     John Haldane was born on 22 December 1693.1 He was the son of John Haldane, 14th of Gleneagles and Helen Erskine.2 He married Helen Scott, daughter of David Scott.1 He died in January 1726 at age 32.1
     He was College of Customs at Prestonpans.1

     Helen Scott was the daughter of David Scott.2 She married John Haldane, son of John Haldane, 14th of Gleneagles and Helen Erskine.1 She died on 21 September 1738.1

Captain Robert Haldane1

     Captain Robert Haldane was the son of John Haldane and Helen Scott.2 He died on 22 August 1761 at Madras, IndiaG, unmarried.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.1 He fought in the War of Austrian Succession between 1743 and 1748, against the French.1 He fought in the Seven Years' War between 1756 and 1760.1 He fought in the Relief of Pondicherry in January 1761.1

David Haldane1

     Robert Haldane, 1st of Airthrey and 17th of Gleneagles was born on 16 March 1705.3 He was the son of John Haldane, 14th of Gleneagles and Helen Erskine.3 He married Elizabeth Oglander, daughter of Sir William Oglander, 3rd Bt. and Elizabeth Strode, on 29 September 1742.3 He died on 31 December 1767 at age 62, without issue.3
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Honourable East india Company Service.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Sitrling Burghs between 1758 and 1761.3 In 1759 he bought Airthrey from James Dundas of Manor.3 In 1760 he bought Gleneagles from his half-brother Patrick.3 He held the office of Provost of Inverkeithing in 1760.3 In 1766 he executed the entail by which his nephew George Cockburn inherited.3 He held the office of Provost of Inverkeithing between 1767 and 1768.3
