     Thomas Steele was born in 1753.1 He was the son of Thomas Steele and Elizabeth Madgwick.1 He married Charlotte Amelia Lindsay, daughter of Sir David Lindsay, 4th Bt. and Susanna Charlotte Long, on 3 September 1785.1 He died on 8 December 1823.1
     He was educated at Westminster School, Westminster, London, England.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Chichester between 1780 and 1807.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1791.1

     Alexander Murray, Lord Henderland was born on 11 May 1736.1 He was the son of Archibald Murray of Murrayfield and Jane Hay.1 He married Katherine Lindsay, daughter of Sir Alexander Lindsay, 3rd Bt. and Hon. Amelia Murray, on 15 April 1773.1 He died on 16 March 1795 at age 58, from cholera.1
     He held the office of Solcitor General [Scotland] between 1775 and 1783.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Peebles-shire between 1780 and 1783.1 He held the office of Lord of Session in 1783.1 He was styled as Lord Henderland [Scottish Law Lord] on 6 March 1783.1
