Sir John Edward Noel O'Brien, 5th Bt.1

     Sir John Edward Noel O'Brien, 5th Bt. was born on 23 December 1899 at Kensington, London, England.2,3 He was the son of Edmond Lyons O'Brien and Audrey Townsend Crawford.2 He married, firstly, Moira Violet Brassey, daughter of Captain Robert Bingham Brassey and Violet Edith Lowry-Corry, on 27 July 1928.1 He and Moira Violet Brassey were divorced in 1940.1 He married, secondly, Rosemary Brent Grotrian, daughter of Edgar Grotrian and Elsie Mary Frazer, on 11 September 1940.2 He died on 28 September 1969 at age 69.3
     He was educated at Oratory School, South Kensington, London, England.2 He was educated at Pembroke College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.2 He gained the rank of Captain in the HQ Staff, 46 Division.2 He fought in the Second World War.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1940.2 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet O'Brien, of Merrion Square, Dublin and Borris-in-Ossory, Queen's County [U.K., 1849] on 18 April 1952.2

     Rosemary Brent Grotrian was born on 25 February 1906.1 She was the daughter of Edgar Grotrian and Elsie Mary Frazer.2 She married, firstly, Lt.-Col. Eric Arthur Staniland in 1927.1 She and Lt.-Col. Eric Arthur Staniland were divorced in 1940.1 She married, secondly, Sir John Edward Noel O'Brien, 5th Bt., son of Edmond Lyons O'Brien and Audrey Townsend Crawford, on 11 September 1940.1 She died on 14 January 1980 at age 73.2
     From 1927, her married name became Staniland. From 11 September 1940, her married name became O'Brien.

     Edgar Grotrian was born on 14 September 1872.1 He was the son of Frederick Brent Grotrian and Elizabeth Hunter.2 He married Elsie Mary Frazer, daughter of William Frazer, on 27 April 1905.1 He died on 30 March 1949 at age 76.1
     He lived at Knapton Hall, Malton, Yorkshire, EnglandG.1

     Richard Edgcumbe, 2nd Baron Edgcumbe of Mount-Edgcumbe was born on 2 August 1716.1 He was the son of Richard Edgcumbe, 1st Baron Edgcumbe of Mount-Edgcumbe and Matilda Furnese.1 He died in 1761, unmarried.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Plympton between 1742 and 1747.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Lostwithiel between 1747 and 1754.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Penryn between 1754 and 1758.1 He held the office of Lord Commissioner of Trade and Plantations from 1754 to 1755.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1756.1 He held the office of Comptroller to the Household between 1756 and 1761.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Edgcumbe of Mount-Edgcumbe [G.B., 1742] on 22 November 1758.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall between 1759 and 1761.1

He married Anna Maria Heywood-Lonsdale, daughter of Arthur Pemberton Heywood-Lonsdale and Frances Elizabeth Neilson.3 He died on 24 October 1944 at age 80.2
