Charlotte Isabella Browne was born on 15 February 1810 at Calcutta, India.2 She was the daughter of John Browne.3 She was baptised on 23 October 1810 at Calcutta, India.2 She married Lt.-Gen. Sir George St. Patrick Lawrence, son of Lt.-Col. Alexander William Lawrence and Catherine Letitia Knox, on 3 April 1830 at Kurnaul, Bengal, India.2 She died on 12 May 1878 at age 68.1

Lt.-Gen. Sir Henry Montgomery Lawrence was born on 28 June 1806 at Sri Lanka.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Alexander William Lawrence and Catherine Letitia Knox.2 He married Honoria Marshall, daughter of Reverend George Marshall, on 21 August 1837.1 He died on 4 July 1857 at age 51 at the Residency, Lucknow, India, from wounds from a shell two days earlier.1 He was buried at St. Martin Churchyard, Northstoke, Somerset, England.3
He was commissioned in 1821 with the rank of officer, in the service of the Bengal Artillery.1 He fought in the Burma Campaign.1 He was British Resident of Nepal in 1843.1 He fought in the Kabul Campaign.1 He fought in the Sutlej Campaign.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1846.1 He was British Resident of Lahore in 1846.1 He wrote the book The Adventures of an Officer in Runjeet Singh's Service.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1846.1 He was Governor-General's Agent to the North-West Frontier.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1848.1 He was Chief Commissioner of Government of Punjab in 1849, on its annexation.1 He was Governor-General's Agent of Rajputana in 1853.1 He fought in the Indian Mutiny in 1857, where he organised the defence of Lucknow.1 He was Chief Commissioner of Oudh in 1857.1
