     Alfred Gordon Courage was born in 1835 at Dulwich, Surrey, EnglandG.4 He was the son of John Courage and Susan Hawes.4 He married Irene Ellen Whitbread, daughter of Jacob William Carey Whitbread and Ellen Belfield Farwell, circa 1859 at Devon, EnglandG.2 He died in 1917 at Reigate Foreign, Surrey, EnglandG.4 He was also reported to have died on 23 September 1898 at Brighton, EnglandG.2
     He purchased circa 1860 at 22 Nicholas Street, Chester, Cheshire, EnglandG.4 He lived in 1861 at Chester Holy Trinity, Cheshire, EnglandG, Census Spouse Tresa E C son A G C.3 He appeared on the census of 1881 at Reigate Foreign, Surrey, EnglandG.4 He appeared on the census of 1891 at Wray Park Road, Reigate, EnglandG; Malt Factor 7 in Household.4 Alfred set up as a Malt factor, the Company becoming White, Tomkins and Courage, one of their maltings being at Snape in Suufolk.4

     Arthur Atherley was born on 12 June 1772.1 He was the son of Arthur Atherley and Susanna Carter.1 He married Lady Louise Kerr, daughter of General William John Kerr, 5th Marquess of Lothian and Elizabeth Fortescue, on 2 June 1793.1 He died on 1 October 1844 at age 72.1
