     Sir William Skipwith was the son of Sir John Skipwith and Catherine FitzWilliam.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Tyrwhitt, daughter of Sir William Tyrwhitt.2 He married, secondly, Alice Dymoke, daughter of Sir Lionel Dymoke and Joanna Griffith.2 He died in 1547.2
     He was involved in the Pilgrimage of Grace, a rebellion sparked off by a mob attacking his brother-in-law Sir Thomas Heneage.2 He was appointed Knight in 1526.2 He held the office of Sheriff of Lincolnshire in 1527.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lincolnshire in 1529.2
