     Francis Marion Bates Fisher was born in 1877.1 He was the son of George Fisher and Laura Emma Tompkins.1,2 He married, firstly, Esther Davie in 1899 at Christchurch, New ZealandG.1 He and Esther Davie were divorced in 1928.1 He married, secondly, Sophie Florence Lothrop Sheridan, daughter of Algernon Thomas Brinsley Sheridan and Mary Lothrop Motley, in 1947.3 He died on 25 July 1960.4
     He was a top tennis player for New Zealand.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) [New Zealand] between 1905 and 1915, for Wellington Central.1 He held the office of Minister of Trade and Customs [New Zealand].2 He lived at Makona, Ngongotaha, Rotorua, New ZealandG.5
