     He was Secretary of the Bombay Port Trust.1

     He was educated at Sedbergh School, Sedbergh, Cumbria, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel between 1916 and 1919 in the 4th Battalion, British West Indies Regiment.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Donegal.1

     He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.1 He gained the rank of officer between 1907 and 1935 in the Royal Army Medical Corps.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1
