     Isabel G. Niven was born circa 1853 at Pershore, Worcestershire, England^G.¹ She was the daughter of David Graham Niven and Mary Baylis.¹

     William Edward Graham Niven was born on 24 June 1877 at Princes Square, London, England^G.¹ He was the son of William Niven and Helen Boustead.¹ He married Henriette Julia Degacher, daughter of Captain William Degacher and Julia Caroline Webber Smith, in 1899 at Warwick, Warwickshire, England^G.¹ He died on 21 August 1915 at age 38 at Scimitar Hill, Suvla, Turkey, killed in action.^1,2 He was buried at Green Hill Cemetery, Suvla, Turkey.²
     He was educated at Wellington College, Berkshire, England^G.² In 1908 he was on a two month safari in East Africa, and killed eight lions.² He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Berkshire Yeomanry.² He fought in the Gallipoli Campaign.¹

     Henriette Julia Degacher was the daughter of Captain William Degacher and Julia Caroline Webber Smith.^1,2 She married, firstly, William Edward Graham Niven, son of William Niven and Helen Boustead, in 1899 at Warwick, Warwickshire, England^G.¹ She married, secondly, Sir Thomas Comyn-Platt, son of Reverend T. D. Platt, in 1917.¹ She died in 1932.¹
     Henriette Julia Degacher also went by the nick-name of Etta.¹ From 1899, her married name became Niven.¹ From 1917, her married name became Platt.¹ From 1922, her married name became Comyn-Platt.¹

     Captain William Degacher was born on 4 April 1841.² He was the son of Walter Henry Degacher.² He married Julia Caroline Webber Smith, daughter of Maj.-Gen. James Webber Smith and Margaret Jeanette Bell, circa February 1877 at Portsmouth, Hampshire, England.³ He died on 22 January 1879 at age 37 at Natal, South Africa^G, killed in action.²
     He was educated at Saint-Omer, France^G.² He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, England^G.² He was commissioned on 31 May 1859 with the rank of Ensign, in the service of the 24th Regiment.² He was educated at Imperial College, London, England^G.² He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 19 August 1862.² He gained the rank of Captain on 2 December 1868 in the 1st Battalion, 24th Regiment.² He fought in the Battle of Isandlwana on 22 January 1879, during the Zulu War.²

     Joyce Niven is the daughter of William Edward Graham Niven and Henriette Julia Degacher.¹

     Grizel Niven was born in 1907 at London, England^G.¹ She was the daughter of William Edward Graham Niven and Henriette Julia Degacher.¹ She died on 28 January 2007.¹

     Sir Thomas Comyn-Platt was born in 1869.² He was the son of Reverend T. D. Platt.¹ He married Henriette Julia Degacher, daughter of Captain William Degacher and Julia Caroline Webber Smith, in 1917.¹ He died on 18 March 1961.¹
     He was given the name of Thomas Platt at birth.¹ He was appointed Knight in 1922.¹ In 1922 his name was legally changed to Thomas Comyn-Platt by Deed Poll.¹
