Dr. Matthew Everard Puakahakoililanimanuia Makalua was the son of Manuia Makalua and Kaipoleimanu Kahoohanohano Makalua.2,3 He married Annie Clementina Dewar, daughter of Reverend David Erskine Dewar and Elizabeth Ann Fane Parry, on 27 August 1888.1 He died on 31 December 1928.1

Major Matthew James Manuia Dewar was born on 8 August 1890.1 He was the son of Dr. Matthew Everard Puakahakoililanimanuia Makalua and Annie Clementina Dewar.2 He married Marjorie Harriet Beaman, daughter of Surgn.-Gen. Ardern Hulme Beaman, on 5 April 1915.1 He died on 23 November 1952 at age 62.1
He was given the name of Matthew James Manuia Makalua at birth.1 He was educated at Oratory School, Woodcote, Edgbaston, Warwickshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Sussex Regiment.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded in 1916.1 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre avec palmes.1 He was Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1919.1 On 1 August 1930 his name was legally changed to Matthew James Manuia Dewar.1 On 1 August 1930 (an unknown value.)1 He fought in the Second World War, with the Royal Engineers.1 He was with the Publicity and PRO, British Western Region.1
