 165 pounds, so it could handle a large load. My husband is actually planning to use it for fishing, as it would make bringing coolers and tackle boxes from the car to the boat a lot easier. As the manufacturer site notes, it would also be great for hauling surfboards, camera and sound equipment, or sports gear. Price: Expensive, but a good investment for a busy summer For a beach cart, this definitely isn’t cheap. At nearly $300, it’s one of the most expensive options on the market (basic beach wagons go for as cheap as $65 to around $150). However, if you have a lot of uses for this type of cart, it will be worth the cost for something that can haul heavy and bulky items regularly. Note that it only has a six-month warranty from the purchase date, so I recommend testing it out as much as you can before time runs out to make sure there are no issues. WheelEEZ Folding Beach Cart vs. dbest products Bigger Trolley Dolly When checking out other wagons with a similar dolly style, I came across the dbest products Bigger Trolley Dolly. It is a lot cheaper, at only $50, and has a capacity of 150 pounds (15 pounds lighter than the WheelEEZ cart). It also comes with a bag that attaches for storage if needed. However, there are no straps to help secure items on the cart, and the wheels are much smaller and look cheaper. The dbest products cart seems best for the beach if you only need a few simple items. It would also be really great for running errands or for taking small trips without a lot of heavy, bulky items in tow. Great for hauling heavy items. The WheelEEZ Folding Beach Cart is extremely durable and perfect for bulky beach items and other gear. It has a high price tag, but if you can get a lot of use out of it during activities such as fishing, camping trips, or beach BBQs, it will be worth the spend.
