George Stephens Gough, 2nd Viscount Gough of Goojerat was born in 1815.1 He was the son of Field Marshal Hugh Gough, 1st Viscount Gough of Goojerat and Frances Maria Stephens.1 He married, firstly, Sarah Elizabeth Palliser, daughter of Wray Bury Palliser and Anne Gledstanes, on 17 October 1840.2 He married, secondly, Jane Arbuthnot, daughter of George Arbuthnot and Elizabeth Fraser, on 3 June 1846.1 He died on 31 May 1895.2
He gained the rank of Captain in the Grenadier Guards.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Tipperary.1 He was appointed Fellow, Linnean Society (F.L.S.)2 He was appointed Fellow, Geological Society (F.G.S.)2 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Tipperary in 1858.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Galway.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Gough of Goojerat, in the Punjab and of the city of Limerick [U.K., 1849] on 2 March 1869.2 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Gough, of Synone and Drangan, co.Tipperary [U.K., 1842] on 2 March 1869.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Gough of ChinKangFoo, in China and of Maharajpore and the Sutlej in the East Indies [U.K., 1846] on 2 March 1869.1

Anna Margaret Palliser was the daughter of Wray Bury Palliser and Anne Gledstanes.2 She married John Nugent Rose, 15th of Holme, son of Lt.-Gen. Sir John Rose, 14th of Holme, on 26 February 1846.1 She died, without issue.1
