The interjection takk (“thanks”) (borrowed from Danish tak, from Old Norse þǫkk) is a cognate of þökk (“a thank, thanks”), itself inherited directly from Old Norse.
The term þökk is used as a noun, and rarely as an interjection by itself. The derived term þökk fyrir can be used as an interjection.
