Gillean Maclaine was born illegitimately in 1724 at Lochbuie, Isle of Mull, Argyllshire, Scotland.1,2 He was the son of John Maclaine, 17th of Lochbuie.1 He married Marie MacQuarrie in 1771.2 He died on 4 February 1788.1 He was also reported to have died on 23 November 1788 at Scallasdale, Isle of Mull, Argyllshire, Scotland.2
