     John Walter Womersley was born on 22 May 1919.1 He was the son of Sir Walter James Womersley, 1st Bt. and Anne Stamp.1 He married Betty Williams, daughter of Cyril Williams, on 12 February 1941.1 He died on 14 November 1944 at age 25 at Forli, Italy, killed in action.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Lincolnshire Regiment.1 He fought in the Second World War.1
