     He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of officer in the Canadian Engineers.1 He fought in the Lieutenant, Royal Navy.1

     Maud Eleonora Hardy was the daughter of Colonel John Hardy. She married Lt.-Col. Frank Douglas-Pennant, 5th Baron Penrhyn of Llandegai, son of Lt.-Col. Hon. Archibald Charles Henry Douglas-Pennant and Hon. Harriet Ella Gifford, on 25 April 1892.1 She and Lt.-Col. Frank Douglas-Pennant, 5th Baron Penrhyn of Llandegai were divorced in 1903.1 She died on 12 December 1936.1
     From 25 April 1892, her married name became Douglas-Pennant.1

     Brig.-Gen. Gerald Frederic Trotter was born on 21 July 1871.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Sir Henry Trotter, 11th of Mortonhall and 2nd of Charterhall and Hon. Eva Gifford.1 He died on 14 June 1945 at age 73, unmarried.1
     He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1900.1 He gained the rank of Brigadier-General in the Grenadier Guards.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1916.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1917.1 He was commander of the British Military Mission to USA between 1917 and 1918.1 He held the office of Gentleman Usher to HM King George V in 1919.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1919.1 He held the office of Groom-in-Waiting to HRH The Prince of Wales in 1920.1 He held the office of Extra Equerry to HRH The Prince of Wales in 1925.1 He was appointed Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) in 1926.1 He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor-General of Canada.1
