     Peter Ludlow was the son of Stephen Ludlow. He married Mary Preston, daughter of Phineas Preston and Hon. Mary Stewart.1 He died on 19 June 1750.
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)1

     Peter Ludlow, 1st Earl Ludlow was born on 21 April 1730.1 He was the son of Peter Ludlow and Mary Preston.2 He married Lady Frances Lumley-Saunderson, daughter of Thomas Lumley-Saunderson, 3rd Earl of Scarbrough and Lady Frances Hamilton, on 26 June 1753.1 He died on 26 October 1803 at age 73.1
     He was created 1st Baron Ludlow of Ardsallagh, of Ardsallagh and Great Stoughton, co. Huntingdon [Ireland] on 19 December 1755.1 He was created 1st Earl Ludlow [Ireland] on 3 October 1760.1 He was created 1st Viscount Preston of Ardsallagh, co. Meath [Ireland] on 3 October 1760.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Huntingdonshire between 1768 and 1796.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1782.1 He held the office of Comptroller of the Household between 1782 and 1784.1

Thomas Sydenham Clarke1

     Thomas Sydenham Clarke was born on 18 December 1814 at Kent, England.1 He was the son of General Tredway Clarke and Sarah Sydenham.1 He was baptised on 18 June 1815 at Old Church, St. Pancras, London, England.1 He married Julia Hilton, daughter of Henry Hilton, on 17 August 1841 at Kent, England.1 He died on 3 July 1873 at age 58 at Marylebone, London, England.1
     He was a practising barrister-at-law.1

     Lady Frances Lumley-Saunderson was the daughter of Thomas Lumley-Saunderson, 3rd Earl of Scarbrough and Lady Frances Hamilton.2 She married Peter Ludlow, 1st Earl Ludlow, son of Peter Ludlow and Mary Preston, on 26 June 1753.1 She died on 20 March 1796.2
     From 26 June 1753, her married name became Ludlow.

     Augustus Ludlow, 2nd Earl Ludlow was born on 1 January 1755.1 He was the son of Peter Ludlow, 1st Earl Ludlow and Lady Frances Lumley-Saunderson.2 He died on 7 November 1811 at age 56, unmarried.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Ludlow of Ardsallagh, of Ardsallagh and Great Stoughton, co. Huntingdon [I., 1755] on 26 October 1803.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Earl Ludlow [I., 1760] on 26 October 1803.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Preston of Ardsallagh, co. Meath [I., 1760] on 26 October 1803.1

General George James Ludlow, 3rd Earl Ludlow1

     General George James Ludlow, 3rd Earl Ludlow was born on 12 December 1758.1 He was the son of Peter Ludlow, 1st Earl Ludlow and Lady Frances Lumley-Saunderson.2 He died on 16 April 1842 at age 83, unmarried.1
     He was commissioned in 1778 with the rank of officer.1 He fought in the American War of Independence.1 He was Equerry to HRH The Prince of Wales between 1784 and 1795.1 He fought in the Battle of Roubaix on 17 May 1794, where he lost his left arm.1 He held the office of Deputy Governor of Berwick between 1795 and 1842.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1798.1 He fought in the Battle of Aboukir in 1801.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) in 1804.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in 1805.1 He fought in the North German Expedition in 1805.1 He fought in the Copenhagen Expedition in 1807.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Earl Ludlow [I., 1760] on 7 November 1811.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Viscount Preston of Ardsallagh, co. Meath [I., 1760] on 7 November 1811.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Ludlow of Ardsallagh, of Ardsallagh and Great Stoughton, co. Huntingdon [I., 1755] on 7 November 1811.1 He gained the rank of General in 1814.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) in 1815.1 On his death, all of his titles became extinct, and his estates passedto Lord John Russell.1
