     John Handcock Townsend was born on 20 October 1829.1 He was the son of Richard Townsend and Helena Trench.2 He married Katherine Emma Tower, daughter of Reverend William Tower, on 19 March 1853.1 He died on 26 October 1889 at age 60.1
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Cork.1 He lived at Myross Wood, County Cork, IrelandG.1
