     He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1887 entitled to practise as a barrister.¹ He was appointed King's Counsel (K.C.) in 1914.¹ He held the office of Bencher of Inner Temple in 1923.¹ He was appointed Knight in 1929.¹

     Hendrik Gildemeester was born on 12 May 1759 at Lisbon, Portugal.¹ He was the son of Daniël Gildemeester and Emmeline Micholls.¹ He married Albertine Frederica Cornelia van Gheel in 1782.¹ He died on 24 March 1823 at age 63 at Amsterdam, The Netherlands.¹

     Emmeline Micholls was born in 1843 at Manchester, Lancashire, England.^2,3 She was the daughter of Henry Micholls and Frederica Behrens.³ She married Rt. Hon. Arthur Cohen, son of Benjamin Cohen and Justina Montefiore, on 23 August 1860 at Manchester, Lancashire, England.^1,2 She died in 1888 at Kensington, London, England.^1,2
     From 23 August 1860, her married name became Cohen.
