     He was educated in 1636 at Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G.⁴ He was admitted to Middle Temple.⁴ Between 1641 and 1647 he toured Europe, mostly to avoid becomig involved in the English Civil War and losing his estate.⁴ He wrote the book Sylva.⁴ He lived between 1652 and 1694 at Says Court, Deptford, Kent, England^G.⁴ He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.)⁴ He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.) by Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, in 1669.⁴ He was a member of the Board of Trade and Plantations.⁴ He was a Commissioner of the Privy Seal in 1685.⁴ He lived at Wotton, Surrey, England^G.¹

     Sir Henry Browne, 1st Bt. was born circa 1639.¹ He was the son of Sir Peter Browne and Margaret Knollys.¹ He married Frances Somerset, daughter of Hon. Sir Charles Somerset and Elizabeth Powell, before 1662.¹ He died in 1689.¹ He was buried at Kidlington, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹ His will (dated 16 July 1688) was proven (by probate) on 6 February 1688/89.¹
     He was created 1st Baronet Browne, of Kiddington, co. Oxford [England] on 1 July 1659, with a special remainder to his brother, Francis.¹ He held the office of Sheriff of Oxfordshire from 1687 to 1688.¹

     Sir Peter Browne was born circa 1615.¹ He was the son of Hon. Sir Henry Browne.¹ He died in June 1645 at Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, from wounds received in action.¹
     He fought in the Battle of Naseby on 14 June 1645, in the service of King Charles I.¹
