     William Edward James was born on 7 December 1816.1 He was the son of William James and Fanny Rutson.1 He married Elizabeth Hill, daughter of William Hill, in September 1841.1 He died on 27 December 1879 at age 63.1
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Cumberland.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Cumberland.1 He lived at Barrock, Cumberland, England.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 34th Regiment.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Cumberland in 1867.1
