- Only written in the final position, transliterated ā. Called أَلِف مَقْصُورَة (ʔalif maqṣūra, “limited, restricted alif”) or أَلِف لَيِّنَة (ʔalif layyina, “flexible alif”). In the rare case of a rasm version of Quran, it is the yāʾ version.
