Reverend William Hornby was born on 26 February 1810.2 He was the son of Reverend Hugh Hornby and Ann Starky.2 He married, firstly, Ellen Dorothea Cross, daughter of William Cross and Ellen Chaffers, on 17 January 1837.1 He married, secondly, Susan Charlotte Margaret Hornby, daughter of Admiral Sir Phipps Hornby and Maria Sophia Burgoyne, on 18 April 1844.2 He died on 20 December 1899 at age 89.1
He graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He was the Vicar at St. Michael's, Lancashire, EnglandG.2 He held the office of Archdeacon of Lancaster.1

Georgiana Lyon was the daughter of Thomas Lyon and Eliza Clayton.2,3 She married Richard Assheton Cross, 1st Viscount Cross, son of William Cross and Ellen Chaffers, on 4 May 1852.1 She died on 20 January 1907.1
From 4 May 1852, her married name became Cross. After her marriage, Georgiana Lyon was styled as Viscountess Cross on 19 August 1886. She was appointed Imperial Order of the Crown of India (C.I.)1
