     Mary Browne was born circa 1636.1 She was the daughter of Sir Richard Browne, 1st and last Bt. and Elizabeth Pretyman.1 She married John Evelyn, son of Richard Evelyn and Eleanor Stansfield, on 27 June 1647 at Paris, FranceG.1 She died on 9 February 1708/9.1
     From 27 June 1647, her married name became Evelyn.1

     John Evelyn was born on 31 October 1620 at Wotton House, Dorking, Surrey, EnglandG.3 He was the son of Richard Evelyn and Eleanor Stansfield.4 He married Mary Browne, daughter of Sir Richard Browne, 1st and last Bt. and Elizabeth Pretyman, on 27 June 1647 at Paris, FranceG.1 He died on 27 February 1706 at age 85 at Dover Street, London, EnglandG.1,3
     He was educated in 1636 at Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.4 He was admitted to Middle Temple.4 Between 1641 and 1647 he toured Europe, mostly to avoid becomig involved in the English Civil War and losing his estate.4 He wrote the book Sylva.4 He lived between 1652 and 1694 at Says Court, Deptford, Kent, EnglandG.4 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.)4 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.) by Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1669.4 He was a member of the Board of Trade and Plantations.4 He was a Commissioner of the Privy Seal in 1685.4 He lived at Wotton, Surrey, EnglandG.1

Sir Henry Browne, 1st Bt.1

     Sir Henry Browne, 1st Bt. was born circa 1639.1 He was the son of Sir Peter Browne and Margaret Knollys.1 He married Frances Somerset, daughter of Hon. Sir Charles Somerset and Elizabeth Powell, before 1662.1 He died in 1689.1 He was buried at Kidlington, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 His will (dated 16 July 1688) was proven (by probate) on 6 February 1688/89.1
     He was created 1st Baronet Browne, of Kiddington, co. Oxford [England] on 1 July 1659, with a special remainder to his brother, Francis.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Oxfordshire from 1687 to 1688.1

     Sir Peter Browne was born circa 1615.1 He was the son of Hon. Sir Henry Browne.1 He died in June 1645 at Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, from wounds received in action.1
     He fought in the Battle of Naseby on 14 June 1645, in the service of King Charles I.1
