Sir Andrew Murray of Balvaird and Arngask was the son of Sir Andrew Murray of Balvaird and Arngask and Margaret Crichton.1 He married Katherine Menteith, daughter of William Menteith, 10th of Kerse and Marion Bruce.2 He died in December 1624, without issue.1,2

David Murray, 1st Viscount of Stormont was the son of Sir Andrew Murray of Arngask and Balvaird and Lady Janet Graham.1 He married Elizabeth Beaton, daughter of James Beaton of Creich, circa February 1603/4.1 He died on 27 August 1631.1
He was Cupbearer to King James VI before 1580.1 He was Master of the Stable in 1583/84.1 He held the office of Keeper of Falkland Palace before 1596.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1599.1 He was appointed Knight in 1599.1 He was Componitor of the Scottish Treasury between 1601 and 1608.1 He held the office of Provost of Perth between 1601 and 1609.1 He was Captain of the King's Guard between 1603 and 1611.1 He was created 1st Lord Scone [Scotland] on 7 July 1604, with a special remainder to his nephew Sir Andrew Murray of Balvaird.1 On 18 August 1608 by charter he was granted the dissolved Scone Abbey lands.1 He was Commissioner of the Scottish Exchequer in 1610.1 He held the office of Provost of Perth between February 1612 and 1627/28.1 On 29 April 1612 by a special charter, the remainder of his title Lord Scone was extended to include (a) his cousin Sir Mungo Murray of Drumcairn (b) John Murray of Redkirk, no relation (c) Gilbert Murray, a first cousin (d) Andrew Murray, Gilbert's brother adn (e) William Murray, with ultimate remainder to his heirs male whatsoever bearing the name of Murray of Balvaird.1 He was created 1st Viscount of Stormont [Scotland] on 16 August 1621, with the same special remainder as the Lordship of Scone.1
